finally, the Fley Tokens
*pulls up a chair* yes hello i am here for the Fley backstory can't wait to know moreeee 👀
*slides on the floor like a penguin* HI HELLO so I assume it's about the Rani name 👀 I'm going to write down only what's explicit in the campaign so far! Sanarei was a ray of hope for Fley, back then. Literally and metaphorically, she pulled them out of a moment when any hope or even just confidence was lost. Offering Fley - Mirel at the time - the opportunity to work for her in the university/research institution, Sanarei had given them the chance to put their life back on track. Fley not only admired her, but loved her sort of as... a second mother (don't let me get into Fley's mommy issues) - except the strict caste system (that Sanarei refused to respect, even if she was of a upper caste) was so ingrained into Mirel's worldview that even that affection could not breach the sense of loneliness. For ten years Mirel worked for Sanarei, learning, exploring, studying, everything that they always wanted - but never sticking out their neck too much. When Sanarei was murdered because she did very much stick out her neck too much, and Mirel was framed for it, everything, every rule Mirel diligently followed to maintain their little pocket of safety just... crumbled. When they managed to escape they could not keep going as Mirel. Both as, well, incognito reasons and because they didn't want to be that person anymore. Fley is a name that I picked at random because it sounded good, but then I found out that it means "to be afraid" in scottish dialect and... well. Tieflings and their names. Fley is very much always, constantly, afraid to lose everything again. Rani though? They could at least try to finish Sanarei's work. Fley'Rani it was.
Oh, did I mention that the caste is indicated by the letters after the apostrophe? fun little tidbit :3c

THE FLEY ZINE IS NOW AVAILABLE IN DIGITAL FORMAT!
Missed the preorders? Stuck in the US? Fret not, the beauty of digital files is that there's no postage (or printing) required, so the price is reduced accordingly. Also sort-of in time for Fley's birthday! yay!
Fate has a twisted sense of humour apparently 8)
