Someone on Flickr "Favorites" 103 of My Photos in a Few Hours and Makes Not One Comment on a Photo or to Me
Seriously? 103 photos "favorited" in a few hours and not one comment? Try one of these:
"Sexy."
(That wasn't so difficult, now was it?)
"She is your best model. No doubt about it!"
"Cool."
"Good God, this woman is so fine."
"Wow!"
"Makes me proud to be an American!"
"This chick is hot."
"If you don't like this girl, you don't like home cookin'."
"So feminine."
"She makes that dress look so good!"
"I would have had a heart attack if I'd seen this through my lens."
I wouldn't be averse to a kind word in my direction:
"Beautiful work. Congratulations to model and photographer!" (I have left many comments like this myself on sites for models and photographers.)
"You have the best collection of girls on Flickr!" (Actually, I've received a comment just like this.)
"You photographed her?! Respect, brother!" (I've heard this, too.)
You don't have to pay a fee to become a Flickr member. How is it skin off your nose to give a compliment while you're busy collecting tons of my photos? Some photographers on Flickr will delete you if you favorite a lot of photos and don't even leave a comment. I block members every day, but primarily because "their own" photostreams are merely filled with net finds (they aren't photographers on Flickr with photos to share) or because their photostreams are full of bad porn (and I mean bad porn: ugly, stupid).
I suppose I'm asking too much. How often in any walk of life do we run into people who are smart and talented and exude class and maturity?
Occasionally, one runs into a fellow photographer who is such a competitive asshole that he cannot find a compliment in him to give to another photographer. Most photographers I've corresponded with or met do not fall in this category. But some do.
In addition, a photographer sometimes runs into a model who may have a beautiful face and a sexy body but is such a dullard that she acts like she was born in a barn and not raised by parents who could teach her anything about class. She's two steps (or five years) away from working in a clip joint. Most models I've worked with do not fall in this category. Unfortunately, some do.
