Revamp of an Old Blog
Lately I've been finding myself wondering exactly what I was doing with my social media presence, and if it was truly benefiting anyone or any cause for me to be present. There's a large debate going on within my household over whether or not social media is toxic to the world, or even worth the time and effort it takes to keep entirely in touch. I agree to an extent that social media can be toxic to some people and some environtments, but I do believe that there is a voice to be shared via social media and that social media does have an influence on the people aroung them. I've since deleted most social media apps on my phone, except for Facebook Messenger for obvious reasons, and have decided to strictly pursue using my social media presence to highlight the things I'm passionate about. For example; Social Justice, Feminism and all it's intersecting fascets, LGBTQ+ issues (as I am a Panromantic Demisexual woman (sometimes nothing at all) and I do have a voice to share about this), my love for my local music and local culture in the Flint/Lansing/Grand Rapids/Detroit areas (as my boyfriend and the majority of my friends are involved in this-- interviews with them are to come), the Flint Water Crisis, local artist spotlights, local news, and anything that anyone submits to me to write about. Some will also be personal opinion pieces or reviews of local/national acts I've seen or some products I've tried out recently. I'm very excited to start on this journey with this blog and I'm really hoping that this can become something I do in a successful and positive way. Be the change you wish to see in the world (I know Ghandi was problematic, but the quote resonates with me more now than it ever has) and I'm choosing to live by that sentiment. This world is very important to me.
