Yo, ya’ll wanna hear about a character I’m workin on? (Major spoilers for The Flipside, but it’s gonna take me years to get to it, if I ever do, so take it or leave it)
I’ve come up with a love interest for June, and he wears high heels.
So, June’s gonna accidentally end up signing herself up for the cheerleading team at her new school. (She lied about having a scholarship to impress some new friends, then panicked and chose the first thing she could think of to back up the lie) This is hilarious, and terrible for her, because she is the complete antithesis of a cheerleader. She’s grunge and antisocial and hates girly stuff with a burning passion totally not cuz he’s actually transmasc and it gives him excruciating gender dysphoria
A group of girls on the team are gonna try to take her under their wing and do the whole glow up makeover thing (which he’s gonna have a lot of conflicting emotions about) But just like any good tween girl squad needs, they’ve got a villain they need to warn her against, and that villain is Queen Rhi, captain of the cheerleading team.
Rhiannon’s 100% the whole mean girl package. She’s blond, pretty, and a total bitch. She’s bossy, power hungry, and sadistic. All the guys think she’s a bombshell but are low key scared of her. All the girls hate her guts but know better than to get in her way.
June of course, has no fear, no filter, and no respect for hierarchy, so these two are gonna have MASSIVE problems. June hates everything about this girl: her stuck up entitled attitude, the way she knows she can get away with anything because her daddy’s a major doner to the school, her infuriating habit of phrasing all her insults in a way that gives her opponent no way to respond without sounding pathetic. She even hates the clack of her stupid high heals.
Then they finally get into an actual fight and Rhi lands a punch squarely in June’s face and June… short circuits. Because how the hell can that dainty manicured hand hit so hard? And why the hell is she blushing because of it??
