I don't believe in putting my personal life on the internet, but on the off-chance someone sees this, please do not fold for a job that would replace you in two seconds flat. I'm not saying anyone should job hop, but I am currently sick as a dog with a doctor's note and they called me trying to guilt-trip me into coming in anyway ("It's difficult running ____ when staff are out", "X amount of people called out and it's busy").
The world kept turning when I said no, but I remember what it was like when I felt it would stop. It's been made apparent they need me more than I need them (that's not arrogance, that's confidence in my abilities and skillset of five years) and if they intend to keep me, they will let me stay home from work.
I work with toddlers, so I take my illnesses very seriously especially when they're contagious. I am not coming in until there is no danger of it spreading!
