I was an eldritch creature.
You were a mortal.
Your life had not lasted as long as I'd wished, but for that, you are lucky.
"promise to bring me back to you when I'm... fully dead?" You had asked me.
I do not think you understood what that meant.
So I did.
I waited, patiently, your dust scattered like stars upon my blackened wings.
I waited until your name was uttered for the last time.
I waited for all to forget who you were, what you'd done, what'd you'd experienced.
I waited until you were no longer a memory to anyone but myself.
That was when you were fully dead, to all but me.
That was when I brought you back.
I remember the tears, the adoration, and the happiness of having you back.
You were not the same as I recalled.
You were more.
More than I could have imagined.
And that day,
you became a little more like me.
Not a human, nor a monster.
But Dust.
You were Dust.
And once more,
You were mine.
(as I was yours.)
