Sea foam covers the beach like shaving cream after the waters recede at low tide, following the high surf that hit our San Francisco Bay Area coast during the #bombcyclone. We were very lucky… counting our blessings as we cleaned up and prepared for the next wave of storms. We only had a few inches of standing water, and most of our stuff was already up off the floor on carts and dollies, if not already in our overhead storage. After the flooding receded, we found that we had just lost some cardboard, packaging, and power cords. However, many of our fellow Islais Creek Studio artists weren’t so lucky, and it’s heartbreaking to see the pile of stuff to be tossed grow larger as everyone works to clean up and prepare. For #FloodSafety Awareness Week, here is a throwback to the 1983 flood disaster. Snowmelt came down very fast out of the mountains and caused flooding all over northern Utah. This week, we are raising the awareness of flooding, which is the most common of the weather related natural disasters. @governorherbert even did a special proclamation for this week.
