It starts when Ralph decides on Liv’s behalf to donate half her clothes.
“Bennie is really passionate about this,” he explains, pouting his lips. “And besides, isn’t it about time you change your wardrobe, Livvie-love? Add some color...add some fun.”
Noah laughs quietly behind her and she turns around to give him the finger.
He raises his hands in defeat and takes a seat on the edge of her bed.
“If you’re really upset about it, I can ask Bennie to give them back but he’s probably sent the box out already...”
Ralph avoids her gaze and is suddenly very interested in the peeling paint on her wall.
“It’s fine,” she sighs. “I’ll just...go thrifting later this week or something.”
He finally lifts his gaze from the wall and claps his hands.
“Perfect! Good good, this is for a great cause anyway,” he says, leaning down to peck her cheek. “Thank you, Liv!”
Ralph waves Noah goodbye as he leaves her room and Liv shuts the door behind him.
“Add some color, Liv,” Noah finally says, his eyes shining with amusement. “Add some fun.”
She shakes her head as she walks over to him and plops down onto his lap.
“Wanna go with me?” she asks, pushing back the hair falling his eyes. “Maybe you’ll find something too.”
Noah raises a brow. “Are you saying I, too, need to add some color and fun?”

It’s a dreary day when they finally have the time to go shopping, but that means the shops are less crowded than usual.
Noah’s eyes are glued to the shop windows, distracted every five seconds by something he sees. Liv eventually has to tightly hold on to his hand so she doesn’t lose him.
“Come on,” she says, dragging him into one of her favorite thrift stores.
When they cross the threshold, Noah immediately pulls his hand out of hers and walks over to the back of the store. He stops when he reaches a mannequin wearing a blue dress with flowers all around it.
“You should buy this,” he says, examining the fabric. “I think it’d look really nice on you.”
Liv walks up behind him and tries to hide her amused smile.
Noah seems genuinely proud of himself for this find.
“Is that so?” she asks, studying the dress. "It kind of looks....grandma-ey.”
“Grandma-ey?” Noah repeats, tilting his head. “I don’ think it does.”
"Hm,” she sighs. “Should I try it on?”

Liv exits the fitting room and gives Noah a dramatic twirl.
His lips curve up into a smile as he watches her.
“You know, it’s actually not too bad,” she admits, stepping in front of the mirror.
And it really isn’t.
The dress falls a few inches above her ankles and although she doesn’t own many pieces in this color, she figures something this bright would look nice during the summer.
“See? I have good taste,” Noah says, wrapping his arms around her waist.
She watches him through their reflection and laughs at the smug smile on his face.
And that’s when she sees it—
a ridiculous patterned jumper.
Something her grandpa would wear but it just screams Noah.
“If I’m going to wear something grandma-ey, then I think it’s only fitting that you wear something grandpa-ey. Don’t you think?”
Liv shrugs out from under him and pulls the jumper off the hanger. She holds it up to his chest and gives him a satisfied nod.
Noah grabs the jumper from her and pulls it over his head before turning around to see how he looks.
Liv reaches up to adjust the collar before looping her arm through his.
“We look like an elderly couple,” she snorts, resting her head on his shoulder.
Noah smiles. “I like it.”
She glances over at him. “What, that we look old?”
“No,” he says, placing a light kiss on her forehead. “I like the thought of us growing old together.”
Liv turns her head to hide the blush creeping up her neck.
(Needless to say, she bought the dress.)
