a photo with a story.
Yesterday, I spent about 2 hours working on a post. I have this picture (which i'll post shortly, probably) that captured one of the most awesome moments of my life. and i tried to tell the story behind it. well, with the help of the internet, i was able to put bits and pieces in chronological order, and the more i wrote, the less magical the moment became. it's weird how much gets blurred with time, and weirder yet how clarity can detract from the memory of the moment.
So for now, no background story, just a moment that led to a lot more amazing memories, somehow captured by a stranger, who gave it to me sometime later.
"If i put the mic in your face you'll know what to do, right?"
I knew what to do.
Now, i can pinpoint this event down to the exact evening and location (thanks internet.) hell, i even remember the exact song that this pic was taken during. i could tell you the logo on my shirt or 1000 other little things that stuck with me, but none of it really adds to the magic of the night i got to sing (i use the term "sing" loosely) back up for my favorite band.
the rest is boring to most, even this much of the story might be boring to anyone but me. But this was a moment that meant a lot to me, a moment that led to many other awesome times, a moment that is part of the reason i got a tattoo dedicated to a band i "grew out of" years ago (only to grow back into), guys i called my friends even if we only saw each other once or twice a year.
If you ever want the longwinded, detail filled, version of this story, buy me a cup of coffee and prepare to be bored/amazed by how much i remember.
