I am not an artist by any means, but I've had this image in my head since Day 1. I still adore all of Hannah's depictions in blue with the long black scarf, but this is more based on the whole "color change" thing that started that line of crack. Anyway, I did do a version more in line with the Emerald outfit that Hannah would switch into randomly, but it didn't look very good and given the joke was that Envy is more like a Kecleon the green and yellow motif just fit better.
Hannah was exhausted after all her trials at the Pokemon League. It still felt unreal to wake up in her own bed and ACTUALLY BE THE CHAMPION! She hoped. The days had started to blur together so much, she was counting PP in her sleep she was so tired of throwing herself into the gauntlet. But this morning... It was quiet. Peaceful. The subtle beams of sunlight streaked through the blinds into her bedroom as she finally pushed herself to get up from the comfort of the bed. She quickly got herself ready for the new day and pulled up the Poke to check on her teammates. All happy, all healthy, and sure enough! She spotted under Sheddy's profile page that there was the mark of the Hall of Fame Champion. Ahhhhhh it was real after all. And now.... Now what? Breakfast. That was what. She wanted the breakfast of Champions.
Casually stepping down the stairs though, she could over hear her mother's voice with that of a man. A familiar old man she hadn't heard from in a very long time now that she thought about it. Hannah couldn't help but smile as she approached the table where the two adults had been enjoying some freshly made coffee. "Mr. April~!"
The old sea dog looked up from his cup and gave her a smile. "Good morning, Hannah! And fancy meeting you here. I know it's been a while, but you look... stronger, somehow." He teased. He set down his cup and got up from his seat so he could go digging through his pockets for something. A small flat box meant for a necklace or a bracelet that had a lovely little green ribbon on it as the only thing keeping the lid on it closed. Hannah took it with a bit of confusion. She never was much of a jewelry person, but it seemed wrong to tell the sweet old man that after he came all this way. He smiled warmly as he watched her try to undo the knot. "A gift for the new Champion."
Hannah's dismay turned to a cat-like curiosity as she pulled out the embellished paper inside it. "An S.S. Ticket?"
"That's right, lassy!~" Mr. April took the openings of his coat with pride as he boasted a bit, "I told you how some friends of mine had asked for help in building a new ship. It's been officially completed, and I would be more than happy to have you attend her maiden voyage! But if you have other things you need to do, there's no hurry. You'll be able to find the S.S. Tidal traveling between Charpos, Teas City, and a large number of new places for you to find out about. What do ye say, missy?"
Hannah just beamed as she turned it over in her hand to look at the list of places it was good for. The Challenge Islands? What was THAT?! "I will definitely have to check it out, sir. Thanks!"
Her mother's face sank from the joy of seeing her daughter so happy to the realization to what this meant and quickly set her cup down. Not that she could ever bear to stop them, but if they could just slow down for even a little while? "Thank you so much for coming to visit our home, Mr. April. Are you sure you wouldn't mind staying with us for lunch? It sounds like you and Hannah would certainly have a lot more to talk about before you go."
"That's very kind of you, miss, but I'm afraid not. I'm due back to port here soon, but I just had to deliver that ticket in person. I'll need to be going now, but it was lovely getting to meet you. And Hannah?" The girl looked up at him with surprise, "I'll be seeing you soon?"
"We'll see." As the old man took his leave, Hannah's smile also faded as her attention was drawn to her mother by a loud sigh. "...What?"
"Oh nothing." Her mother lied as she rested a hand under her chin. "It's just we don't get company very often. I was hoping he could have stayed longer so we could just hang out." She let her hand down and started back over to the table to finish her cup of coffee. "And I suppose you won't be staying either now that you know there's adventures to be had out there. You look like you're all dressed up and ready to leave right now."
"Well I did plan to at least stop by the Birch house at some point today. Maybe check out something at Mt. Fullmoon?" Hannah just shrugged as she followed her over to the table. Mr. April's cup still had at least a drink in it, but given her mother's saddened mood at the moment, Hannah figured she'd just put it up before it sat there all day.
"But you just got home..." Before Hannah could say anything to defend herself, the movie that had been playing on the television suddenly started blaring the news alert music. "Oh? Is that some breaking news?"
Hannah was curious too as she made her way closer to the screen, practically standing right in front of it, and stared at the anchor while a picture of some strange Pokemon appeared in the news square behind him. "They say that some large red Pokemon has suddenly been spotted in several places all over Flora. No one has any idea what it is."
"A new Pokemon? Huh. Well isn't that exciting!" Her mother perked up a bit as she took another drink. "Maybe some day you'll find something totally new too."
"Yeeeeaaaah." Hannah shifted a bit awkwardly as she tried to inch passed her mother to make her way to the door walking backwards. She snapped both her fingers to playfully shoot a pair of finger guns at the woman. "Guess there's no way to know until I do it. Gotta go!~"
"But, Hannah-!"
The would-be Ninja turned and darted before anything --guilt trip or otherwise-- could stop her. "Love ya, Mom. I'll see you later!"
Hannah's mother let out yet another sigh as the door suddenly slammed and casually went to grab the remote from on top of the television. Looked like it was to be another long day of finding something to do. Or maybe they'd have more on that rare, new Pokemon, hmmm?
=+=
Hannah also let out a sigh as she slammed the door behind her and leaned against it. Gods, she thought to herself, she loved her mother but she never really did feel at home in that place. How long would it take the woman to realize that? Still, all thoughts of her mother immediately scattered as she took a breath to move forward and opened her eyes to a giant red and white dragon Pokemon staring at her. "Wh-what?!"
"Laaa?!" It's large gold eyes widened with shock to see the being out that came out of the house had spoken! As the tiny human moved forward, the dragon looked around and darted away faster than Hannah thought was physically possible.
The girl pressed herself against the door again, her heart pounding as she tried to wrap her mind around it. Was that? That was the thing from the news cast! She saw it already? And it happened so fast, she didn't have time to throw a ball either. Dang... It's a good thing she was pressed against the door though as just as suddenly as the dragon had appeared, she spotted the shadow of something else abruptly landing in front of her house.
The young man in all black didn't recall his flier as he cornered Hannah in the doorway. "The Eon Pokemon! That was it just now, wasn't it?"
"Wha-? Who are you?!" She pulled up her hands to shove him off as he stood uncomfortably close. "I don't know what that thing was, but you better back off if you know what's good for ya!"
The young man let out a loud huff of discontent, but obliged to give her some space as he brushed himself off and started to make a note into the device on his wrist. "The Eon Pokemon passed through Small Town at approximately 12:35 pm. It seems to have an interest in this..." he looked Hannah over with a wry mixture of amusement and disgust, "this person." He took his hand off the device and met her glare with slight contempt. "And who are you, androgynous resident?"
Hannah crossed her arms across her chest, matching his disgust perfectly as she hotly replied. "I'm Flora's new Champion. And frankly, that's all you need to know, cause I'm about to kick your ass."
"Think I'll pass." The young man replied coolly and brushed her off as he started to look at the view of the town from her front porch. His tense, cold stance seemed to soften as he took it all in. "This is your hometown, isn't it? It's far more peaceful than mine. And that ticket."
The Champion looked down in surprise that he saw it, but she still had it in hand since she had been in too big a rush to get it into her Bag yet. "A present." She huffed at him hotly. If he thought for one minute he was going to take that from her-!
"Do you plan to visit the Challenge Islands, then? A lot of people have been arriving there lately."
She eyed him warily as she was starting to wonder if he had come for a fight or information. Angry as he was making her, no need to throw caution to the winds just yet. "So what if I am?"
The young man looked her over again, as if sizing her up as well if she was worthy of a beating or not. Instead, he let out another small hum of discontent and turned his back on her, showing he held no thought of her as a threat. "I have other things I need to be getting to. I hope we never see each other again," he glanced over his shoulder at her, his eyes narrowing to daggers, "but my feelings seem to suggest otherwise. I suggest you forget our meeting today."
"Don't worry, I'll probably forget you as soon as you get out of my sight." Hannah snarked back hotly.
"Good." He said, surprising her that he seemed to believe that. He held up his hand to signal for the Pokemon perched on the roof to swoop down and take off with him in the direction of the dragon as before.
Hannah stood alone the porch, the ticket in her right hand. Her left had curled into a fist and started to tremble with anger as she held herself back. She had a feeling she'd be seeing him too. The man... the dragon... the Challenge Islands. Something likely connected them all, and already her heart was starting to rush with the adrenaline to find out just what. Even if Team Aqua and Team Magma had long since been defanged, it seemed the real fun had only begun.
~~~~~~~~~~
You know, for all of Flora's bad writing, something about this scene right after we get home really just created a solid visual for me for how well I could just hear these conversations playing out. Not the greatest, but a spur of the moment fic I just HAD to write as not even my occasional outbreak of L 0 R E in the summaries could capture this moment proper.
Previously on Flora Sky: We took on Team Magma at their base in Charpos before a mad scramble broke out in trying to beat them in a race to Deep Forest to stop Maxie from obtaining the Red Orb, We have a network of allies form around Hannah, including new-to-the-group, Champion Cynthia! We get the Master Ball from Mr. Stone before heading out to stop Maxie from waking up Groudon. Heading from the Polar Forest into the Deep Forest, we found ourselves ALMOST too late as Maxie managed to find the Red Orb only to have Archie arrive on the scene to reveal the orb was actually a fake. Mad to be tricked, Maxie took off for parts unknown and a Celebi rose out of the shrine to pull Hannah into portal! D8 Hannah managed to escape the Torn World by rescuing the Shaymin she met before. Granted, the only way to save it was to capture the injured and aggressive little creature with the Master Ball, but our newest Colorblind Clan member, Acid, seems to have warmed up to Hannah quickly after she healed the little hedgehog. After waking up at Sky’s house in Malias City, we did a little bit of exploring, including the Malias Library, where we met and then later fought Gym Leader Leria. Now that we have the ability to surf, it’s out to sea as we seek out Route AB after receiving a call from A.A. mentioning something about him having trouble…
We start the day both training and Badger Hunting along Route T where we find new trainers and even a few new berry trees to garden before we find a place to Surf back into Puel City.We start off by wandering town a bit, and find the the trendiest place in town, the Dewford Hall erm… Actually we didn’t check the sign to see if it’s been renamed to Puel Hall or what, but it serves the same function. The bored townsfolk come here to exchange tips on what’s “trendy” and learn new phrases so they can be considered part of the “in” crowd. Hannah talks to a middle aged guy who tells her how the hip new thing right now is NEED HOLIDAY. Is there some connection between NEED HOLIDAY and HERO? Well any hero worth their salt probably needs a vacation. And after all this Torn World nonsense, Hannah totally agrees.
OH YEEEAAAAH! You know what I forgot to mention last time we were here? THAT JERK IN FRONT OF THE MUSEUM! -Ahem- A recap within the recap, but back on Day 1 when we first passed through here, there was a man in a suit who said that no one was allowed to enter without having at least FOUR BADGES when we didn’t even have ONE. Why? Who even knows, but since we’re not in the middle of some kind of major Team crisis right now, let’s check this joint out. Gotta love that sound delay though XD Hannah tries talking to the Aqua guard in the back room again, but no luck. She’s onto you, Aqua. ON. TO. YOU.
But for now, she leaves for Route B where, because we have Surf now, she swims over to the cave across the way where she discovers a Lost Cave with nothing in it. Hmm… Might need to come back later? Onward to the Polar Forest though for MOAR BADGER HUNTING! >O This is seriously all we do for the next several hours. Hannah does eventually make her way back to the shrine where the confrontation against Maxie had taken place, and carefully inspects it. There seems to be a strange hole in the shrine, but that’s all she can make out for the the thing. Perhaps the REAL Red Orb was supposed to go there? But where is it now? She takes the quiet clearing as a chance to use Max Revives on most of her team and heads back to training. Super secret ninja training that we Voices are not allowed to see apparently 8D
We decide to try Surfing to reach new areas of the forest, finding lots of new Pokemon and even a few hidden items. We also find the various trainers who have returned since Aqua and Magma left. Lore time! We’ve no idea how common it was for people to come here before Magma, since our first encounter with even the forest entrance was it being blocked off by Magma Grunts in the area. They later brought up that during their research there was when Roy saw or at least heard about the red light that MIGHT have been the Red Orb. Now that they’re no longer guarding it though, I half wonder how many of the trainers are just visitors and how many came looking for this “red glow” after word possibly got out about the Red Orb and Celebi being in these woods. Among the trainers, we find Ranger Jackson who jumps Hannah as she climbs out of the river all “Who’s got the techniques and knowledge for survival? RANGERS DO! >O” none of this silly Ninja nonsense! Except she beat him and his Xatu flat between Acid and Penguin. Jackson quickly apologizes, saying it looks like he doesn’t have the “know-how” after all. He asks for her number so she can train HIM and hopes that she won’t mock him for his lack of knowledge when they have their next rematch. Hannah makes no such promises about mocking, but decides to take him on anyway. New ally acquired! \o/
More forest trekking, but we do FINALLY get out of the Polar Forest to heal up and decide to head for Mt. Fullmoon for a sweet change of pace! If you all might recall, the last time we came through, all the tunnels leading farther into the caves beyond the two plot relevant ones were all blocked with boulders that required Strength. Guess what we have~! <3 Miss Tea gets to show off her new STAB forces in shoving them aside easily and allowing the Colorblind Clan access to the murky depths…. So murky in fact, we can’t see a thing! The place is dark and maze-like and Hannah almost runs into the hiker in the deepest part of the known mountain. Unfortunately, this room will have to stay that way for now since the fat man won’t let us pass because it’s ~too dangerous~~ in the deeper parts of the mountain. Well… he may be right when our team ranges from Level 29 to 50, so we’ll just use our handy Escape Rope to…. fail? Look, Mr. Mysterious Voice claiming to be our father, there IS a time and place for things! If this ain’t a cave, where the heck are we??? D8 (Although, now that I think about it, it just says “Dad’s advice” and not actually hearing anything, so it could just be Hannah’s memory of what he always said or did that keeps her from doing things? We don’t know who he is this time around, but he must have left some impact...)
Continuing our quest to explore the great unknown, Hannah heads through Small Town to check out the lakes on Route D and in Bee-bug Forest nearby. Given her recent encounter with the creature, Hannah goes to check out the Celebi Statue near the Small Town exit that states it was made to celebrate Celebi as a hero for helping humans save the forest. …. Weird. Though as a forest guardian, I wonder if watches over ALL the forests in Flora given the surprise in Polar Forest.
We continue to travel a WHILE, eventually ending up making our way all the way back to the Hippowdon Temple for what chat calls “Coffin Quest”. Granted, this is still Badger Hunting for a Cofagrigus, but doesn’t that just sound all kinds of cool and creepy for an operation? Hannah's gonna go all Tomb Raider on us before this is over. 8D With our quest finally completed, we take our new ghosty friend and head for Habutest Town where we take off, out to sea once more to continue our adventure!~
But not before…. Miss Tea? Is there um… something you’d like to tell us, hon? D8
Just off the coast of Searound City, we find the Abandoned Ship! D8 It’s an old and drafty place, but it seems safe enough with all the other people running around. There’s an old sailor blocking the stairs, which means Hannah should probably stay in the upper quarters where it’s dry. … For now.We continue to explore the seas around this pair of islands and eventually find a small island on Route V where…. okay, I know this got mentioned in the forum, but this is hilarious and long. We find wild Castform and Wynaut and due to Chat G R E E D, we had most of our team getting beaten up by bitties. Including our Lv51 Empoleon losing to a Lv11 Castform XD
Where to now though? Why it’s PROGRESS!!!! \o/ After much wandering of the ocean, we find a desolate looking beach on Route AC that actually belongs to the end of Route AB. Thankfully, for all the weird rock rubble on the beach, the route itself seems to be beautifully grassy. Not that we get very far into it before running into A.A.! 8O A.A. is glad to see Hannah on the scene at last as it appears he got jumped by several members of the Azurill Gang that are blocking the path. Four of them this time, so it’s looking pretty rough. He explains that he wasn’t really IN trouble, just having trouble with the little aquatic rats. He’s strong! Here, let him show her with a battle! (Okay, actually he says he wants to see if she’s been raising her Pokemon, but dude? You saw her in action, she’s taken on an entire squad of Aqua before taking on the boss of Magma last time you two saw each other. I doubt he’d be questioning this at this point XD )
A.A. now has a Xatu, a Poliwhirl, and a Torterra! Hannah… currently only has Aga the Gallade and Penguin the Empoleon available, but that’s really more than enough for this pipsqueak. Aga takes out the first two while Penguin managed to tank an Earthquake from Torterra before Drill Pecking it unconscious. Good match? A.A. just laughs and says that it seems Hannah went off training without him even noticing. (It’s okay, seems you did too at some point? XD) But! He’s glad to see she’s staying sharp. Here, have a Gold Pass! What? Don’t know that that is? “You can Golden City with it! Mr. April told me that we can find the way to make these Pokemon let us pass there.” …. I suppose he means that Mr. April can sail us to Golden City, home to many who’ve had to deal with and learned to thwart the Azurill Gang. XD
We blackout to head to Searound City where we left Mr. April the first time he gave us a ride. Oddly, we found his Lapras when we were in Habutest, so it seems he actually did go home while Hannah was caught up in crisis events. Ah well, turns out, we don’t need him anyway! Hannah takes her Gold Pass to the Charpos Isle Ferry who accepts these passes and took us there easy!
Making her way up the dock, Hannah is greeted by none other than Mr. April himself! He says that he’s glad to see she can use Surf now since she won’t be relying on him to take her places anymore. Old sea dog that he is, he’s been traveling to many towns since she last saw him. And now, to think after all their traveling apart, they should meet here! Why is he here? Well turns out he’s been called on by some old friends to help in building a ship. In fact, she’s an old friend, so why not join him for some coffee? She’s gotten to be quite the young lady and there’s a Coffee Bar here in town, and he’d like to take her for a drink. And uh…. Tell her about a little bet he’s got going on between him and his friend at the shipyard. Sounds like fun but first, it’s a new land which means new explorations! She checkpoints at the Pokemon Center and heads for the fields out east.
And do I mean fields. There’s several ranchers and breeders along Route AD and patches of field so high, Hannah can’t run or ride her bike or, heck, even really see as it goes over her head. We find that all these don’t belong to Golden City though as the farmland turns into smaller plots and houses that make up the quaint little Honey Village. The main farm seems to be in a bit of trouble though since one of it’s Miltank is very sick and needs a Lum Berry. Unfortunately, for all her gardening and travels, Hannah has yet to find one. ;o;
As we continue on through the trees and down the river, we come to a road where we find none other than three members of the Azurill Gang! Boy these little guys must have some mad networking skills to even set up entire islands away from Turzoro City. Fortunately, Cynthia just happened to be walking by and noticed Hannah getting harassed by the Azurill. She’s so happy to see Hannah though and brings up that since the affair in Polar Forest, she hasn’t seen ANY Aqua or Magma! The region is so peaceful now, thanks to Hannah. Isn’t it wonderful? And the climate of this village is soooo comfortable. Oh, but there is still the matter of the Azurill, isn’t there? Well, Cynthia suggests Hannah goes to the Honey Bar where she can make a ~Secret Potion~ that should make the Azurill scatter. These little nuisances like to block the road sometimes. (We’ve noticed. XD ) In fact! Cynthia has some on her right now for just such an encounter and she gives Hannah the Secret Potion to use! I’m not sure if it’s something foul or considered a payment toll for it’s sweetness, but either way the Azurill drink the potion and are stunned! Giving a bit of a hop and cry, the trio turn and head down the road. Cynthia tells Hannah there’s no need to give it back. She knows how to make more. For now, Hannah should hang onto it to give to the other clusters of Azurill to continue on her journey. But for now? Cynthia has a date with Mr. Stevens. Who...? Doesn’t matter since this is the point where they part ways.
We find more of the village down the now open road, including a house that seems to have a giant hole in it’s roof. No surprise, it’s because the secret to Honey Village is apparently GIANT COMBEE D8
We also find the Honey Bar Cynthia just told us about and buy a few jars for the road before heading back towards Golden City…. And onto the ship, completely ignoring our invite to the Coffee Bar and making our way all the back to Platepics City and onward. Oops XD Remember the Water Cave from back on Day 1? Cause I sure didn’t. Last time Hannah only stepped in, got beat up by a double battle, and decided it wasn’t worth it. NOW however, is payback time >O
Bizarrely enough, the Water Cave is made all the creepier by having the Drought music as it’s theme. We find out why it’s called the Water Cave though as once we reach the pitch black underside of the cave, the floor is just flooded and frozen. Hanna decides to throw away / use several items from her bag to make it easier to stay afloat in case she needs to swim farther in. The deeper we go, the colder it gets as now we enter a sliding puzzle that was all worth it cause we got HM07 Waterfall! 8O
Having found the cave’s treasure, we do a bit of last minute badger quests before using an Escape Rope to return to the entrance. It actually works this time. XP Hannah heads back to Platepic City where she finds an “Aerial Full Heal” and heads for the Trainer School. Bit late for her to be attending school, but she heads to the front of the class and gives a Career Day demonstration receives a Quick Claw from the teacher for stopping by. <3
Further exploration of the town, Hannah heads into one apartment building to meet with a man who teaches Ninat the Gabite Rollout! (He is slowly becoming the one true Meme Dragon XD ) We also find a boy who wants to give us a Pinco for a Growlithe, but that ain’t happening. In the next building though… well… it’s a bit of a strange place with an air of magic to it. In fact, this seems to be the home of The Name Rater! We start off by renaming Ninat to NODEEWe9! Or as the chat immediately calls him… No Dew. We also FINALLY give Penguin a proper nickname and call the Empoleon xq”! (Xquote? Pingu XQ? XQ? I’m gonna call him Quixote!) And we name our Shedinja Avvvv33333! (Awww Sheddy wants to < 3 us so bad, but can’t find the right character~)
We head to the mausoleum from our last trip here to catch a Haunter only to discover that one of the tombstones is different from the others. Hannah puzzles on this aloud and spooks some of the Chat but doing so and wonders if there’s something she can use to get at it’s secret. Ponderisms… But for now, back to Haunter hunting.
We use the Mach Bike we traded for while poking around the outskirts of town, and make our way to the forests just outside of town; the same area we found Caitlin in when we had to return her to the gym, and find an old house that’s still within the city limits. It’s blocked off by a tree though and has long since been abandoned. Getting in, it looks to be another mausoleum? And much bigger too! D8 Nothing spooky happens though and it turns out this is the Abandoned House the researcher in Malias Library said housed the legendary Yellow Shard. I noticed earlier that the Red Shard we found was in our Key Items pouch so these normally tradeable / sellable fragments actually have some greater purpose for… something in this game. Curious.
We continue our quest for the Uncompleted Side Quests and head for what would normally be the Winstrate House. They don’t seem to call themselves the Winstrates in this hack though, but last time we tried this, we got our tail handed to us by Grandma. Well, naturally, coming back to fight a group of trainers in the same area as the second gym with a team preparing for the sixth gym we DOMINATED this “challenge” XD Still, a quest is a quest, and for our effort, we get the Macho Brace! 8O
Having Strength and Surf now, we can reach the deepest depths of Dark Cave, which Hannah decides now would be a good time to do so. Or… well… sorta. We go deep enough that we find a couple of high level trainers and a new section of the cave that requires a short walk on the outside of the mountain to reach before entering the new section. It seems we could go farther in since there’s a ladder on the other side of a small pond, but first we get HM08 DIVE! 8O And then instead of going up the ladder, we decide that’s enough spelunking for now and just leave. XD
This match is just really out of the way, like we had to Surf the lake on Route J just to reach this narrow path to fight a single trainer, and it’s not even anything special. But the match and Chat’s reaction was hilarious and we got a Spell Tag for it, so I guess it’s worth mentioning. Good job, Nodew. Wahahah
We get back to the Open Air Market in Habutest Town where Hannah showed the clerk from earlier that she has learned the rumored ~Secret Power~ which he seems pleased to see. The shops are now open to selling decorations and booby-traps that Hannah can use to protect her own personal secret Ninja hiding place. After that, it’s off to the Festa Plaza where Hannah tries out aaaallll the games, including the Skitty Tent one that required the Mach Bike. Which we failed miserably at. However, we did good at the Set KO tent where Hannah won and got a Hyper Potion! <3 Having done all there is to see here at least once, it’s time to get back to the mainland.
We spend a lot of time seeming to aimlessly wander around. At least we found another Sun Stone near the Bee-bug Forest. We also stop by Small Town to check up on AirBnB (he’s grown by 16 levels now 8O ), head over to the Birches to see if A.A. is home (he’s not, so Hannah decides to mess around in his room and read his E-mails on the computer XD ) and of course no trip would be complete without a visit to see Mom. <3
We do eventually make our way back to Route AB where we now have the Secret Potion to help us chase away the Azurill Gang~! But before we do, we head up the mountain trail a little bit to pick up TM31 Brick Break! 8O Having thwarted the mice, we find a field with wild Onix (among other things, but Onix outside a cave is… unusual) and some berries!
We finish out the day catching a few Pokemon, blacking out to a Bird Keeper, and then having to make our way all the way back to Route AB from Snowround City again. XD Still, it looks like we’re entering some forest covered mountains so the next town is long out of sight. Good luck, Hannah. \o/
~~~~~~~
Day 4 (part 2)
Man we covered a LOT of ground today, didn't we? Got to meet up with some old friends, got to make some new ones, got to go literally tomb raiding at the temple and Abandoned House, and even found some new areas to add to the map.
As always let me know if I missed anything~! Thank you for your patience <3
Previously on Flora Sky: Hannah hit a hard wall when trying to defeat Voice Bane and Turzoro City Gym Leader; Wattson! She managed to rebuild her team, get a LOT of grinding in and not only took down one but TWO gyms before the day was out. Having dealt with the members of Team Aqua in Snowround City to free the Underground, we begin our day in gorgeous and tropical Charpos Island. With four badges now under our belt, let’s see what new adventures await…
Having quite the full day before, Hannah begins where we left off in goofing off and exploring the beautiful landscapes of the island. While taking in the sights and fun of the beach, she runs into a Fisherman who gives her a Good Rod that Chat decides they want to use right away!
We’ve apparently traveled a LOT farther than originally expected as while wading in the shallows, we discover Route W some ways to the east of the island and there seems to be potentially another island. We don’t explore very far into it to know how far this stretch of land goes as Hannah pulls out her PokeNav to call home… only to realize she never got Mom’s number nor does she know her home phone number after only being in the place for less than a day. She hangs up before pulling up the call list again and hesitates a moment on whether to call Wally or A.A. since it seems her trouble senses are tingling and ends up calling Caitlin instead. Caitlin may be a Normal type specialist, but we know she’s anything but normal herself. In actuality she tells us how the gym is to be reopened eventually like all the leaders do but I’d like to think story wise she gave us some actual foresight that Hannah needed to hurry back to town.
It’s a good thing she did too because running up the first set of steps in Charpos City, Hannah finds Wally just as the peaceful town music switches into high gear. Wally notices Hannah’s presence and begs her to come see the commotion going down as now there is both an Aqua AND a Magma Grunt squaring off in front of the port entrance. Luckily they hadn’t noticed the kids yet, but Wally takes Hannah aside to explain to her how both Teams were pretty well known in the area and they caused trouble for Charpos all the time! The pair go quiet as they overhear the Magma Grunt shouting how this island is Magma territory and therefore no Aquas were allowed. The Aqua Grunt laughs and explains how everything on the sea should belong to Team Aqua and that includes the islands; starting with the harbor! Wally whispers how ever since these two groups started fighting over the island, Charpos hasn’t been the peaceful town it used to be. It may seem wrong, but he knows how strong Hannah is. Help him punish these fiends!
Well, Hannah’s not gonna say no to giving these punks a beating and she and Wally run up to ambush the quarreling team members before they know what hit them. The Grunts are naturally in disbelief to be ganged up on by a couple of kids and a battle immediately gets underway. The Aqua Grunt certainly is no pushover as his Seadra’s Poison Point ends up being a pain to deal with as Prinplup and Shedinja find out the hard way. Still, with a bit of team work between those two before the poison took out Shedinja, Aga was able to have a close call in defeating it. Wally apparently took out the Magma Grunt while Hannah took care of the other, and the Magma very bitterly screams how this isn’t the last they’ll see of hiiiiiiiiiim and flees. Good job, Wally! As for the Aqua Grunt, laughable as that was to watch his rival get beaten down by such an obvious wimp, he’s actually NOT done and threatens Hannah that he’s still got more Pokemon to keep battling. Lucky for the kids, his PokeNav goes off with a call from one of the Admins saying all units were to report in. Guess he better hurry to the harbor then…. Once they’re both gone, Wally heaves a huge sigh of relief and says he and Hannah should head back to his house to rest up. Along the way back there, he explains that since Team Magma has been the one reigning control over the island, there’s been several building projects and activities lately that seems super suspicious to him. It’s a lot to ask, but he wonders if Hannah would be up for a little ~investigation~ into what exactly has been going on while he’s been away from home working for Prof. Birch. If she’s up for it, he’d like to meet her outside the Magma Building.
Hannah heals up and heads for the beach to get in some fresh air and GET HYPE! before heading up to the gaudy and painfully obvious Magma Building. It’s a skyscraper of a lab compared to anything else in the area, painted red with a large M on the front to serve as their logo. Unfortunately, she had a feeling that as it appeared to be the Team Magma headquarters, no doubt she’d be dealing with Hank, Roy and Maxie once more. As so, she decides to start off being a little more cautious in her infiltration of the building, carefully staking out one of the workers and slipping on up to the teleporter. Ah… they have teleporters. That’ll make it hard to see what’s coming…
Sure enough, Envy steps out of the first teleporter to find a guard waiting on the other side but he’s no match for the swift teamwork of Penguin and Aga who unfortunately gets burned by the Grunt’s Slugma. (What have you done, sir? Do you know what you’ve started?! D8 ) It wasn’t all bad though as Penguin evolved into Empoleon! 8O The man doesn’t seem too deterred by being beaten though and simply states that Roy has been working hard on researching Groudon and he firmly believes Team Magma will find it soon enough. Duly noted, Grunt, duly noted…
Envy continues to make his way through the red checkered corridors, sneak attacking Grunts and picking up some more information as to what it is Team Magma is doing exactly. What we learn then: 1) Roy is doing research on Groudon for Maxie. That isn’t news since when we rescued Mr. Stone, the team leaders had been demanding he tell them any information he had on Groudon. 2) As to WHY they want Groudon, Envy learns from a Grunt that the Pokemon somehow has the ability to create more land, which Magma plans to use to give people more places to live. 3) A researcher tells him that Groudon is a legendary who is huge, heavy, and tough. 4) Another scientist warns him how even as much of a maze the building has already been, it only gets harder. Sure enough, heading up stairs reveals multiple Teleporters to choose from in going forward.
Teleporters… storage rooms… Teleporters… storage rooms. Dang this place sure had a lot of teleporters leading into dead ends. Still, among all the crates of equipment and Pokefeed, Envy did find something interesting. TM46 Thief! How fitting XD He could also hear just on the other side of the wall a familiar voice… Dammit Wally! You were the one who said to meet out front!
Many MANY trials with the teleporters later, Envy switches back to Hannah and runs up to where Wally is seen trying to peek around a corner into the next room. At least the kid is safe, but that likely means there’s trouble ahead. Wally is startled at first, but quickly whispers to her that the people just ahead are some of the big dogs of campus. Roy, Hannah can recognize just fine, but Wally explains that the woman he’s talking to is one of the Magma Admins named Courtney. They both hush up and listen in as Roy excitedly tells Courtney that he has at last found the means to awaken Groudon! There was a book he found at the Malias Library that told the legend of how a Red Orb could be used to capture the beast. AND! Their research at the Polar Forest was actually helpful since they saw a red light in the Deep Forest (now wait, is it in Polar Forest or Deep Forest or are those two connected somehow? Y’know what, never mind just listen) which he believes to be the Red Orb! Sounds like a bit of a stretch, but Courtney seems excited to hear it. She says how she’ll get ready to make an announcement to the team when- Uh oh! We've been spotted!
Courtney is steamed to wonder just how much of that these two kids managed to overhear and decides to fight! Don’t worry, Wally! Hannah’s got you covered! Our new big buddy Empoleon does a pretty good job in tearing up her Golbat but succumbs to confusion and knocks himself out before doing anything to her Magcargo. We manage to switch in for Ninat without trouble and destroy it with Dragon Rage! Courtney gets even angrier and calls for backup when suddenly it seems help has arrived for the kids!
It’s Sky! And he brought a friend! The woman demands Courtney leave… er… I think? Her language seems all kinds of butchered more so than we’ve seen from others. Courtney isn’t at all intimidated though and shrugs off the warning by saying they were done with this place anyway. Farewell then! The adults don't seem to pay this escape any heed and Sky introduces his friend as Cynthia; Champion of Flora! He asked Cynthia to help him expel the Magma from this…. IS THAT A POKENAV?! He immediately loses his train of thought and decides to register Hannah’s number. XD Now what was he saying? Wally tells the pair what they overheard and Sky seems concerned for the Polar Forest. Cynthia admits that while it is nice to be meeting new friends, this isn’t the time or place and she and Sky need to get back to the Platepics City Research Center with this news. After she leaves, Wally brings up that maaaybe he and Hannah should head to Platepics City too. Sky just hopes next time they all meet, they’ll have more time to talk. With that, the group has all split up and Hannah does a little bit of exploring before heading outside.
SURPRISE! Even though all the fuss and rustling is over, seems that Aqua Grunt from went and told his shipmates about the Magma scuffle he was in before Hannah and Wally showed up. Whatever the case, Archie comes charging up the steps with the Grunt, likely on his way to kick some Magma butt himself since they found the HQ, and stops when he sees Hannah. Strange to see her here, wasn’t she the brat who decided to kick them out of the Oceanic Museum? And now it seems she’s going after Team Magma as well…. What an odd child. He has learned her name though, so she ought to stay on her guard if she thinks she’s gonna go around making enemies with both sides. Perhaps she just doesn’t understand the reasons to the struggle.
As the Grunt runs past her to inspect the fortress for information on the now empty hideout, Archie decides he’d rather talk to the girl. But for the moment he’s more curious of her than anything. WHY does she seem to hate both sides? Surely with them being such opposites she should agree with one or the other, right? And if she were to choose one, he would suggest she side with Team Aqua. They may be extreme in their beliefs, but Team Magma is extreme in their actions, leaving destruction in their wake as they claim to expand the seas. It is a threat to the Sea-loving Aqua to have the waters be choked out like that. …. …. …. The Grunt returns with the same information Hannah overheard: Team Magma is heading for the Polar Forest to seek out the Red Orb! (Though from a lore point, how terrible would it be if, after he explained how dangerous Magma actually is, she just told him herself?) With this new piece of information, Archie is determined that Team Magma needs to be stopped before they find that Legendary! He leaves Hannah with a word that if she planned to continue in her own sense of justice, just be careful, and keep an eye out for Team Magma. They are the real threat after all…
More surprises, no sooner did they leave, we get a call from Mr. Stone who seems to somehow have the capabilities to teleport us via the PokeNav despite having just told us we could use the Teleport Service by the Pokemon Center. … Sure. Whatever. It’s potentially an emergency since he called to tell us everyone else from the Base Raid has already arrived.
Well! Since we’re suddenly back in Platepics City, even if we weren’t ready and I’m sure Mr. April is still hanging out on the beach and wondering if Hannah planned to come back before the end of the week, guess we’ll just carry on as usual. Healing up, buying Poke Balls, playing with our bike and teasing the idea of just skipping town before heading to the tower. Hannah does eventually go to the Research Center where, just like her first visit here, upon entering she shifts over to Envy.
Technology is amazing! As Envy makes his way through the maze of a tower, he finds out that the Research Center allows the public to come in to ask for help with their Pokemon and are responsible for making all kinds of devices to make things better for Trainers. After failing a pop quiz from an old man, he tries again with a different set of questions and earns himself an EXP SHARE! 8O He also finds a scientist who has finally crafted Flora’s very own Fossil Reviver and a man who says he plans on going into space. Huh, the company must be working on a rocket somewhere then…
Upon reaching Mr. Stone’s office, or at least where we saved him last time, the room is… empty! However, the man in the green suit from last time isn’t blocking the stairs this time (perhaps it was to keep Magma from getting into the real treasure trove of the building) which Envy decides to explore. More. Floors. Egads this place is huge! At last we make it to Mr. Stone’s office where he has Prof. Birch and Cynthia at his desk in discussing the current issue when he notices Envy has arrived. Come quickly, lad, there’s some urgent news! He heard from Cynthia what they found out at the Magma Building and so it seems Envy has learned about Magma’s plans to awaken Groudon. While police had been keeping an eye on the Magma Building for some time but with the building empty now, there’s little point to that anymore. Now they have been seen in the Polar Forest! See, legend states that a long time ago, there was a great clash between the Titan of the Land and the Titan of the Sea and…
He cuts himself off because while that may be important, we really don’t have time to be going over the old legends. What’s important NOW is going after Team Magma and stopping them before such old tales can come to life once again. Sky and Wally have already gone on ahead and Cynthia announces it’s high time she and Envy got over there as well. Professor Birch also takes that as time to leave and comes around the desk to greet Envy. It sure is nice to see the kid has grown up to be so strong and active in protecting their new homeland in such a short time and he asks that while they’re there, he should register Envy in his PokeNav since things are looking like they’re gonna be getting serious. With that, he explains that his part in the operation requires he head back to the lab and take some materials he got from Mr. Stone and get them ready. Good luck to Envy though in taking on this very hard task head on. Just know that he and everyone else will be there to support us. (Professor… ;o; ) After he leaves, Mr. Stone calls Envy over to give what little he can to help in this task. We received the Master Ball! 8O He wishes the young man the best of luck and also gives his support in how he believes Envy WILL be the one to save them. We get the EXP SHARE onto AirBnB and the Master Ball to Ninat for safekeeping before heading out.
After making our way back through the Bee-bug Forest, Hannah takes a different turn this time and uses Air Cutter to head into a new branch of Route B she couldn’t before. There she gets jumped by Ninja Boy Takashi who warns her to always be alert of her surroundings else she find a world of pain. (Guess he knows where we’re off to, huh? XD ) Hannah gets in a huff as his Ninjask swiftly takes down AirBnB and she sends out Shedinja for a true ninja showdown! Takashi knows he cannot hurt her counterpart, but he takes advantage in knowing she can’t hold out forever either; spamming Double Team and Swords Dance in preparation for whoever will follow when Fury Swipes runs out! As much as Shedinja kept missing, as little damage as it was doing, Sheddy still managed to hold out and land a hit for victory! 8D But Takashi isn’t done yet and sends out a Koffing that spams Smokescreen until Shedinja can’t hit with (or use) Fury Swipes any more, rendering it useless. However, she switches over to Penguin and while he tries to cast a Smokescreen to protect himself, our Starter finishes him off with a Drill Peck no problem! Takashi has to concede defeat and tells her how surprisingly good she’s gotten, and allows her access to the Moon Stone he was guarding. Sweet! <3
We head on into Small Town where Hannah makes her first priority... the PokeMart. Okay, but after that her first priority was to head over to the Pokemon Lab where she found A.A. managing the place while his dad is occupied with whatever it was Mr. Stone asked him to do. One of the assistants explains that Professor Birch is an expert on the habitats and distributions of Flora’s wild Pokemon. (Makes me wonder if he was called into all this cause he knows something about Groudon’s actual home…) Well since there’s not much else to find around here, Hannah heads back out and makes her way over to the Day Care where… it’s time to say goodbye to AirBnB. It’s unfortunate, but the Gligar was falling too far behind in levels and that last battle just seemed to prove he was out of his league with even somewhat friendly battles being too much. Take care, little one~! ;o;
Of course, no trip to Small Town would be right without stopping by to see her mother. Hannah remembers well how she realized she had no way to call her the last time she needed some advice, and Mom is quite happy to see her drop in. Is that a PokeNav? REGISTER! But also, what has Hannah been up to all this time? Well… not to worry her, Hannah shows off the badges she’s earned which delights her mother to see. Doing the League Challenge, is she? Well here’s an Amulet Coin to help! 8D <3 Hannah takes a short rest in her fairly clean and mostly unused bed before setting out on the road again as Mom wishes us luck. ;o;
Heading through Mt. Fullmoon, Hannah eventually makes it to the Polar Forest’s entrance where Sky trots over happy to see her arrive. However, he warns her that the forest is huge and filled with many dangers; not including the numerous Magma and Aqua that have started fighting in the deeper depths. For that, he has to test her strength before allowing her to pass. (Why not have Wally do this, sir? If you’re so strong, you should be dealing with the Teams. |D;; ) Unfortunately… he’s right. B L A C K O U T 8D;
Okay, the second round was REALLY close but pfffhahahahahaha classic fail XDD
It’s actually on round 5 (if I counted right?) that we finally make it past Sky thanks to Penguin just CRUSHING THIS FIGHT! >O Okay, to be more specific, we’d mostly been struggling to make a dent into Sky’s Hippowdon while it could basically one-shot most of our team while healing off the damage inflicted to keep the Colorblind Clan from being able to team up on it. THIS TIME, after our Empoleon knocked Vulpix aside with Bubblebeam and faced off against the Hippowdon, Sky had his hippo try to heal off the damage while Penguin did more damage than it could heal. Normal, except Sky for some reason totally blew it by using his one attack attempt on Crunch instead of Earthquake, which did little more than a dent to our Steel-ly warrior here. Sky tried to use a Hyper Potion, but Penguin did some massive damage (without a crit even, I’m not sure why that one did more than usual) and was able to finish it off on the next turn without a fight. Last up was Leafeon! Which went down to Drill Peck, but not without putting up a valiant effort with a Grasswhistle / Giga Drain combo to take Penguin down before he could wake up. Too bad, Sky, WE WIN! 8D <3 Sky is in honest shock and can only give a “wow” before telling Hannah how she really surprised him. BUT! Don’t forget to heal up before entering the forest!
The game actually doesn’t give us a chance to do that though as the cutscene has Hannah enter anyway where we find A.A. just as surprised to see her here as she is of him. Didn’t she just see him back in town, how’d he get here? WHY is he here? Wasn’t he supposed to be watching the Lab? He says that his dad told him about Team Magma’s scheme. Also Cynthia and the others have moved deep into the forest already and they should really catch up. Without further explanation he takes off into the Polar Forest, leaving Hannah filled with suspicion and caution as she makes her way at her own pace. Something strange was definitely going on in these woods…
We run into a Team Aqua Grunt who’s upset that Team Magma got here ahead of them, but interestingly, after the battle, he explains he thought Hannah was a Magma member who had come back. Come… back? Have they already left? We better hurry! Except after a few battles later, Hannah blacks out before getting to the heart of the Polar Forest. Envy decides he needs a bit of stress relief and goes to the Berry Master’s garden to both pick and plant before heading back into the fray. (Note, the transformation powers that be seem to be totally on the fritz during all this as our kid keeps changing nearly every time they interact with the garden XD Maybe it really is related to Shaymin after all)
We head on into Puel City for… reasons??? And Hannah heads on into the Museum where she looks around for a while before meeting with the curator. He says he has a special exhibition hall he wants to fill with modern and vibrant paintings of Pokemon but for now it’s unfortunately blank. If Hannah should happen to find any such works, he’d like for her to show him. Okayyy?? Well this was a nice detour while the world is in danger. XD
-SPIT TAKE!- OR PERHAPS I SPOKE TOO SOON! Seems Hannah (or someone in the chat) knows more than I do as in this hidden museum room is an Aqua Grunt she tries to hound for information on the current situation but he claims to know nothing other than the room he’s guarding is for Team Aqua only. They rent it, it’s legal, why she gotta be so rude?! (Lore-wise, part of me wants to say he actually does know something so all this wasn’t a total waste.)
We eventually get back to the Polar Forest where Hannah makes her way deeper than before, so deep she found a quaint little cottage. The only one there seems to be an old woman who tells Hannah to sleep for a while. Upon waking though, the woman doesn’t seem to believe Hannah when she says she’s rested, and tells her to sleep longer. Hannah, having already had several pieces of weirdness happen in this forest already seems leery of the offer and flees. After getting passed the pair of grunts we passed out to before, Hannah gets surprised to find that there ARE still some Magma members around as she finds one that doesn’t want to attack her for some reason. Best not push her luck, she doesn’t talk to him and hurries on ahead.
With some steady precautions (and monarchy mode) Hannah gets a Super Potion from Miss Tea that the Linoone picked up earlier and uses a Repel. Teaches Shedinja Air Cutter so we have less chance of finding herself in the same mess she was with Takashi, and gives Aga the EXP SHARE so she might start to catch up with the rest of the group. \o/
We then run into a Grunt who’s worried about Hannah trying to find the Orb like everyone else is and puts up a fight to stop her from pursuing the matter any further. It seems like a good time to head back to the Old Lady’s Rest House before continuing onward. And boy was it good that we did because a few bends in the road later, Hannah ducks behind a tree as she spots Archie telling a few of the Aqua members to guard the pathway. No one is to follow him! She waits for the guards to take their posts before running up between them where she finds they aren’t mere grunts, one of them is an Admin!
Aqua Admin Matt starts off with a Gyarados while Hannah started off with Penguin and Miss Tea, and they do okay despite the Grunt’s Golbat casting confusion on Penguin. However, Matt got lucky when, after using a Super Potion, the Grunt followed up with a Crit Bite attack to take out the Linoone! D8 Having just seen a Bite attack, sending out Shedinja was a bad idea, yes it was, and there he goes. As does Aga but at least Penguin was able to take out Gyarados before she got knocked out so we got some points (and a level)! Bringing out Ninat the Gabite, we get to see Golbat go down making it a two-on-one battle against Matt’s Cloyster. The pair of each take a free shot at the Cloyster before it gets a chance to attack! Victory! 8O Matt scoffs that even though he lost, Archie’s WAY more powerful than he is. He’s not worried! Archie will make SURE Maxie won’t get anywhere NEAR Groudon! Somehow… Hannah’s not so sure about that and heads on through to the heart called Deep Forest.
These woods are lovely dark and deep... But no really, they are. The Deep Forest is much darker than the Polar Forest was, and the paths are much more narrow. Fortunately after the roughing up just received, we run into Sky who, uh... Doesn’t seem very enthused to see us, but also notices how hurt we are and he heals up the team! And then disappears. …. Curiouser and curiouser. Ah well, better do as he says and keep going.
As we come around a bend, Hannah finds the path starting to widen, a set of stairs… a pair of statues long since worn down but their swords aimed to form an archway looking almost menacing. This must be home to a Legend… Hannah takes a moment to take the Master Ball from Ninat and put it in the top of her bag so she may take no chances in capturing Groudon. Just ahead, she can see Maxie and some of his members are already on the scene, the leader gloating how at long last he can see his dream realized. Just beyond this boulder that blocks the shrine… Suddenly Sky and Wally leap out from the other side of the statues and charge forward, only to have the two Grunts come up to block them from reaching Maxie. Maxie uses a device to completely OBLITERATE the boulder, leaving nothing but faint glints of dust as the Red Orb suddenly appears! Hannah rushes forward just as he gleams about no one being able to stop him from touching the Orb! Maxie is angry, asking how HE was to be caught off guard! But no matter, if it’s a fight she wants, she better prepare for a world of pain! Penguin outright ANNIHILATES him! XDD Taking two attacks on his Golbat, Penguin gets lucky with a Crit to one-shot his Camerupt, and then struggles a bit with Magmar after getting burned but really was in no danger at all. EAT IT, MAXIE, EAT IT! >O
-Ahem- Maxie is naturally angry, but tells Hannah how she still won’t stop him! She might not, but Archie arrives on the scene with a hearty laugh at how she doesn’t have to. See, that Red Orb? It’s not real. Maxie has NO idea what Archie is talking about, which the Aqua Leader points out there’s a lot of things he knows that Maxie doesn’t. Including that this forest may be a good place to hide the Red Orb, but THAT orb isn’t it. Watch! As Maxie turns around the Red Orb vanishes into thin air like an illusion leaving both Maxie and Hannah highly confused. Cynthia arrives on the scene with A.A. and is surprised to find both Team Leaders in the same place. She tries to use the opportunity to plead with them to stop seeking…. Just seeking in general I guess, before they ruin this land! Archie seems to feel for her a moment, but laughs off the idea because she really doesn’t need to beg for them to stop when there’s nothing here anyway. With that, he and Shelly will be on their way, which no one in the heroes’ ambush seems to mind. They came for Maxie anyway.
The Magma Leader isn’t one to be take so lightly, as before anyone can capture him, the man pulls the same stunt as he and the others had done in the Research Center, casting down a FLASH and vanishing from the woods. Cynthia approaches the shrine, but there’s no trace of him… She looks to Hannah and gives her thanks at least for helping them. “Team Magma and Team Aqua should no longer be excessive after this trouble.” I assume that means there just shouldn’t be as many of them from here on. Just as Wally finishes praising Hannah for her strength in taking down Maxie and says how they should probably get back to the Research Center to tell Mr. Stone what happened, the shrine seems to activate as a SHINY Celebi appears! 8O It phases THROUGH the party before opening a portal which sucks everyone into some weird white space. Floating…. Falling…. Our host hears someone calling….. Calling…
Hannah wakes up alone in the Torn World but it’s not nearly as dark as it was last time. The place is vast and treacherous, long flat plains that suddenly end to reveal black, bottomless chasms to keep one from jumping the gaps. It didn’t stop Hannah from looking though, trying to calculate any sort of way to get to the odd tree looking thing over one such jump. Deciding best not to try though, she keeps going until she finds an odd statue that looks like some monster’s face. Not much to it when she touched it, but something still seemed important about it. Push it? When she tries to give it a good shove, something strange…. TELEPORT!
We warp to the foot of a giant tree, but it’s not the one she was aiming for before. This one seems to be surrounded by a mysterious stone garden. Stepping into the garden reveals that the ground of the garden is frail as ice! A single step suddenly gives way to a hole in the ground, but Hannah seems fearless as always as she starts to make a path through the garden until she falls through. Ow…… But! It seems as bad as the fall was, it didn’t drop her into the abyss. Just back to the place she woke up the first time and she finds the odd monster head statue and goes back to the garden. Puzzle time! Getting all of the patches punctured it turned out there WAS a point to playing around with this dangerous game of hopscotch and a bridged formed over the nearby gap to the next land plate. Excellent!~
Monster statue? New tree? Figuring out a pattern sure would be nice, but shoving this statue just seems to rattle the entire Torn World! Best go look elsewhere then...While the statue didn’t cause anything immediately noticeable, is… is it snowing??? Rather faintly, but there does seem to be something small and white drifting down intermittently, but more importantly, a new bridge! But not enough. Two puzzles down, one more to go it seems if she wants to complete the pathway… All three gardens punched out without falling, go to the statue and-! More shaking. Hmm… might go check the bridges then.
Running down our newly made pathway, we suddenly come across Flash! Long time no see, ya old witch~! Flash is confused to what Hannah is doing in a place like this, which honestly she could be asking the same of Flash. However, after explaining that a Celebi opened a portal, Flash determines that the forest guardian must have been worried about the Shaymin that seems to dwell in this area? Or maybe it’s just lost? Either way, Hannah found a Shaymin the last time she got warped to this place, so she’s determined to find this thing if only to get home now. Flash warns Hannah though that Giratina and Dialga have continued their fighting in this broken world and….! There comes a loud roar from farther in and Flash realizes that they’re actually fighting nearby. Come quick!
Hannah follows Flash over to where we find the two dragons duking it out as the Torn World echoes and debris starts to fall from… somewhere? But then a new cry enters the fray as Shaymin appears between the two in its’ Sky Form! Casting a blue light over the area, it only seems to make the two giants angry before something else calls out of nowhere and Dialga and Giratina suddenly VANISH! Flash is just as confused as we are as to what caused them to disappear, but the more important thing right now is that Shaymin is looking pretty hurt. So hurt in fact it changed back into its’ Land Form. Going up to it, Shaymin seems confused and leery of the help and attacks! IT’S A SHINY~! 8D Good thing Hannah put the Master Ball in front because we-! … Decided to attack it with Bubblebeam and Rain Dance. XD Okay, but THEN we used the Master Ball! Our shiny new Shaymin is quickly named Acccddd! Acid? With Shaymin contained, Flash (or Shaymin? But more likely Flash) opens up a portal back to the real world where Hannah finally awakes to a strange bed in a strange house.
Downstairs she finds Flash and Sky talking when they notice Hannah is awake at last! Flash says that she’s already told everyone about what happened with Shaymin, but is all good now so BYE! Umbala, FLASH! Sky seems unfazed by this and brings up how worried everyone was when Hannah just disappeared before their eyes. Wally has already gone to tell Mr. Stone about what happened in the Deep Forest. After what happened with the Red Orb though, it doesn’t seem either Team Magma or Team Aqua have been as active after this most recent failure. The police also sealed off the Magma Building which will make it harder to figure out where Maxie and his team plan to go next… But! Since all seems to be well, Sky has a present for Hannah and gives her HM03 Surf! 8D<3 She’ll need the badge from here in town, but it’s good for crossing water once she does. Oh? Still confused? This is his home and Hannah is in his hometown! It’s a nice place isn’t it? He can hear the waves from here and wax poetry on life. Anyway, Hannah is free to continue her adventure now.
We step outside to discover we’ve arrived in Malias City! We do a little bit of exploring around into the other buildings before Hannah discovers the fabled Malias City Library. It’s a huge place with lots of books, and she makes her way through the winding shelves looking for the book Roy had mentioned he used to learn about Groudon back at the base. Perhaps not what she was originally looking for, but she finds a Scientist who tells her how he’s discovered a lot of things after reading some books, and was able to find at Blue Shard! He figures it’d do better in the hands of a traveler though and tells her that there’s tales of there being others in the Hippowdon Temple and the Abandoned House of Platepics City, but he can’t find those. (....-COUGH- I THINK I KNOW WHY -COUGH- ) Further exploration, Hannah also finds Leira, the Malias City Gym Leader. Leira says how the library has books from regions all over the world and is rumored to have a hidden room somewhere in the building. Not that the leader has ever found it, but it makes for a good story. However, Leira has also been hearing of Hannah’s adventures from Sky; fighting Team Magma’s leader and meeting Legendary Pokemon, how exciting! There’s a lot to be learned in books, but there’s more to learn in seeing it with her own eyes, isn’t there? But that seems to remind Leira that if Hannah is to continuing traveling, they’ll need to battle first. With that, the leader decides we’ll all meet at the gym!
Hannah decides she’d rather play the lottery, go fishing, and heal up first XD
We head for the Gym and- AWWW HEEEEELLL NAW! IT’S A WILD RIDE! D8 At least the programmer was kind enough to color coordinate which arrows go where, but still. Seems the gym is actually Steel themed, which would be a perfect training ground for our Penguin if he actually practiced any Steel-type moves. Ah well, it’s got a neat atmosphere once we get passed the spinners and enter the ~real~ gym with several tough trainers to boot. Also glitches, I think XD
Hannah reaches Leira who’s very calm in greeting her since this was an expected visit. It seems the leader only became a leader to test what she learned from the library in actual combat and would love for someone as experienced as Hannah to show her how it’s done! We defeat most of her team with Penguin, causing her to waste her potions early, and then after our Starter gets knocked out, realize that she can’t do anything to Shedinja. However, being Steel-types, there’s not much Sheddy can do either. The Bug manages to whittle down a good chunk of damage before using Struggle on her last Pokemon, Metang, leaving Ninat and Acid a chance to finish it off. Ninat wins! We get the Iron Badge! And TM47 Steel Wing! And an… awkward lecture with Leira saying we should challenge other Gym Leaders when we’ve now got 5 Gym Badges XD
Well with that out of the way, it looks like we’re heading out to sea. But first! We step outside the gym and get attacked by our first fanboy, erm, a middle-aged man named Scott who says he’s been looking for strong trainers like Hannah and tells her she should check out the Battle Tent! Oh, but it’s far away from here, so have a ship ticket to the island! And with that he is gone. What is with this region? XD
Our first trip on the open water, we find a young man working on a Secret Base. Since it seems like fun, he gives or perhaps teaches new ninja technique to Hannah TM43 Secret Power! Hannah decides she’s gonna check out that right away and set up a base on the spot! Further adventures out to see lets us find out that…. It seems all Experts are using Drayden’s sprite for some reason? Daaang demoted to random NPC. Guess I shouldn’t be too surprised since we find not much later the same thing happened Burgh being “Traveler”. Ohh gaaame. XD At least we got a Big Pearl and a Kings Rock for finding these two.
For all our sailing, we eventually make landing on the beautiful Charpos Island! But don’t stay as we hang for a little bit before heading to the Harbor to use our new ticket to go to the Festa Zone amusement park! Hannah gets a call from A.A. who… doesn’t sound all that great… At first he asks Hannah where she is, and after realizing she’s at the Festa Zone, says it sounds like fun. He went to Route AB after getting the Iron Badge and has gotten into trouble….. Oh! But never mind that, he’ll be fine! …. Hope to see her soon… Click…
Well that’s not OMINOUS AT ALL!~ But Hannah decides she’s here on a mission after she overheard some rumors on the ride over that if she could beat the Psyduck Battle Tent, she could get something to help Aga evolve. The poor little Kirla could use all the help she can get seeing how quickly she keeps going down in battle, even if she does do well when able to attack. Hannah fails the first tent she tries, which required using some Rental Pokemon, but that’s not the one she was after anyway so XP The next tent is a giant Skitty, which catches her interest before she learns that she needs a Mach Bike in order to play. Right. Guess she’ll just go on with what she came here fore and heads next door to the Psyduck Tent. Which… seems the Mini Game here is a vague attempt to mimic the Underground in the Sinnoh games where clicking around until the wall collapses to find stuff is the aim of the game. Fun! 8D
With our Sun Stone finally in hand, we manage to evolve Aga into a Gallade! 8D … Wait, isn’t Gallade a Male only Pokemon? Well in this game, sorta. Either gender of Kirlia can use the Sun Stone, but Gallade is still male. In all honesty, general lore says that Aga is the world’s first Female Gallade, and I stand by that. Female pronouns continue. ^ w ^
We continue to explore the Festa Zone and find a mysterious house that appears empty with a message hanging on the back wall. Hannah’s ninja senses tell her that she’s being watched though, and she immediately checks under the table where she finds the great mystery himself, The Trick Master. Due to her keen observation, he’s a bit curious about her and notes that he can tell, he just can, that this is a girl who thrives with a challenge. Who relishes puzzles! Yes, yes! Consider herself challenged then as he invites her to enter The Trick House! However, Hannah considers herself already challenged and heads back to the tent with the Rental Pokemon to fight until she wins. Her only reward is a Full Heal but HER PRIDE, DAMMIT! The need has been satisfied and now it’s back to the Trick House to see what that’s all about. What is it about? Trees, for one thing, lots of Cut-able trees and finding the hidden messages needed to unlock the back room where the Trick Master hides. Oh! But isn’t she the clever one? The Trick Master is both infuriated and pleased with this prominent young student and tells her he’ll have a much bigger challenge next time. She still has much to learn before she can be called his equal! Farewell then, puzzle man, she’ll be back.
As we start to make our way back to the mainland, we take a turn on the ocean routes and head for Ocepac Town, a very old, traditionalist fishing village really. We head for the Pokemon Center to heal up and harass a young guitarist by refusing to learn Explosion multiple times. We also find an old man who seems fond of Azurill that says he’s made a wondrous device! And all he asks in exchange is some Pulhia Tea. Which Hannah doesn’t have. No Tea? NO DEVICE. … Consider herself challenged, old man~! Oh, but before she leaves town, we got back to mess with the guitarist one last time and have him teach Explosion to Ninat. WAHAHAHAHA
After much trial and error in seafaring, Hannah eventually makes it to Route Z! AB can’t be much farther now, can it? However, she’s so beat up by this point, it seems Chat decided to seek out trainers to try to purposefully blackout. Penguin refuses to fall to such traps like usual and gains a few levels. 8D
We finally end the day by discovering the Move Relearner in Ocepac Town and go back to surfing along the outskirts of the small island community to go fishing and do some badger hunting. A very peaceful ending to a very long day. But what about A.A.? What are Magma and Aqua up to, even if they are in much smaller force? Where is the REAL Red Orb? All these will be answered in time, I'm sure. But for now.... For now we relax. <3
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
HOLY COW WE SLAMMED THAT PLOT PEDAL HARD ON THIS ONE~! 8O
We’ve got an allegiance going, and learning more about our bad guys, and getting new teammates and cruising on through the badge earning and our heroes are actually starting to get some depths at last.
Also, I’ll go back and fix it on Day 3, but I have been informed that Abner the Gligar’s chat name was actually AirBnB so it’s been corrected.
Bits of weirdness aside, yesterday had been pretty chill outside of our meeting Team Aqua, or at least a single grunt, who seemed very adamant about obtaining a PokeDex. Having returned that to Wally, we’re hanging out in Turzoro City for our next big gym match! Ah now, it’s a new day and a new grind! Because where we last saw our host, Hannah was doing some dedicated planning and training in preparing for her match against Wattson after changing out some teammates. I’m gonna miss Watchog and Comma but especially Bowza. RIP ;o;
We begin the day with Hannah going against Wattson for a purposeful blackout since the Voices were more intent on the PC than healing the team. She immediately goes back to challenge him for the first time with her new and improved team only to get DEMORALIZED by having him one-shot her first Pokemon (Ninjask) and when she switched in for Shedinja to spam some Double Team, he also switched in for an Emolga with Aerial Ace making both the attack and all her hard work on raising Nincada to Shedinja a total waste. At least… for this match. His flying rodent then goes on to basically DESTROY the rest of her team in a feat of fury. Egads! How did A.A. do this with only a weaksauce pair of Pokemon???
In shock at the loss, Hannah goes RIGHT BACK TO HIM with basically the same results. Okay, Voices…. What now? Well given their determination to get to the PC, that is exactly the first place they go. We immediately deposit Bitty the Ninjask and head for the desert to find us a Gound-Type. However, Hannah gets distracted by realizing that not too far from the desert is a whole new area she hasn’t discovered yet and heads over the ledge into Route P and eventually wanders her way into the ~mysterious~ Hippowdon Temple. 8O
There doesn’t actually seem to be anything to this place, but it does eventually dump her back into the desert of Route J where she finally catches her a Trapinch! Emerald Veterans are internally screaming and cracking up. Turns out the cave entrance was just a taste of what’s to come as she sees at the other end of this desert alcove is the REAL Hippowdon Temple! An ancient and massive looking structure of stonework sitting hidden away by the edges of the mountains and sandstorms that surround it. She goes inside to find the place eerily well lit for a potentially long since abandoned building and walks up to the altar which is lit by nearby torches and guarded by equally ancient statues that look down on her. Strangely, the offering in place seems to be… an escape rope? What’s so special about that? As soon as she picks it up though THE FLOOR DROPS OUT FROM UNDER HER AND CASTS HER INTO THE ABYSS! At least she managed to get the Escape Rope into her bag so it wasn’t a total waste XD
Waking up in the darkness, Hannah pulls out her lanturn to cast a small bubble of light. It sure would be nice to have Comma right now though… She checks her PokeNav to see that while there’s no signal to call anyone, the map app is still working. Despite the place having teleporters it seems she is most definitely still on Route J. Okay… time to go exploring then… She finds her way to a teleporter that warps her into another treasure room, and leery as she is after the last one, she goes up to investigate as it’s the only possible means to proceed. Sure enough! As soon as she picks up the Red Shard… Nothing happens! Cool! We spend quite a lot of time poking around on the PokeDex and Hannah zooms in on her map to find out that this temple isn’t even listed (spoopy D8 ) before heading back to the teleporter which… spits her out at the entrance. Okaaay???
Well since she got kicked out by the temple itself, Hannah decides she’s had enough adventure for one day and heads back to Route P for some serious Badger Hunting! 8D
After finally blacking out and going back to town, we head straight for the PC and while I could explain, I couldn’t do better than this XDD
Hannah is so disgusted with US, she runs and runs and runs and doesn’t stop running until she gets stopped by Gabby & Ty, NEWS NEWS NEWS folk extraordinaires! Ty brings up that Hanna looks like a really tough trainer and wonders if she’d be willing to show off for them with the camera rolling. …. Now really isn’t a good time, but y’know what? Sure. Beating up someone sure would make her feel better right about now! Despite having only Miss Tea and Aga (and an unconscious Penguin), the small team does pretty well in… Losing. Ah well, back at the Pokemon Center, we head up to the PC, casually grab Shedinja out of “timeout”, and head for the desert to restock our lack of Ground-types.
Okay, not that it’s important, but it’s pretty funny. There’s this hill in the Route J desert that requires the Mach Bike to get up to get on top of the cliffs that surround it. Last time we came across this thing, Hannah actually had a blackout trying to climb that hill and she’d tried to scale it every time she passed it to no avail before the Voices gave up and moved on or she passed out. We FINALLY got up there this time just to find an Ultra Ball as the only noticeable thing of interest. Worth it. XD
Now back to the desert, we continue with The Grind in preparation for the gym but we also catch a Gible! Tiny dragon named AAAAAAAAAT! Also we catch a Gligar named AAAAABBNNB. I think I shall call them… Ninat (9 As and a T?) and Abner less someone has an actual nickname that was used OR they do something to earn a name otherwise. ^ w ^
We head into the fields of Route L where we try to talk to the Azurill Gang, but alas. This isn’t Blazed Glazed, so Hannah has no idea what their beef is. At least she can still continue training her newest members in the nearby grass where we have Aga the Ralts become Aga the Kirlia! 8D
Unable to coordinate enough to heal, Hannah just goes to Wattson for a new black eye and heads out to The Grind once more.
Despite getting dark out, Hannah decides in all her desert wanderings to head BACK to the Hippowdon Temple to see how she and her new teammates will fare before getting kicked out again. Heading back to the Red Shard chamber, we find one of the memorialized Hippowdon to catch for ourselves before coming across a very angry mummy who decided she’d rather destroy herself by cursing Ninat than join our ranks. Smart move, Cofagrigus. Smart move. XD Seems there’s really nothing more to see here, so we head on back to town to heal and take our Grind to the mountains of Route P.
At long last WE CAN AFFORD THE SAFARI ZONE! There’s a lot to see around here, but most importantly, we find a fat man in a Rest House who tells Hannah that once she gets the Turzoro City Badge, he’ll give her a reward. Oooh reward! All the more motivation to kick Wattson’s butt now!
But not before he gives us a THROUGH butt kicking himself as Hannah decides she’s sick of training and plows her way bullheaded against him AT LEAST 8 times in a row. She takes a breather outside the Pokemon Center when she gets a call from Lao, the Ninja Boy from Dark Cave! In actuality he called to vent to her about getting bested by a Wingull, though I’m sure she was glad to do some venting of her own. After a few more attempts at Wattson (gaining the team quite a few levels actually) I wonder if she was actually trying to learn from him or still failing to destroy him. Either way, she did come close a few times and headed for the fields to the north of town for the big finish!
Miss Tea evolved into Linoone and learned Mud Sport! Ninat evolved into Gabite! 8O
I have lost track, but I believe we are up to ROUND 18 against Wattson, but this time we’re back to playing for keeps and not points. Putting Ninat in front, the match is on as our dragon OBLITERATES EVERYTHING WITH DRAGON RAGE! Oh, except Lanturn cause we ran out. XD But even then, it was the slow death of Ninat using Sand Tomb and Sand Attack while Wattson could do nothing but keep throwing potions at Lanturn to stall us out. And failing. The old man isn’t mad though and is actually pleasantly surprised as he bursts into laughter at just… SO MUCH HOW??? How did it take us this long to do that? How did he mess up so badly to get SWEPT after how good he’d been doing? At the very least, seeing Hannah’s tenacity and determination in finally besting him at his own game. We won the Dynamo Badge! \ O / We can now use Strength outside of battle! And we got TM34 Shock Wave! And Wattson’s number!~ Vohiyo …. Wait D8
Wattson says he swells with optimism to see a young trainer like Hannah as there’s hope for the future in these kids. Good luck, little one, it’s time to head north! Erm, after we go claim our prize from the Safari Zone that is. PAY UP, FAT MAN! WHAT IS IT~? It’s HM04 STRENGTH! \o/ We can now get through SEVERAL of the passages we’ve seen before including Dark Cave and Mt. Fullmoon! But since we’re here, let’s get to Badger Hunting!
Back in town we run into a woman who claims to be a master of making PokeBlocks and asks if Hannah would like to learn. Hannah just waved her off that she don’t really need any lessons. The woman warns her she shouldn’t try to do everything on her own though before sending us on our way.
We head out for Route K and slip into the caves that bear no name. It is right here at the entrance that perhaps Hannah was struck by a strange curiosity or maybe it just happened. Either way, she was told how the Dynamo Badge made her Pokemon faster, but what about her? After slipping through the cave entrance, she FOR SOME REASON ended up scaling the walls and walking the ceiling D8
Getting back to scaling the mountain path normally, Hannah makes her way through the pouring rain to come across the quaint little town of Habutest! Habutest Town may be small, but it’s got a lovely little outdoor Marketplace she had to look but not touch due to being flat broke. On the upside, one of the merchants tells her about how many of the folks around here love ~Secret Power~ and if she can prove she’s found out what that means, he’ll make a deal with her. … Intriguing. Definitely keep that in mind.
Healing up at the Pokemon Center, Hannah continues to explore when she comes across an old sailor who calls himself Mr. April. Mr. April is having a very big problem since it seems a great heap of debris has ended up in front of his house. He’s too old to be dealing with this, but perhaps if Hannah could use Strength AND Rock Smash she could clear it out? Certainly! It’s show time for Abner and Miss Tea as we display their destructive power and get to work! Mr. April is so stoked about her helping him, he wants to reward her! … But how? He doesn’t really have much to offer, but he does have a Lapras that could take her out to a snow covered island. Wouldn’t that be a wonder for her to see? 8D <3 Actually, while she should be careful of the strange old man who doesn’t speak good English, she’s far too curious about this mystical place, so she agrees!
Off we go, to the beach! To the Lapras! Speeding along Route M! Route N! And FINALLY we land on the icy shores of Searound City! He tells her to “find her pleasure at here” and decides to wait with his Pokemon while she goes exploring. See? No worries!
The main hub of Searound City seems to be nice though, paved streets filled with snowmen among the snowfall. She finds one building that seems to have some, uh…. Oh look it’s more people who look like that odd thug she fought for Wally’s PokeDex. She hasn’t checkpointed in town yet, and since her only means to get here was Mr. April, it’d be best not to risk a battle and get stranded. Hannah just as quietly heads back to the streets where she runs into a woman who invites her into her home for warmth and tells her a bit of a secret. That building Hannah just came out of? That’s the entrance to the Underground, a tunnel that connects to the island to Charpos City! Say… didn’t Wally say that’s where he’s originally from? What does Team Aqua have against this kid??? Suspicions and protectiveness rising, Hannah feels something rising up in her again. Envy thanks the woman for the information and heads back out into the snow…
Envy stealthily sneaks into a few other places to see about getting information on the situation as to why the Underground is being closed off by these goons and eventually finds the Pokemon Center. Great! But before going back for those Aqua Grunts just yet, we head to the Gym to perhaps warn the Gym Leader of what’s going on. (Or maybe he just wants to kick Leader’s butt for not doing anything. Or for teh lulls. There’s no telling with this host. XD ) No surprise, the gym happens to be Ice themed, complete with the slick floor, large icy pillars, and a general frosty haze that hangs over the place. What IS surprising though, is the place seems to be surprisingly…. Empty.
Envy makes it through the sliding puzzle though to find a back door to the place that leads into yet another puzzle. Cool gimmick but shouldn’t there be someone guarding the place? Trainers? The Gym Guide? Someone? HELLOO...o…? We make our way deeper into the freezer when we start to find a series of ladders in this increasingly surreal building when suddenly A TRAINER! Envy really has no issue with the girl, but it seems we’ve found the REAL challenge to this place! Just about the time the Gym Leader is in sight ah….oops?
Hannah manages to shake it off though and storms up to Pryce (gee, who saw that coming? kappa ) who says that he doesn’t want to hear WHY she is here. Let their swords Pokemon do the talking! …. Blackout.
Well we learned a few things. 1) You’re a bit of a jerk in this game, aren’t ya, buddy? XD 2) NO FAIR, OLD MAN, WE WEREN’T READY! >O 3) Curious if he knew or had anything to do with the blip we suffered just before meeting him. Let’s try this again!
Making our way back to Pryce, Penguin the Prinplup seems to share in Hannah’s fury as he tears down the first two Pokemon with Metal Claw before being whittled down through team effort. In comes the Shedinja who, despite not getting to show very well in the last gym, goes on to (slowly) wreck the remaining team members with Fury Swipes and Wonder Guarding everything! We won the Icy Badge which lets us use Cut outside of battle! Eat it, old man! >O Pryce admits his luck seems to have run out when faced with such a trainer like Hannah and gives her TM49 Iceberg! With that display of ferocity he says surely she’ll become the Chapion. … Whatever that is.
Does it mean “Ninja Master of Butt Whoop”? Because that is exactly what Hannah is going to continue to do. With Pryce being NO HELP AT ALL, she follows her senses (or Us really) straight to the Oceanic Museum where Team Aqua is everywhere and in need of some pants kicking. Hannah carefully manages to avoid fighting anyone though as she makes her way to the upper level where she finds a woman looking only slightly different from the other Team Aqua members. Shelly musing to herself how after stealing these blueprints to the Submarine Explorer, Team Aqua will be able to reach Kyogre! Hannah may not know what that means, but NINJA SNEAK ATTACK!
Shelly is shocked to have someone come in on her like this and receives help as a pair of Aqua Grunts bursts in on the scene to attack Hannah instead! Miss Tea quickly comes to Hannah’s defense against the first man, but the team struggles to get passed the next! Just when she could get some air, Shelly herself decides to attack and has her Sharpedo rip into Aga leaving only Ninat left! RELEASE. DRAGON. FURY! (Not gonna lie, that actually had me worried) Shelly is again in shock to find herself defeated and Hannah practically dancing with Ninat for his saving them. But celebrations are all too soon as even MORE Team Aqua members show up, this time with a man in all black and a gold chain. Clearly the leader of these vagrants, which he fully admits in introducing himself as Archie, head of Team Aqua. He doesn’t feel like fighting a mere child and explains to her that Team Aqua are sea loving people. She’s clearly not with Team Magma, so why does she want to go picking fights with them? All life needs water, all water returns to the sea. And by working to expand the seas, surely Hannah must see they are part of a noble endeavor! …….. ….. ….. …. … Bah, maybe she’s too young to understand. All the more reason not to fight her. Seriously, fellow Aqua, she’s a CHILD. However, he does warn her that this is no game they’re playing. If she should come after them again, there will be actual consequences. Shelly can argue with him all she wants on the way home about how this girl is a serious threat, and no child to be taken lightly, but for now they all just disappear. Leaving Hannah all the more confused, angry, scared, and determined that whatever it is they’re planning, it can’t be good.
We go to heal up and restock our Poke Balls (and buy the whole team cake or something, that was way too close for comfort) before heading to the Underground to continue onward. After doing a bit of jump exercises on the couches, Hannah gets jumped but Ninja Boy Jaiden who, I assume mistook her for an Aqua due to her all blue outfit and bandana. XD The other trainers of the Underground at least seem friendly in the usual sense of attacking as is custom of two trainers meeting. The Underground is a bit of a maze, but we manage to get through all the trainers in sight, including the ones guarding HM01 Air Cutter and at last enter Charpos Island! 8O … That we can’t actually enter due to the entrance / exit to the Underground being so overgrown, it needs Cut to escape. Dang, Aqua, how long were you barricading the place???
Surely we missed something though, and Hanna heads on back into the Underground to fight more trainers, find more dropped items, and talk to an old man who can’t get enough of the gorgeous weather outside. Hannah could just about slap herself to realize that Air Cutter is the same as Cut in this region. For all her exploring, seems Flora still has a lot to learn about…
Charpos City is a gorgeous, yet tropical island that seems such a far cry from Snowround it’s hard to believe they’re so close together. We head on into the first large gaudy building in sight and discover the Pokemon Fan Club where the Chairman explains to Hannah about the wonders of the Contest scene! Eh, maybe someday, but for now she’s just gonna stock up on Poke Balls and heal. As we get to exploring the rest of the town, Hannah also stumbles across Wally’s house and gets to meet his parents. Wally isn’t home at the moment, but it’s still nice to always meet some of his friends considering, due to his sickly nature, he doesn’t have many. But, his dad says, the boy sure has been doing a lot better since they moved to this beautiful place. We also find the Bike Shop 2 where the questionably mobster the shop owner points out that if Hannah already has the Mach Bike, then he’ll just take that off her hands and give her an Acro Bike. Sound good? Uh… Sure!
We end the day off by aimlessly wandering the place and just taking in the sights. The cliffs looking out to sea, running in the waves, raiding the fridge of EVERY house we enter, and of course playing with the settings on the outdoor PC with the clock and lottery segments. Is all good and calm and relaxing after the LOOOONG day our Host has had. <3
Previously on Flora Sky: EVERYTHING. EVERYTHING HAPPENED. tppLUL
More specifically, Hannah N. Vee had only just moved to the Flora region with her mother, decided she hated it, and went looking for trouble and adventure. She met Prof. Birch, who gave her a Starter and a PokeDex and introduced her to his son A.A. while also naming her one of his assistants so she can get access to places. Hannah also met with some of his other assistants, Sky and Wally, as well as a strange witch named Flash. After earning her first gym badge, Hannah got sucked into a portal to another world after getting too close to Dialga and Giratina and came back Not Quite Right. She’s been discovering she has the power to (though she can’t control it) alter herself in different ways, though right now it’s mostly been manifesting into a boy called Envy. Envy went on to challenge the “sinister criminals” of Team Magma, who are looking for Groudon, and got his second badge. It’s time to see where we go from here…
We start the new day still on Route F as we explore the new territories opened to us by our new badge. There’s a cute little house in the middle of the route where a bored old man seems to be enjoying the day from his porch when he calls Hannah over. Would she be interested in a round of battles with him and the whole family? … Odd request, but she can always use the practice. Not to mention after all these affairs with gods and criminals, it’d be nice to get back to the NORMAL Trainer life with some fun non-consequential battles. The grandma still manages to kick our butt and sends us back to Platepics City. \ o /
This time when we leave town, we head out to Route H where there’s a new area to explore filled with rocky terrain and a new cave! Dark Cave is exactly what it says on the tin, but fortunately while we were in town, we managed to teach Comma the Mareep how to use Flash! Though that doesn’t stop Hannah from testing her own limits to see how far she can get without it. XD We find Ninja Boy Lao in the cave here who rips off his camouflage to challenge her! Which she handles pretty well with Aga’s help. Needless to say, Hannah had no idea there were ninjas in Flora (then again, she is still new here) but the boy intrigues her. Register Lao in her Call List on the DexNav! tppLUL He says he needs to work on his technique of concealment and will call her if he learns anything new. Will do, tiny ninja, gives us a lot of food for thought.
We manage to find our way out of the cave only to find that Route H is much larger than originally thought. On the upside, the next town must be close as we speed our way down Flora’s Cycling Road! Wheee \ o / (and blackout to a cyclist.) Going back into Dark Cave now that the team is fully healed, we get in a bit more grinding to have our Patrat evolve into Watchog! 8O We also find that the cave requires Strength to go any deeper, so time to be on our way.
Chat decides it wants to do a bit of Badger Questing in the area and we spend quite a long time wandering Route H and fighting all of the trainers. After wandering for a few hours we eventually wind our way onto Route I, a very strange route with a fence maze similar to the ones found outside Fuschia City in Kanto and Veilstone City in Sinnoh. We find a Triathlete who we beat up pretty easily and prove that our Penguin’s got swag by learning Swagger XDD
Having made our way through the maze, we find a ledge that we jump which puts us all the way back before Cycling Road. EleGiggle Ah well, it’s probably for the best since there’s Pokemon Center right on the other side and all we have left is …..T who’s still awake. We heal up and head on back to Route H to begin again.
At this point, I’ve learned that our Zigzagoon has been nicknamed more commonly to Miss Tea (I won’t use Miss T since I believe that was also the name of our Pidgeot in Moemon) which I’ll be using from here on out. <3
Making our way through the maze a second time, this time we find an exit which leads us to the entrance of a cave. Mt. Fiery sure does live up to it’s name though. Somewhat. It’s so hot within the mountain that little jets of steam line the path and magma creatures crawl. Coming around a turn in the path though reveals something familiar. It’s a Magma! What are they doing there? Well Hannah has indeed grown quite a lot since she last saw these guys and the grunt seemed completely alone. POUNCE!
The Grunt is reasonably confused why anyone would be exploring a place like this, but he’s gotta battle her anyway to keep her from sticking her nose into his business. Even as she beat him up though, he cries uncle and admits she’s really strong- just leave him alone! He even mockingly adds that she can go ~wherever~ she wants, but doesn’t actually move to allow her access to the door he was guarding. Jerk. Still nothing she can do about it, even if she’s disarmed him, she’s just a kid and not really able to shove a full grown man out of the way if she wanted to. Guess she’ll just have to continue north.
We reach the end of the tunnel and enter… Teas City?? Miss Tea must have been a pageant girl XD As we head to the Pokemon Center we realize that Teas City is a MASSIVE port town full of colorful flag banners and ships in the harbor and even the largest department store in the region! Know what that means? Shopping spree~! At the Lilycove Dept. Store! Guess they’ve gone global, huh? o3o
Hannah spends quite a lot of time just taking in the views, hanging out on the rooftop square of the department store until it starts to get dark and chatting with a woman about how fascinating it is to see the world from so high. Hannah just can’t get enough of the new perspective. The woman asks her if she’d like to learn a secret (ninja?) technique which could allow her Pokemon to make a copy of itself. Sounds… cool? Well then after several tries, Comma learns Substitute! Thanking her, Hannah then goes in search of new high places to take in the view and heads to the cliffs by the harbor to walk by the lighthouse as sunset coats the port in a pink haze. There won’t be much to see after dark, she’s sure, but if she’s gotta go inside somewhere, it might as well be the gym!
As luck would have it though, just as she was about to step through the fences to the entrance, she hears a familiar voice ring out behind her. It’s A.A. Birch once again! He’s quite surprised to see her all the way out here, asking if she was looking for Pokemon in a place like this. Oh? The gym? Well in that case, she might as well test her merits against him before thinking she’s all hot stuff just yet! It’s a battle, SO BATTLE! Fortunately for Hannah, he’s only really got two Pokemon with him, and for all his talk of being a ~real trainer~ he claims he can do a lot with those two. His Natu is actually the same level as our Penguin, but even with Comma the Mareep at only half as strong, the type advantage is more than enough to wreck him. Grotle might be a different story though, and Hannah switches over to our Watchog to basically obliterate him with Crunch. Maybe she IS hot stuff, huh, A.A.?! >O
A.A. says her team is looking pretty decent at least, which Comma seems to take offense to by evolving right there in front of him! XD Needless to say, A.A. is now actually very impressed. He decides to ease up in his ragging on Hannah and says how he’s sure if she’s that good, she can go anywhere. In fact, maybe they should swap phone numbers so they can stay in touch. That would be good for Hannah if only because Prof. Birch asked her to keep an eye on A.A. and she really don’t feel like being his babysitter. Sure! A.A. also gives her some further advice by explaining that he actually already TRIED to challenge the gym here in Teas City, but there was some kind of invisible blockade of sorts. She probably won’t be able to get in either. If she’s really itching for a challenge though, he did just finish up at the gym in Turzoro City! …. But if she decides to go there, she should also know there’s a desert she needs to pass through with some serious wind problems. Actually, just to be nice, he’s got some Go-Goggles she can use to get through the sandstorms. Anyway, he’s sure taken a lot of her time, so see her around~!
… Well that was weird. Helpful, but still weird coming from him. Guess beating up people makes friends! <3 Hannah has her suspicions about his “advice”, but sure enough, as she turns back to the gym, she finds there actually is something unseeable in the way. Much as she tries to shove passed it. Hmm…. Well she’s still enjoying Teas City before running off just yet so TO THE BEACH!
Nothing of great importance, but we get into a fight with a sailor and it changes the town music to our rival’s theme. A few battles later and we’re back to Ding Dong music. Oh, Flora XDDD
Having checked out the beach, it’s time to head for the docks as Hannah learns that the ferry service is currently not available. Of course. Seems there really is no choice but to leave so she decides she’s gonna be totally a-w-e-s-o-m-eand ride her bike through the shipyard where several men are working on the boats as she dashes back into the tunnels of Mt. Fiery. Back to the fence maze of Route I even as it’s time to go searching for this desert A.A. told her about.
We find the desert is rougher than expected, blackout back to Teas City, and buy out the Poke Ball section of the Dept. Store. We finally get through the desert with only Penguin still conscious, but we make it to Route K nonetheless! … And blackout to a Youngster XD As should surprise no one at this point, Chat decides to take their earnings while they can and go Badger Hunting.
After catching all we can in the area (for now) Hannah heads back on the road to see what lays further down Route K where she eventually finds Wally talking to a man in blue and white stripes. As it is a bit dark out, she can’t help but wonder what this wimpy kid is doing out with a stranger like this and sneaks up behind them where she watches Wally get mugged! Stepping in to help him, the Aqua Grunt teases her about wanting the PokeDex he just stole and says if she wanted to help her friend, she better fight him. That would be a problem since she only has one Pokemon left…. If the only teammate she had still standing wasn’t Bowza the Staravia! She totally one-shots his Carvanha causing the Grunt to have second thoughts about who he’s messing with and runs off. Great. Well, Wally says he can’t go after the guy since his Kirlia is passed out, but pleads with Hannah to get back his PokeDex for him. Don’t worry, he’s got faith in her!
Luckily it seems this attack was being held right at the edge of town and Hannah steps on in to Turzoro City where she and Wally both go to heal up their Pokemon. Unfortunately, being in a city might make it harder to look for this Aqua Grunt since there’s any number of places he could have slipped into. Wally’s Kirlia also seems to have suffered a more serious injury than usual since we find him waiting outside for Hannah and explains that his Pokemon had to be admitted to the Center for care. Since they’re just hanging outside at the moment, Hannah discovers that the odd PC sitting right next to them actually isn’t a typical PC. It has several functions which includes a Teleport Service that isn’t available yet and a Lottery she can get tickets for. Lotto? Sweet! She’s so gonna win- NOTHING. Well that was fun but she should really get looking for that thief, huh?
The first house Hannah enters to search has The Contest Lady! While she doesn’t know about any thief, she takes the sudden audience as a chance to tell of her days attending the Contest Hall in Pulhia City and how fascinating it all was. Of course, Hannah can’t even enter a Contest without a PokeBlock case, but since this nice lady has retired from the stage, she’s no need for hers. Whoohoo! Candy for everyone! Hannah’s not sure what that was all about, but she heads on out of the house without another word to the strange woman to continue her search.
After exploring town for a bit, Hannah seems to decide it’s getting too late and heads out the north side of town to Route L to set up camp. Lo and behold, THERE’S OUR GRUNT! She finds him being harassed by a small gang of Azurill who won’t let him go any further down the route, but seems being an Aqua he doesn’t have the heart to just punt them out of the way. He does, however, have NO ISSUE in fighting Hannah. Seeing she’s caught up to him, he exclaims that she’s STILL not getting back this precious PokeDex without a fight. This time she just has Penguin literally Pound the heck out of his Carvanha leaving little choice to the man but to hand it over. Good? Good. He asks her to step aside so he can leave back the way they came, which she seems to comply by scooting over just enough for him to make a run for it. (Personally, I’d say he just shoved her seeing how fast he booked it out of the place. XD )
Alls well that ends well, I guess, and Hannah takes her bike back into town to return the PokeDex to Wally. Wally is overjoyed to have his PokeDex back and rewards Hannah with an ITEMFINDER! 8O He also figures that Hannah must have gotten really strong since they last saw each other for how well she stood up to that big bully. And his Kirlia, -ahem- his Ralts that she helped him catch just evolved earlier in the week, is now out of hospice! Seems it’d be a great chance for the two of them to have a battle now before they split up again! While Hannah gets to show off that she’s got a Ralts of her own now, she quickly switches in for Bowza to make quick work of his Calm Mind buffing Kirlia before he can do some serious damage. Wally admits he’s a bit disappointed to see just how weak he still is, but seeing Hannah in action is all the more motivation to get stronger! They decide to trade phone numbers so they don’t have meet by chance whenever he’s ready to try again~! In the meantime, he wishes her luck with the Turzoro Gym and says he’s heading on for Charpos City next. Maybe they’ll see each other there? <3
Speaking of, Hannah immediately decides to head on into the gym next door to the Pokemon Center and discovers an Electric Gym lead by none other than the potentially immortal Wattson! Which as pumped as she is to get in there and tear up the place, given TPP’s history with him….Hoo boy…. OTL
I have NO idea what happened here, but just… I think it’s safe to say we blacked out
We go back to exploring town for a bit and discover the Safari Zone! That we can’t enter because we’re broke XD
Between the gym and the prospect of stronger Pokemon to be found nearby leads to a PC war where we deposit Comma and Watchog into Box 5. Realizing we STILL need money for the Safari Zone though, we get into a lot of backtracking in search of trainers and new teammates. The Voices eventually tell Hannah that if they’ve got two empty slots, she has GOT to go back to Bee-Bug Forest to grab a Nincada. You know what They’re planning. WAHAHA
WE SUCCEED! Our new Nincada is a girl named “AAABTTTt ,” or… I suppose “A Bitty Comma” XD We then spend the ENTIRE REST OF THE DAY in training our new Bitty friend and just before the end of the day we head back to the gym for a double battle with some of the trainers giving the final push for Bitty to evolve into Ninjask! 8O Hannah is all kinds of excited for her new BIG bug friend when she notices something… strange. The last slot in her party has also been filled as she finds a sixth PokeBall on her belt she most DEFINITELY didn’t have before. D8 Looking into her PokeDex, Hannah finds that something called a Shedinja has mysteriously decided to join them? Or well, the Dex actually explains it came from Ninjask. …. Somehow. Welp! Either way, she’s got a full, beat-up, party so back to the Pokemon Center!
The Voices suddenly seem very interested in the PC so Hannah spends a while reading several magazines and Pokemon information books since she won’t be able to heal any time soon and eventually decides she’s sick of all this and heads outside.
We end the day off with Hannah practicing her Parkour by jumping from bench to bench near the fountain at the edge of town. But we sure did get a lot done today, didn’t we? And even went the whole day without anything majorly weird to happen! ….. We’ll see how long that lasts. XD
