Cat people my beloved

The dehumanisation is real. It's probably something they all deal with in day to day life - people trying to touch their ears or tail, petting them, generally treating them like cats. From a place of ignorance to some, downright maliciousness to others. (And the illegal pet trade in Aenora is thriving. The children are told to never go off on their own.)

Nels likes cats. Alistair likes cats. Jowan likes cats.

Clyde hates cats.

Eldwin sleeps in a cage. He tried to point out that it's called a dog cage. He ends up in a lot of pain from staying cramped in a cage far too small for far too long. Also sleeping outside!! Not by his choice, of course.

Hasn't been mentioned yet, but in canon Clyde has hunting dogs. These already don't like Eldwin - they're well trained, and will sit and behave with just a look from Clyde; but he actively lets them snap and growl at Eldwin. As a cat person, this is even worse; he has to climb on top of cabinets to escape them. Unfortunately, his gloves prevent him from using his claws so he has been caught a few times. The times he has scratched the furniture, even though it's because he's afraid for his life... it's time out in the cage, And the angry dogs are snapping and snarling at him through it, biting the bars, making the cage rattle.

Everything he does is laughed at and mocked even more than in canon. Guests love to rile him up, make him hiss, pull on his tail, dangle cat toys in front of him to make him growl and okay, they can be fun but he knows damn well they're just doing it to mock him. Spraying him with water all the time! Every time he comes close, cold spritz to the face.

Making him do more cat-like behaviours even ones he wouldn't actually do, like "making biscuits" and lying in a "loaf pose" - very awkward and uncomfortable for a humanoid. Highly degrading.

Feeding him live rats and mice that he has to kill with his bare hands and eat raw. Sometimes he can cook them over a fire. But if he's putting on a show, no. Raw. Also cat food. Actual cat food.

They also give him cardboard boxes and make him sit in them; he hasn't told anyone but that is actually really nice, pls keep giving him boxes thanks

Unfortunately for him, he somehow gets even more attention as animal features are a novelty. Any excuse to touch him, he's such a pretty kitty, and if he bites he gets tied up on display so he has to just take it.

I've joked before about him kneeling at someone's side with his head in their lap like the iconic Godfather scene with the cat, but now he is a cat, and his hair is so fluffy and his purrs are so cute even when he's angry, 🥰

Of course, Jowan must study him. Animals tend not to like him, and Eldwin is no exception. Still, it's exciting, and this ones not allowed to bite! He would be very more unnecessarily-touchy than he is in canon, because as I said, he likes cats, but they don't like him. The fur feels so nice...

He'd never hated his cat features before, but after some time in the syndicate he wishes he could cut them off and be a normal person. His life would be so much better without them...

Okay so firstly let's get a grasp on what bbu even refers to: BBU stands for "Box Boy Universe" and it is a moreso dystopian setting where slavery is legal and institutionalized worldwide.

The way slavery works in this setting is by capturing people and/or luring them into volunteering themselves and them wiping out their memory, when they are labelled with the status of a "trainee". Trainees are sent to different facilities and have to endure some training and brainwashing before reaching the status of "pet", when they can be sold to different owners

Pets sometimes are also called boxies or box boys because they are um. Shipped in boxes. WRU is one of the largest pet training and shipping companies in the world—or the only one, depending on the story you are reading—and their name stands for "whumpees r us" and it kind of started as a joke apparently in the community. Pets are also trained in different "categories". Some are trained to do house chores (domestics), protect their owners (guard dogs), provide sexual service (romantics) or other things that might also vary on the story you are reading.

In the BBU world most people condone this boxie system, but there is also the Pet Lib Movement. Which is, well, a social movement that wants to end slavery and free the so-called pets. There are also often safehouses involved in this movement, that work as shelters for runaway Pets.

All in all, the bbu universe is kind of a community thing where this initial premise exists, and if you want to, you can write or draw or mold it to your will. It's like having a preset worldbuilding you can pick, like a public domain setting. BBU is also a pretty niche brand of pet whump in general. Lots of people (like me lol) like the recovery potential of it, or the ruthless conditioning pets have to go through, etc. It's not everyone's jam tho

why do you call vivruh "lord cazeriac" even in private? I get being respectful while he's there, but why the "lord" part when he's not there to hear it?

I'm pretty sure his raping of eldwin comes from a place of wanting degrade eldwin and make him suffer + feeling entitled to someone who's "lesser than him" + being horny atm + etc, but I genuinely can't tell if pierce is even attracted to eldwin.

like. is it rooted in wanting to hurt eldwin, where pierce's attraction to eldwin himself is either non-existent or just an extra, or is it rooted in wanting to fuck someone who "needs to be taught his place" because he's into that???

These questions are fine don't worry! Honestly I'm happy people are engaging with me lol, it's fun to think about.

Pierce is both! He definitely wants to degrade and have power over him, treats it like a punishment, something he deserves for being a warlock... something Pierce has the right to do. But he does also have the hots for him. Which he denies, but it's true. Though yeah this attraction is an extra rather than his main reason.

While he does think Eldwin's pretty, I think that is definitely amplified by who Eldwin is rather than what he looks like. If Eldwin wasn't a warlock, was a free person in his own right, Pierce might have tried his luck, made a move, but... well I was gonna say he wouldn't have raped him, but honestly if Pierce still thinks Eldwin was lesser, and got offended by Eldwin's rejection (and not that it makes any difference, creepy men won't accept a kind rejection either, but Eldwin would probably be rude about it which would really justify it in Pierce's mind) then he still might. The idea of forcefully putting him in his place is appealing! Because of this he actually likes Eldwin being defiant, because it's so much more satisfying to see him unravel, the difference between him at the start vs the end.

Anyway, catboy. Hmm, would Pierce be into that...? Pierce likes them more feminine-looking, pretty and cute, and cats are associated with femininity and add that cuteness level. When I think about it like that yeah, he probably would be into that.

And like Vivruh, Pierce plays into the animal aspect, what purpose does all that [the cat features] have if not to attract men? What else are you good for? On that note I think Pierce is very misogynistic (shocker for the rapist, I know) and would be like "why are you dressed like that if you don't want attention?" and thinks women are lesser. Or anyone afab, Eldwin being trans would not negate that, even putting aside the whole warlock thing.

he already somewhat treats eldwin like a pet in canon, but since vivruh likes to treat eldwin well (aka not like a horrible person), would this follow in the au, where vivruh DOESN'T treat him as bad as everyone else? as in. doesn't make him sleep in a cage and eat actual cat food lmao

also was briefly worrying over vivruh seeing eldwin as an animal being like. perceived beastiality (eldwin is not an animal, but vivruh would see him as one) being a completely different (and arguably worse) can of worms than the power dynamic they already have going on, but that's just. not the situation? I think, I'm just guessing how their dynamic changes with catboy eldwin. vivruh acknowledges eldwin is a sentient human being in canon + arguably treats him better than others, so yeah I think this would hypothetically follow in the catboy au

Vivruh will definitely play into the animal thing, but is aware that he is effectively a human with cat features, so I think that's fine.

Eldwin would be a very pampered kitty! He'd get to sleep in a proper bed, of course. Who doesn't like waking up to kitty cuddles? He'd be kept well-groomed, his hair brushed - frequently, keep it nice for petting. Looking fit for a pet show! Vivruh definitely makes him sit in his lap like a cat.

To be honest, I can't think of ways it would be much different than canon... 🤔 Would still be fun to play with though, Vivruh definitely leans into the dehumanisation and pet play aspect. Adding another humiliating layer to an already humiliating situation in canon.

Currently he does not. Piercings in general are not really his style and he's actually very nervous about stepping outside the box he's both put in and perpetuated himself, and especially has reservations about permanent-ish body modifications. (he already gets enough of that...) That said, I think Ancassius would convince him to get at least one ear piercing ("Live a little! Express yourself!"). But he's too uptight and formal to really explore such things.

Magical piercings could be such an interesting concept and looking it up I can't find anything! There's some magic jewellery and I guess it would be much the same thing, but still. I've some things to think about. Maybe aether-enhancements, either in general or boosting specific kinds of magic. Probably more convenient then jewellery, to some people.

Oooh, I'm thinking about piercings as a punishment, could be anywhere, but they're cursed to slowly poison the bloodstream of the wearer until they can fulfil a task to redeem themselves... Now I'm getting ideas. Your shock earrings are so interesting to me and I think that sort of idea can go really far.

Sorry, I went on a little worldbuilding ramble haha. Maybe he'll end up with some sort of piercing whether he wants it or not :P
