A Passion For Placid Petals || Ash & Cam
A typical Wednesday afternoon typically consisted of a typical breakfast followed by a typical walk through town, waving greetings to the typical townsfolk; a typical nap under a typical oak tree typically followed, prompted by the typical fleeting thoughts of a typical boy with a typical life.
It was always the same typical thing, but Ash never grew tired of it. He loved his typical town and it's typical folk, and his typical Wednesdays were the highlights of his working weeks. His affinity for Wednesday, however, had nothing to do with the quaintness and typicality of those around him, and everything to do with atypical opportunity of visiting the atypical flower stand, run by a treasured, atypical friend.
The late afternoon light was a harsh gold that illuminated Ash's cheery features as he trotted towards the cafe. He tugged at the brown plaid scarf wrapped loosely around his neck and shoulders, reveling in the fresh October chill as he pondered what kind of flowers Cam might have for sale. He twisted his fingers together behind his back and gingerly approached.
With pursed lips, he scanned the display, eyes sparkling with curiosity in the same way the sea might sparkle in the afternoon sun. Though he didn't know the first thing about flowers, and probably couldn't even give the common name of what was laid out on display, he still appreciated their beauty. There was one particular blossom that had caught his eye-- a collection of chrysanthemums-- at which he pointed, looked up, and presented Cam with the biggest grin he could muster.
"Afternoon, Cam." He cheerily greeted. "How's about a bundle of these to go?" His smile was sweeter than honey, but his eyes silently pleaded for a friendly discount-- even more so as he reached into his pocket, desperately attempting to calculate the value of his loose change by touch alone. He had just enough for about four flowers, he estimated, but it was always nice to have a little money leftover....
