Okay so the reason there are these portals to alternate universes-- and the reason there is a Blood Eel (or isn't, look up Atropus planets in fracking universe shits spooky) -- is because in a universe all the way back in like 2008 there's a carnivorous focused plant creature fighting the Ruin, a blood and bone and flesh planet (made of corpses (unconfirmed)) that opens portals.
