And then Georgette leaned in, voice dropping below the hubbub of the dining hall. "Come with me," she said, jerking her chin toward the arched stonework leading deeper into the cavern junction. "Sparring hall,"

Florence blinked. "What?" The word came out shriller than she intended. Georgette’s grin turned wolfish, dimpling the ugly bullet scar on her face to the point where her eyelid flicked oddly. She jabbed a clawed finger in the same direction as if to emphasize her point, "You heard me, seer. Let’s give these paranoid bats something to really stare at," she paused, grumbling, "…Since they can't even let us eat properly."

Florence’s stomach flipped. She had sparred with Vampires before -Mathias, mostly, or one of his comrades- but they had always fought with one hand behind their backs; their movements slowed deliberately to a fraction of their true speed. Florence had been drilled on how to dodge ever since she was eight -to fall to the floor as fast as possible- her reflexes honed to kick in unconsciously. But even then, it was never quite as quick as some of the half-blood assistants. The idea of facing Georgette, a Vampaneze, who was twice her size, without preamble or restraints? In front of an audience? Madness.

"Georgie, we’d cause a riot," she hissed. And you're going to break something. Mathias would be furious, and she wasn't looking to make his night even worse. But Georgette just rolled her eyes, "You worry too much," she scoffed, shoving a leg of red meat aside and upturning her keg in a single swig. She thunked it down next to the femur. "-The way I see it, the fastest way to a Vampire’s heart is proving you can fight. And if we duel, we'd both be in to earn some respect around here, yes?"

Her red eyes flicked, focusing with a sneer on someplace else in the crowd that the human couldn't pick out, "…And perhaps my entourage will stop hounding me so insistently. Get up," Florence had little more than a second before Georgette's massive hand seized her shoulder, hauling her up and towards the exit with little grace and an almost devious chuckle. "Wait-" She protested, but in the end had no choice but to find her footing and stumble after, heartbeat racing in her chest.

This would not end well.

Sam and 'Sam'; his half-dead mischievous doppelganger with a penchant for hijacking the cirque's resident two-faced woman while anomalously puppeting a discarded wolf-man mask horror-ventriloquist style. You know how it is.
