Visit the Caverns Near the Florida Georgia State Line and Walk Underground

At the most northern part of North Central Florida is the small, secluded town of Marianna, Florida. More than likely, you have never heard of this small town near the Florida Georgia Line. With a small city center, what would bring you to visiting is the hidden caverns in the Florida Caverns State Park.

The state park is tucked away wonderfully on what many would call a back-road. Even after finding the park entrance sign, it is about another half-mile back drive before you find a parking spot.

After parking and walking uphill on a paved sidewalk lined with rocks, clay, and Florida pines, you will enter a large welcome center to meet a tour guide. Before entering the caves, they give you a short run-down on what to expect when walking through the cave.

Once you are ready with your tour guide, you will walk about another 500 feet to the cave entrance that one could compare easily to a hobbit door. The door is situated between a small opening between two rocks which is about three-wide.

As you enter the cave, you are met with a beautiful light show which will light your way through the otherwise pitch-black darkness for about 30 minutes. The tour is short, but it is just long enough to marvel at what lies beneath the Florida soil.

The Florida Caverns State Park is a must-see for adventurers and travelers who prefer to relax. It is a hidden gem that offers a magnificent experience in North Central Florida.
