Something I found quite interesting, at least for me - maybe I think too much, maybe it's a cultural difference that I misunderstood, but I really want to share this no matter what：

In Margaret Coit's John Calhoun biography, she used "wren-like" to describe Floride Calhoun（I assume it's from other historical quotes cus the quotation marks）. I see some wonderful symbolism here, hear me out——

1, The Carolina wren（Thryothorus ludovicianus） is the state bird of South Carolina（although it wasn't until 1930s people started the adoption）

2, Wren is considered as king of all birds in traditional Scottish-Irish folk lore. Still remember where did Colhoun/Calhoun family's bloodline came from？They are also Scotch-Irish descendants.

3, How did the small wren become the bird king in the legend？Well, it used it's witty brain and took a ride on the eagle's head. John Calhoun is a hawk in many symbolic portraits. War hawk！

4. It is generally believed that if someone hurt a wren, bad luck and misfortune could fall on them. Still a very Floride thing in my opinion.

Therefore I might draw some little wren Floride in the future…
