hot take this is fern sevilla . hear me out

i feel like the victory road rant flies over a lot of people’s heads for some reason YES fern is an asshole who deserves to be held accountable for his actions !! but he had reasons that drove him there in the first place that 90% of the characters never noticed and he just got more and more bitter and aggressive over time

realistically in his shoes it makes a lot of sense why he was so jealous of mc, imagine being neglected by your family and sister, who favors some random guy that magically bullshits their way through every inconvenience and everyone loves . fern worked hard to get to his place as “top dog” of the social hierarchy (reborn was full of crime and shitty people so by his mentality if he got MEANER and learned to bite back they wouldn’t be able to hurt him) and yet the main character shows up and immediately becomes the talk of the town and the best at everything, even being nicknamed the golden child , and everywhere he goes mc is ALL people talk about. and no matter how hard he tries he knows he’ll never be better than him, that would piss ANYONE off but his circumstances just made it a lot worse

does this make sense. i don’t know if this is coherent or just a wall of text anyways ride or die im fern sevillas #1 defender and I approve this message

THIS SCENE FUCKS ME UP SO BAD GODDDDDDDDDDD there's so much to unpack here. his character development is so gooddd god . the way he's not entirely a bad person, he used to just be some dude who loved his sister enough to hunt down a group of bullies twice his size to steal their shoes to give to florinia as a birthday present while having the biggest shit ass grin on his face ,, but jealously and his desire for attention since his sister didn't show any emotions towards him took over and he just. started being an absolute ass

also the lines "i wonder, did i even smile at him then? / if i did, would he be here now?" AUGHHH WGGUUUU (starts writhing and convulsing in agony on the floor while weeping and sobbing) SHE DOES CARE SHE REALLY DOES>.... she wouldn't have stuck around trying to un-statuify him if she didn't AND HE DOES TOO HES JUST TOO MUCH OF A WUSS WHO WANTS TO LOOK COOL. "you have been gone for a very, very long time, and so have i" AGGGHHHHHHHH AGHH fucked up sibling issues are finally being communicated and resolved in a healthy and happy manner i could shed a tear. hope he gets run over by a train and dies arceus bless

got to the point where team meteor attacks titania and amaria’s house and . thinking abt the fern and florinia interaction so hard

like meteor KNEW the plan going in and fern agreed with pretending to be a hostage.. if he thought it wouldn’t work i’m very doubtful he would’ve gone through with it so he HAD to have some inkling of hope or belief that florinia would care about his life enough to want to save him , only for her to just Not. or maybe (and even worse) he already knew she wouldn’t care about saving him and just wanted to see how it played out . like i know they’ve never really been on good terms and rini has all the reasons to dislike him but imagine an evil organization says they’re gonna kill you unless terms are met and your own sister goes “yeah idc can you just kill him already “ GODDD

but either way wooagghh the angst (shakes you violently by the shoulders) the ANGSTTTT I don’t know what the fuck is going on with these crazy ass dysfunctional siblings but i feel like fern is gonna SNAPP eventually and im both terrified and a little intrigued . he did just kinda storm out after that and florinia went after him so i don’t know but
