The witch stumbled through the dense, foreboding woods, her breath ragged and uneven. The laughter and camaraderie of her friends had faded into chilling silence, replaced by the gut-wrenching screams and the wet sound of flesh being torn apart. Her legs burned as she sprinted, heart pounding in her chest, but she dared not look back. The village they had innocently ventured into had transformed into a nightmare, its quaint charm hiding the monstrous horrors within. They had thought it a quaint, picturesque stop on their mountain vacation. Now, it was a slaughterhouse.
She burst into a clearing, and there stood the imposing silhouette of a mansion—the castle of Lady Dimitrescu. Desperation driving her, Gabriella pushed herself towards it, hoping against hope for sanctuary. Blood smeared her clothes and skin, the viscera of her friends mingling with her own from the countless cuts and gashes she'd suffered in her escape. Every heartbeat echoed with the images of her friends' deaths, the mangled bodies and the unearthly growls of their attackers replaying endlessly in her mind.
The castle's grandeur did nothing to comfort her. Each dark corridor and echoing hall whispered of unseen dangers. The elegant furniture and opulent decor were a stark contrast to the terror she felt. She had barely caught her breath when the terrifying presence of Lady Dimitrescu's three daughters found her. Their haunting laughter and piercing cries sent shivers down her spine, driving her further into the castle's labyrinthine depths. The walls seemed to close in on her, each corner turned revealing another threat, another shadow that could spring to life at any moment.
Her frantic flight brought her to a serene, unexpected refuge—a beautiful greenhouse, its glass walls revealing a lush, vibrant world within. She paused, panting and trembling, the scent of blooming flowers almost overpowering the coppery tang of blood in her nostrils. The greenhouse was an oasis of life in a place otherwise marked by death, a burst of color and warmth amidst the cold, dark stone of the castle. And there, amidst the verdant beauty, stood a vision. A woman with long, flowing pink hair and bright eyes, her soft lips a gentle curve. She was ethereal, almost divine, and for a moment, Gabriella thought she had stumbled upon a goddess. The woman's voice, calm and soothing, cut through the chaos of her mind.
"You're a long way from home," she said.
Gabriella, still gasping for air, managed to find her voice. "I… I didn't mean to come here. My friends… they're dead. I couldn't save them. Please, help me. I don't know what to do. I can't keep running… not from them, not like this." Her voice broke, the weight of her terror and grief finally crashing down on her. She could feel the adrenaline wearing off, her body shaking uncontrollably as the reality of her situation settled in. The serene beauty of the greenhouse was a cruel contrast to the blood and horror she had just escaped. She felt a wave of dizziness wash over her, her vision blurring as she tried to keep her focus on the woman before her. The scent of flowers, so sweet and overwhelming, mingled with the metallic tang of blood, creating a nauseating blend that made her stomach churn.
Her legs buckled beneath her, the strength draining from her body. She reached out, trying to steady herself, but the world around her was spinning, the vibrant colors of the greenhouse blending into a disorienting swirl. Her eyelids grew heavy, the last of her energy slipping away. She felt herself falling, her body giving in to the exhaustion and shock that had been building since the nightmare began. As her consciousness faded, the last thing she saw was the concerned face of the woman with the pink hair, her bright eyes filled with an emotion Gabriella couldn't quite place. Then, darkness claimed her, and she knew no more.
