REGULAR FLOSSERS vs ORTHODONTIC FLOSSERS
Flossing normally is already tedious, going from one tooth to the next but it is about to get to a whole new level once braces are in. It'll feel like you've been upgraded to the advance status! Before braces, I usually prefer flossers over the string kind just because i felt they were quicker. If you're like me and you have those flossers, go ahead and give them away because regular flossers are simply too thick (the plastic portion) to fit underneath the wire now. Notice the purple arrow points to a slimmer plastic portion. This is the side that slips in between the teeth and wire. The dentek is the same concept but I haven't tried these out to comment on them. The only difference i notice (judging from the packaging) between the plackers and the dentek is how you would hold the flosser (straight versus to the side).

The other way of flossing to still be able to use the "regular string" floss is using a threader. I haven't used this method before either so i don't have too much to say about it. Maybe I should give it a try but I just don't think i would like this method very much b/c it requires 2 components compared to just 1. Before i got my hands on the orthodontic flossers, I used the pre made floss that had a stiff end that allowed me to easily weave in and out of my teeth. This method worked but it just took way too much of my time and it was a challenge to get to the back teeth.
TIP: buying the threader floss that doesn't come in single packets (like the one below) will save you about 1/2 the price. The glide threader floss in single use packets are ~5$ a box versus $2.50 for a bag of pre cut floss with stiff ends (i do think the single packets are more convenient if you just wanted to keep a few in you bag or in your car or something). However, i still much prefer the flossers that i talked about up above. I can't find the link to the bag but I bought mine from target (i believe it was from Dentek).
