A Thought on Capital Punishment
To enable the flourishment of society, punishments exist in our justice system to dissuade people from committing acts that have been socially designated as crimes. But, if you want to flourish in a life well-lived, I'm not sure that a logical solution/punishment to the problem of murder should involve becoming a murderer yourself. It seems safe to say that no one is truly gaining from or flourishing while torturing and killing a human being. Revenge is an emotional, illogical and flawed substitute for justice.
