"The surrogate changed her mind. She wants to keep the baby."
Of course
Of course she wanted to keep it. They would have to wait, and wait, and hope and keep trying over and over again just like they did before they found a surrogate if they wanted a family. A child of their own. Kenma can remember Kuroo mentioning how eager Kenma looked, and that it was so nice seeing him excited about this. But they've just spend so long waiting and tried so hard that this whole experience has gone right from exciting to depressing and now they're back at square one.He stayed silent, staring at Kuroo unblinking and looking half filled with disbelief and half filled with the most bitter acceptance. He stared like he were expecting some explanation, a reason. Like he were waiting for Kuroo to do something else or say something else because it was obvious Kenma was going to stay silent for some time now even when there was so much to be said he couldn't even find the words. 'What?' or 'I'm sorry' or just straight 'Okay'. It was hard news to take, and probably even more difficult to tell. Kenma turned away, after all the work they'd been through Kenma wasn't even sure if he wanted to try again. Of course he wanted a family, they both did, they were both so eager but it was just so... So hard.
