It’s finished! Not the best room lighting, will try for another picture in the morning!

Each section is different as my work table is not big enough to accommodate all of it in one go. But I had fun. It’s for me and I’m really happy with it!

Painted with flow acrylics then coated with @rustoleum’s Varathane Bar & Table Epoxy Resin (2 coats).

I tried my hand at flow acrylics : basically, I mixed my 50c walmart acrylics with t o o much water and crossed my fingers. Ugh. Theres a third but it got too dark outside to take a picture ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ when it dries I will bring it back inside and take a pic

I found some left over old paint and had some time to kill decided to make a mess. WIP needs more layers of mess.

This rainbow wave painting just got its second coat of resin. I’m so pleased with it. It’s an 18” x 24” canvas. Now for cleanup.

So, last year I bought this computer desk second hand with the intention of painting on it once I had improved on my techniques. Got it all measured out for amounts of paint needed.

Got all the surfaces sanded down then earlier this week, got the desk top sections unscrewed from the frame and a coat of paint & primer in one applied. Picked out my colours yesterday then this morning got to work on painting the left section.

This is a multi-week project to get the table surfaces and keyboard tray done painted as I’ll need to wait for them to dry to the touch before I can move each piece (not enough room on my paint table to do more than one at a time). Then wait until they’re cured fully before coating with a bar & table heavy duty resin. Then leave that to cure before using as a computer desk.

Colours for table:

Liquitex Basics: Titanium White, Bright Aqua Green, Ultramarine Blue, Dioxazine Purple, Silver, Deep Purple, Mars Black, DecoArt: True Blue Ready Pour

This is the section would contain the keyboard tray beneath (all unscrewed for now until after the top is resined.) I think I’ll use maybe a fair bit less black in the corner piece. Some of the colours (particularly the purple) added in with it were lost in with the black.

The latest in my split series done this morning. The greens will dry a bit darker so I’m looking forward to that. 😉

The purple & red ones are now resined. I’ll be able to resin the blue one next week.

Yesterday’s painting. White & Pebeo Studio Acrylics Prussian Blue for the base on three 4” x 12” canvases.

Amsterdam Permanent Blue Violet

DecoArt Americana Decor Metallic Copper

Artist Loft Metallic Cobalt Blue

As the canvases were smaller in size, this triptych was blown out by mouth rather than hair dryer. Looking forward to these drying.

ETA: as the Prussian Blue dries, it’s quite a dark blue, like a Pthalocyanine Blue.

Inspired by Rinske Douna’s split canvas series, I set my task to this project.

I couldn’t get the full painting into IG (hence the cross section posted there), as it’s a bit too long, and it’s drying still. Full size is 12” x 24” gallery-wrapped. I think this would do well for a resin coating once it’s fully cured. So happy with this one! The paint is a bit on the thinner size but I actually don’t mind the texture of the canvas on this. [ETA: My Dad’s spoken up to claim this one, wanting a resin coat on it when it’s finished curing].

The base coat is ⅓ Artist Loft White, ⅔ Grumbacher Academy Payne’s Grey. Then the colours blown over were: Liquitex Basics Cobalt Blue Hue, Artist Loft Copper, Liquitex Baseics Deep Violet, DecoArt Americana Decor Metallic Pearl, Demco Acrylic Alizarin Crimson, DecoArt Americana Decor Metallic Sterling Silver, Artist Loft Turquoise Blue.
