Hi, I'm back with more staff stuff! Maybe one day I'll make more photo content (I want to make a new costume and get the camera out so bad), but my time is limited so for now I'm just sharing some of the stuff I take while focusing on my practice. I'm excited to do more short choreography, really get a feel for how to incorporate my tricks into a full piece
<< Movement is Medicine >>
I needed to make room for the diabolo and devil sticks I'm borrowing from a friend, so I thought now would be the perfect time to organize my props and take updated pictures of them since I've added a few more since I last took pictures. Say hi to my babies! <3
Going in kind of a counterclockwise circle, then right to left, -5 regular hoops - The mostly hidden silver/pink one was my first cheap hoop, then the blue/green one was my first "real" hoop. These are what started me on this whole dang adventure. -Two sets of mini/double hoops - These are cheap kid hoops that I taped to make a little heavier. If I ever get more into hooping, I'll get better ones. -10 contact juggling balls - Probably 9 soon because the gold glitter one is either evaporating or leaking, so I’m going to have to toss it soon. The green and white/cream colored ones were my first juggling balls. -11 toss juggling balls - 4 of these are beanbags I crocheted, but that’s technically a ball, right? -2 sets of poi - The black blob are my sock poi, the muppet looking things are the other pair. -2 Toroflux - Those are the silver metal things hiding in the back. I tend to combine these with contact juggling. -1 contact staff - aka the thing that keeps trying to break my nose. -4 lightweight/day leviwands - The thin green one on the right I technically gave to my best friend because she's learning with it, but she keeps it here. That was my very first wand so it's so cool to see her learning on it, too! This was my second prop after the hoops. :) -1 baton - I learn tricks on this to use on my contact wands. -5 contact wands - 2 of these are lighter weight, though, somewhere between a contact and a regular leviwand. The one with all the colors is my newest and that was inspired by my characters, so I think it’s now unofficially my favorite wand. -3 LED wands - 1 lightweight, 1 contact, and 1 in between. The one is so bright! -The devil sticks and diabolo are in the last two pictures, but since they’re not mine they’re not in the other pictures. They’re just visiting some friends for a while. ;)
It makes my heart so happy to see these pictures because props mean so much to me. When I first started hooping six years ago I never thought flow would become my thing. If you had told me that balls and sticks would become my prized possessions, I probably would have been really freaking confused lol. They’re such a good focus for meditation and controlling my anxiety and they certainly get me more exercise than I would have done otherwise. They also give me a closer connection to my carnival performer characters, which makes me love these even more. <3
Oh boy!! I'm slowly collecting more flow props cuz they're funny (and now have taken over my life 😂) but honestly, I've been enjoying the process as I learn different tricks and using them to crossover with other props ⭐ Plus, learning to pick routines, time management, budgeting, muscle memory, stretching, and exercising 😅
And ofc you knowww I gotta look cute and stylish while I practice and learn 💅🏽 and also slowly watching my wardrobe switch into more activewear, rave wear and playsuits.. which is wild because in the beginning when thinking about hula hooping, I was only thinking of cute yoga fits, BUT it turned into a bunch more ideas andddddd here we are 🤭🤷🏽♀️

Today I prettied up a box for my flow prop overflow. The basket where I keep my juggling balls, poi, and non-LED wands was full, so I took a shoebox and covered it with fabric. Now I have a place for my four new contact juggling balls and all the random wand bits (chargers, extra string, washers, etc) that had been lying around. I love my little corner of props! 💚
Yay, randomly acquired flow props! I was at Target looking for a Christmas present for my niece and found these glitter balls that I snagged for myself. They’re supposed to light up and the purple does sometimes, but I wanted them for the glitter. Yay, glitter! They’re about the same size as my contact juggling balls, maybe slightly heavier, so these will be perfect! And if they break/leak, they were only $3. I think this is fate telling me I need to juggle more. 😉
I love love love this gorgeous wand quiver from whatthehuq so much that I want to share how happy I am! It's lightweight and comfy to wear, but it can fit a ton of wands! Seriously, this thing is like a D&D bag of holding. It holds my four go-to props (a contact wand, a contact LED wand, a baton, and a thin levi wand) with plenty of room to spare. I could probably fit another few leviwands and/or another contact in here! It even has a nice sized pocket on the front where I'm probably going to keep my pom grip/handle when I'm not using it. I have a few things from that Etsy shop and I love everything I have from them! 💚
