EVERYONE LOOK AT THE BREAD I MADE TODAY
Bread made with flower yeast!
For a long time I had flower yeast in mind but never had a chance to meet anyone who knew how to make it. I heard many of my elders talking about bakeries having flower yeast bread in their childhood.Like many beautiful things we take for granted, the flower bread is also disappeared.Recently one of my friends mentioned me someone who was experimenting on making flower yeast breads and documenting it online. I instantly took a look at her site and started experimenting myself. Now I keep telling everyone about this new experience and everyday I hear of new experiments around me!
While reading Walden, I was interested in the fact that David Thoreau was carrying sour yeast with him and he was talking about how it’s hard to carry it around. If he knew he could make bread with the flowers around him in nature,he’d be free of the burdens of carrying his yeast!
So here’s how it’s made:

FLOWER SHAPED DINNER ROLLS
These adorable rolls popped on my Instagram feed, and I fell in love with them so hard that I mixed the dough right away. To be precise, 20 minutes after watching the reel (click here for it). I consider it a work in progress, for reasons I will discuss in the comments… FLOWER-SHAPED DINNER ROLLS(from Joyce Mrad) 325g flour150mL slightly warm milk 1 egg50g butter, softened1 tsp instant yeast30g…

Star/Flower Bread
Recipe is from Sally’s Baling Addiction. The end result is very soft, moist, and fluffy, but the recipe as written has too much liquid in the batter, and the mixing time isn’t long enough. I ended up switching from the paddle to the dough hook, adding about 3 tbsp flour, upp-ing the speed after five minutes, and mixing for about 11 more minutes. I did the cinnamon sugar version, like in the video, i.e. softened butter, cinnamon, sugar, and added some cardamom too. Also rounded the four quarters of the dough and then let them rest for five minutes before rolling out. rolling out is pretty hard because the dough is sticky and soft. In the video Sally shows the twisting ending with the cut sides at a 90 degree angle to the baking sheet (horizontal), which is what I did, and it doesn’t result in those tapered ends to make a star shape (more like a flower). I think that maybe if you angle the cut ends at 45 degree angle to the baking sheet maybe you would get that tapered edge.
