#flower circles

I edged this circle (rue anemone) with my favorite variegated floss in soft muted warm pastel colors, and it’s just the perfect combination with the sheepy brown color of the felt, like mica.

I’m finally starting to sew all my flower circles from last year onto a backing.

I finished my flower circles embroidery sampler. I started it last winter when I was impatient for spring (and gardening) and embarking on my 2018 new year’s resolution to learn more embroidery stitches. I stopped when it finally got warm enough for real flowers, and now I’ve finally finished it a year later at the end of 2019 winter. Some of these flowers in my garden are just starting to bloom.

My latest flower circle embroideries.  I think I am done with them now and ready to make them into a wall hanging, but I feel a weird reluctance to commit somehow.  I’m also considering leaving off some of my least favorite ones from the final version, so I still need to decide on that.  But I think I am done making flower circles for now, at least for this particular thing.

They are: Virginia bluebells, Jacob’s ladder, violet, wild geranium lyreleaf sage, rue anemone, redbud Venus’ looking glass, spring beauty, pussywillow hepatica, bloodroot, rue anemone (again), and a weird practice leaf
