My latest flower circle embroideries.  I think I am done with them now and ready to make them into a wall hanging, but I feel a weird reluctance to commit somehow.  I’m also considering leaving off some of my least favorite ones from the final version, so I still need to decide on that.  But I think I am done making flower circles for now, at least for this particular thing.

They are: Virginia bluebells, Jacob’s ladder, violet, wild geranium lyreleaf sage, rue anemone, redbud Venus’ looking glass, spring beauty, pussywillow hepatica, bloodroot, rue anemone (again), and a weird practice leaf

I’m back at it again, starting my third penny rug because I just can’t stop.  Also I realized all of my greens were either too cool or too pure in hue, and I wanted a more dull warm green, like grass in autumn.  It wouldn’t usually be my color choice, but this one is called Reets Relish and it’s just what I wanted.  I also got some muted colors of embroidery thread.  Usually I prefer brighter and purer hues (as seen in my storage box), but as I selected the more muddy colors and held them in my hand with the felt, I realized that they all look pretty together.  There’s no such thing as an ugly color, just ugly combinations.

I finished my small penny rug, with colors inspired by my garden flowers.  There are circles representing my different rose bushes, many different zinnias, a few nasturtiums, marigolds, buddleia, forget-me-nots, bluets, bachelor’s buttons, violets, mosses, and probably other things that I’ve forgotten.  I designed it so it can be hung two ways.

My coping mechanism, more circles for a new penny rug.  This time they are colors of flowers in my garden: nasturtiums, zinnias, roses, cornflowers, marigolds, forget-me-nots, buddleia, lantana, bluets, morning glories, violets.

I got my fabric all prepped for my new penny rug, then came back to find Gianni sitting on it.  Thanks, kitty.

I’ve succumbed to making circles again for a new penny rug.  I kept thinking “I could embroider some with French knots and daisies and...”  Nope.  “I could make flowers from felt, like the flowers in my garden.”  Nope.  “I could work on this new felt kit to make little animals.”  Nope nope.  That’s not what I want to do, at least not right now.  What I want to do is make circles.

I made a scissor sheath!  After going to @arzach ‘s house to work on crafts and carrying my scissors in a sock, I decided I needed a better solution.  I adapted this pattern, and that one is beautiful, but I didn’t care to spend that much time or effort on it, plus I didn’t feel like using the sewing machine.  Also I’ve found that if I leave out the back pair of scissors, I can put a spool of thread and a thimble in there (if I’m working on a quilt) and I can also just stick needles in the felt for portability too.  Yay!  @arzach, craft night and brownies chez toi! At work sometimes I have to carry scissors in my apron pocket which isn’t ideal, and I realized I could use this sheath there too with the flap folded over the back and the ribbon tying in front so it would be like a big belt loop that I could put my apron ties through.  (Like a sword sheath, basically.)
