I really want to try a D&D campaign someday, though I’ve never played before, so my only though was to create a character first. So now, I present my very own D&D related character, Simon Chromwell!
Age: 17
Race: Human
Role: Warrior Paladin
Weapon: Whip
Hobbies and Skills: Cooking, Guitar, Painting, Sword Play, Some knowledge of holy magic.
Good Points: Kind Nature, noble heart.
Bad Points: Too forgiving, too trusting of others.
First, a bit of history about his family. The Chromwell Family has had a dreadful history. Long ago, when the world was threatened by a looming darkness, the current Chromwell warrior was gifted the holy powers of an angel, the power being infused into the family whip. The Chromwells were considered noble warriors back then, and the angel believed they were the best hope to stopping the darkness. The Chromwell warrior did defeat the darkness with the holy power, and for many years, the Chromwells helped to keep peace in the land.
But as the years went by, newer members of the Chromwell family became more greedy and power hungry, using the power of the whip for selfish reasons. Business became the main center point for the family, trading in goods, shipping contracts and slave labor, with the whip being used as a way to keep on top. The whip, having a mind of it’s own, could no longer bear to be used for such evil, even by the very people who owned it, so it sealed it’s own power away to prevent anyone from using it ever again. The whip since then has been in a glass case in the Chromwell Manor’s Trophy Room.
Now on to Simon himself. Simon is the 4th child of Gabriel and Marie Chromwell, youngest brother of Trevor, Christopher and Richter. Throughout most of his life, Simon was considered an outcast by his own family, for he had a different mindset from the rest of them. Unlike his father, mother, brothers or anyone else in his family, who are all cruel, arrogant, cunning and spoiled; Simon is kind, polite, considerate and noble. In truth, he is ashamed of his own family name, as he hates all that they’ve done for generations, all the horrible and ruthless deeds done. His family in turn don’t respect him well for his outlook, with his father talking down to him a lot and his brothers picking on him. At the age of 17, Simon could no longer stay in the manor, he felt he had to do right by his family name, so he stole the family whip and fled home, with the intent to make it on his own and do good instead of bad. Despite his good nature, the whip still judges him badly due to the Chromwell name, and refuses to allow him to use it’s full potential. So Simon’s main goal is to regain the true power of the whip and restore honor to the Chromwell name.
Though Simon is a really good person, his family name has left a bad mark on the work. If anyone were to find out his true name, whether in a big city or small town; he’s usually met with hostility and chased away, no matter what he does. He’s also too forgiving and trusting of others, due to the fact his family was never like that.
His family crest is also something to give away that he’s a Chromwell, which is magically tattooed on his back, so he makes sure no one ever sees him without his shirt on.
Hopefully one day, he’ll be able to prove to the world he is a good and noble person.
