daily writing challenge
tumblr is such a good way to get better at writing, so I'm gonna start doing these from time to time
Flow with the seasons
Challenge #004
Pick a location and write about it through the seasons. How does it change? What happens when? Is it a continous story or random happenings?
Everything was green. I was caught in the thicket of a densely overgrown forest. My little hands and feet struggled to push past the barrier of thorn bushes and tall weeds. I was almost to my favorite place, I could almost feel the soft earth beneath my feet, and could almost feel the warmth of the sun radiating on my tiny back. I crawled around sharp protruding rocks and ducked underneath the entanglement of vines which dangerously swooped close to my head. My mother's faint calls of distress were barely audible as I trudged on among the lush overgrowth. The corners of my eyes narrowed..at last! Light began to seep into the spaces between the weeds, reminiscent to the rampant way that water rushes through a sieve. Feeling a surge of exhilaration, my little legs projected me even further into the overgrowth. Moments later, after batting away the last of the weeds away from my face, I had reached my destination. I rose from my scraped hands and knees and planted myself at the edge of the clearing. Birds chirped in all places around me, intriguing me with the perplexity of their melodies. Wild flowers ranging from soft purple to vibrant reds were scattered brilliantly across the large clearing, but my eyes truly rested on only one thing. My favorite tree rested in the middle, with its overarching branches extending in a million different directions. I sat for countless hours under that tree, sleeping, climbing, and enjoying the smell of the ocean in the distance.
I would visit that clearing a ton when I was little, and it's one of those places that I never forget. So there's my little daily writing thing woohoo
