okay. so, i go to a school with about 1200 kids. well, actually, its closer to 1500 kids now. we've got 8-12 and its kinda crowded but it's comfy, considering we just got a new building.
anyways, we've had a lot of trouble with bullying in the past. mainly cyberbullying. there have been several instances. in 10th grade, a kid made a "Fluco Rumor Mill" page on facebook (Fluco is our mascot). in 11th grade, the soccer guys found this website called hsmemes.com and at first it was all fun and games. soon enough, everyone was obsessed with it and everyone was making fun of everyone and it was all anonymous and it was awful. thankfully it only lasted three weeks, but it was a long three weeks. in the past couple of months, there have been a couple twitter accounts that have been aimed at telling people to shut the fuck up. now, don't get me wrong, there are always people that need to be told to shut the fuck up. but it's rude. and to do it over the internet is even worse. now, i shouldn't really be talking because i've had my internet bullying things.telling twitter that i have an undying hate for a girl named megan probably wasn't the smartest thing to do. and it was thrown back in my face, as it should have been. however, it didn't need to go farther than her boyfriend tweeting that he has an undying hate for me. that's fine and dandy. wonderful. but all of his friends then came and started attacking me as well. i'm not trying to victimize myself, because it is what it is.
what i'm trying to say is that fluvanna has always had a cyber bullying problem. but now, someone, i don't know who, has decided to make this @FlucoCompliment account that's solely dedicated to making people feel better and giving them compliments. and it's just really great. we've needed that for a long time. we've needed a nice person or nice thing on the internet to bring us back and be like we are a family. we shouldn't be bitching about everyone all the time. let's not be naive, though, it's still gonna happen. but hopefully it'll happen less and people will stop with the whole cyber bullying thing.
i know it's a long shot, especially in this place, but it's nice to have hope, y'know?
