It was a nice winter morning. The sun peaked through the curtains, warming your skin the slightest bit. Slowly your eyes fluttered open, the soft lighting being bright for a split second before your eyes had readjusted to the morning light. You rubbed the sleep from the corners of your eyes, groaning softly as you stretched a little. Blindly you felt around the bed, trying to find the figure of your loving boyfriend. But you were only met with cold messy sheets, meaning he had woken up already. You smiled to yourself. It happened quite often that George woke up before you, but most of the time he would stay to cuddle you. Or when he got impatient he woke you up with kisses or tickles.
You quietly made your way out of bed, bothering to change out of your sleeping clothes. It was a warm shirt of George, what was a baggy fit on you, and your joggers. You tiptoed past the sleeping body of Fred, whose snores filled the room. You tried to go down the stairs without making the stair treads squeak underneath your weight. As you finally reached the bottom of the stairs, you were met with the warmth of the fire place and a delicious smell of breakfast being cooked. You heard soft chattering coming from the kitchen, but couldn’t make out who were the owners of the voices. They spoke just a tad bit too quiet. But you had a good guess of who were sat in the kitchen, so you made your way over there. “I really love her, mum”, you heard George say softly. This immediately made you stop in your tracks. “I’m not sure what I would do without her”, he continued. You leaned against the doorway, just hidden enough from either their view, but close enough so you could see and hear them clearly. A sudden heat rose to your cheeks, your heart beating a fast rhythm against your chest. you couldn’t help but be curious of what he would say next and how Molly would react. Her opinion mattered a lot to you. She was the sweetest and most caring person you had ever met. You couldn’t bare the thought of her disliking you, even if she never showed any sign of such feelings towards you. Somewhere you were still afraid you would do something that would change her mind.
“Aww”, Molly replied with a sweet smile on her face and a sparkle in her eye to see her son in love. “Have you told her yet?”, she asked, referring to the L word. For some reason saying ‘I love you’s had a certain pressure to it. “No, not yet. I’m too nervous and scared. What if she doesn’t say it back?”, George replied with a sad voice, his eyes training on the mug in his hands. Molly’s adoring expression faltered only the slightest bit, still holding her bright, reassuring smile on her lips. “I doubt she wouldn’t say it back. You should just tell her, darling. Trust me”. If you weren’t so focused on the boy sitting in front of her, you would have missed her warm gaze going towards your hidden body. Your cheeks were glowing even brighter, making your face probably the same shade as the boy’s hair. She gave you a reassuring nod, a sign for you to step in.
You softly stepped closer to George, not making any sound. All the while George had been unaware of the events happening around him. “Yeah Georgie, you should tell her”, you said, now standing behind the chair he was sat on. His head snapped faster than you had seen before, his eyes widening. They seemed as if they were going to pop out of their sockets. You smiled brightly at him,,placing your hands on his shoulders as you stood between his legs. As an instinct his hands went to your waist, even when it looked like his soul left his body. “I’ll give you two a minute”, Molly winked as she walked out of the kitchen. But she probably stood somewhere close enough to be able to hear the two of you. After all she was just as excited as the two of you.
George tried to avoid eye contact. His muscles were tense, you could feel it underneath your hands. He opened his mouth, but closed it immediately afterwards. As if he was thinking carefully over the words he would say. So you decided to safe him the worrying. You took his head in your hands, softly placing your hands on his warm cheeks. You caressed his skin, before you slimmed your lips against his into a passionated kiss. His hands tightened on your waist, pulling you down to him so you were sat on his lap. The kiss was full of love, putting all your feelings into it, instead of wasting it on find the right words to say to one another. When you broke apart breathing just a little more heavily. Both of you were smiling like idiots. “I love you”, he mumbled under his breath, still mesmerized by the previous kiss. “I love you too”, you smiled, reattaching your lips with his. No further words needed to be said. This feeling was enough to know how much love you had for one another.
