These Baked Buttermilk French Beignets are a delightful twist on the classic beignet recipe. They are light, fluffy, and baked to perfection, making them a healthier option than traditional fried beignets. Enjoy the delicious flavors of New Orleans in a guilt-free way!
Ingredients: 2 cups all-purpose flour. 1/4 cup granulated sugar. 1 tsp baking powder. 1/2 tsp baking soda. 1/2 tsp salt. 1/2 cup buttermilk. 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted. 1 large egg. 1 tsp vanilla extract. Oil or cooking spray for greasing. Powdered sugar for dusting.
Instructions: Set the oven temperature to 375F 190C and coat a baking sheet with cooking spray or oil. Mix the flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a mixing bowl. Beat the egg, melted butter, buttermilk, and vanilla extract together thoroughly in a separate bowl. Once a soft dough forms, pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir. Roll out the dough to a thickness of about 1/4 inch on a surface dusted with flour. Use a round cutter to cut the dough into the shape of beignets, or cut it into squares. After arranging the beignets on the ready baking sheet, bake them for ten to twelve minutes, or until they turn a golden brown. Take them out of the oven and give them some time to cool. Make sure to generously dust the baked beignets with powdered sugar. Enjoy and warm up!
