Halloween Headcanons

Rhen absolutely loves Halloween

she likes the spooky stuff too, but the main attraction for her is the fun and sweets

She creates like little candy-themed “haunted” houses for the children in Thais to explore with cute dragons and everything neat she’s seen on her travels

She likes to dress up in fancy costumes and have fun with the kids and Dameon thinks it’s adorable

Dameon doesn’t have much previous experience with Halloween (c’mon he lived in the holy land of magical eternal spring and his parents were busy being druids) so Rhen teaches him Everything

He lets Rhen dress him up because she gets so excited and he gets about a thousand hugs while she figures it out because she thinks all the costumes are cute on him

Dameon especially loves the pumpkin lanterns made to guide wandering souls and protect homes

He does light shows to make Rhen laugh and entertain the children going through her haunted houses

I can’t decide if Rhen would like caramels apple cuz they remind her of her childhood or think they were boring cuz she’d had so many, but Dameon is definitely a chocolate person. ALL the chocolate

One year Rhen is teasing Dameon for always having cute costumes and says he should go as something fierce so

obviously he goes as her

Also he teased back that maybe she should try something cute so she goes as him

they accidentally coordinate and go as each other and it’s adorable

This part of the game means so much to me<3 The first time through is so tragic and then so surprisingly, sublimely happy. Tragic when Rhen is agonizing over her choice, and she doesn't know how it will end but she does know she can't have the one thing she really wants. Dameon can't come with her. No matter where she goes or what she chooses she has to leave behind the person who has come to mean the most to her. But she chooses to do the kind and brave thing anyway. And the universe bends to her will, not without a price, never without a price, but for once it is somebody else's price to pay and he does it in an instant, without hesitating, with fervor even, Dameon strips himself of immortality to follow her. He loves her more than life, literally. And they live blissfully, sublimely happily ever after. The end<3

Many are the rants I have made about the subject, and there are many to come: I love that Rhen always has a choice with Dameon. There's never any forced proximity, never any coercion. Rhen chooses him for her band of adventurers. She chooses to spend her free time with him in the manor, she chooses to try his gentler tactics on Mount Orion, she chooses to trust him in the Dreamworld, and not because she has to. She never has to with him, she *wants* to. It's the whole "on purpose, on purpose I'm going to love you!" and it's also the fact that he respects her and trusts her to make her own decisions, to the point that he gives her the choice even when everything he ever cared about hangs in the balance. Even when he himself is a prisoner with no hope of rescue. And she chooses to free him. And he chooses to follow her, all the way out of the demon's lair and through the mists and across the Eldredth and over the threshold of mortality itself. And she chooses him to live and die by her side. And he says yes, not because he has to. He never has to with her, he *wants* to. And for some reason all of that is symbolized to me by her putting a flower crown of her own making on his head. I (finally!!) drew them in my interpretation of the armor they wear in the game. I see Rhen's cover art "armor" as sort of like a uniform, good for padding and removing arrows in some places, and she wears the actual armor over it (the Zurvan armor, in this case). And Dameon is wearing the cloak of death, and it has chrysanthemums embroidered on it because Symbolism and also I just like flowers (if you couldn't tell XD). This piece is set near the end of the game, I think after the final battle on the way to Aveyond, but maybe before, on the way to Veldt or on the way back from Thais. I'll let you choose;D

Time for some more of my Olden Inke Doodles. Here we have Dameon holding Rhen like she is the most precious person in the world, as she deserves, and then Dameon smiling because he has the most beautiful smile, and then just a bunch of Rhens at different stages of her life, partially as outfit and expression practice and also because she is basically the only thing I ever draw, and also I sketched in an almost-background for the one where she is Queen of Thais because I feel that strongly about her, my darlingest angel, for whom I will even draw FREAKING BACKGROUNDS in INK. And I made a flower pattern on her dress, too. My roommate wishes me to make note that they are not anatomically correct flowers. I am saying this without her permission but I already know she will tell me if I don't point it out so, there ya go XD
