2016 and gaming companies still don’t get that...
Did you, or other German gamers you know, have to learn english to play a game and feel that the characters are as they should be? That’s really bad if you (they) had to :(
I think most of us grew up with English and once we understood enough, we just started going with it, but damn... getting the games in English was hard. I think that a lot of us improved their English skills with gaming and I personally don’t know anyone, who started to learn English for it... but I’m sure that those gamers are out there
I remember having to change the .ini files of mass effect and dragon age origins and baldur’s gate... or load the files from a fansite, because German publishers didn’t give a damn about us wanting to hear the original voices. And even now, Playstation won’t offer the English dub.
and just to show how bad most German dubbing is
Mass Effect: Garrus uses the formal tone with a romanced Shepard (like you would do with a boss) ... not to mention that almost all of the jokes are not translated well (same thing happens with tv shows)
