Haruka could be the passive, calming force against the raging storm inside of him. as far as shipping go, I’m neutral right now, mostly cause Rin hasn’t had much screen time until now, but I can definitely see some delicious character development
Ah I actually prefer it opposite
MakoRin i think would be the more calming force to counter Rin's temperament.
For RinHaru I personally interpret it as a draw of passion from Haruka who barely reveals any emotions outside of his feelings for water. Idk if you've read the novels but Rin was essentially the one who began to rock Haruka out of the numbness of passivity which was his day to day life before Rin showed up. This also seemed to show in the anime through the expressions Haruka often revealed in moments when Rin was a topic of conversation or in front of him.
This would be why I am under the presumption that it isn't just Rin who needs to change and would be why it irks me when I see the hate in the tags, Haruka imho needs Rin to shake his foundation, his stability, in order to wake Haruka up from the static, unchanging life he is used to living. When I say in the novels Haruka seems to be emotionally disabled I am not exaggerating. But Rin draws him out of the haze that Haruka puts himself in and shows him that this numbness cant go on, that in order to really and truly be Free one must embrace and seek change in their lives.
