The Political Speech Generator, based on the Tristan Tzara’s Dada Poem instructions.

For Fluxfest 2016 at the Chicago Cultural Center on Friday May 27 I had lines from Sarah Palin speeches that I pulled out of the bag randomly and read. Since her speeches are already Dada like it was easy enough, but a better performance occurred on Saturday June 11 at ETG Book Cafe in Staten Island, NY when I asked the audience to write one line of a speech they would like to hear and then I collected them and again pulled them from the bag randomly and read to create a speech. Here are some of the lines from the speech created that evening-

“I have a great brain, No more NATO,

I am a counter puncher, all truth is subjective,

I will legislate free education and housing and

abolish nuclear power and GMOs.

Term limits for Congress senators,

no more than two terms,

Living wages for everyone in the U.S.A.,

equitable distribution of kale,

prioritize women’s orgasms,

do not demonize the unknown. learn!

I will be the spiritual president,

I will tell the truth about myself and my views,

I promise to promise everything you want- text me!

Remnants from one of my Fluxfest Chicago event scores – rearranged in various compositions on one of the glass block lights in the floor of the Rotunda Room at the Chicago Cultural Center, Friday May 27, 2016.

The original performance score happened in a gallery on Staten Island NY many years ago. I wore a fabric belt – same material as my shirt – took it off and swirled it into a spiral on the floor – then cut it up with grid-like cross cuts and offered the pieces to the audience.

At the Chicago Cultural Center event, I wore a long black scarf with gold metallic dots on it around my waste over a black T-shirt. Again, I swirled the material into a spiral then cut it up, but this time I wanted to incorporate the glass block floor light instead of sharing with the audience. I made one arrangement and called it the end of the event, and then a break was called. While everyone else went to an adjoining room, I took the opportunity to rearrange pieces into various compositions, documenting with a photo each time.
