Pointless Nostalgia Post
When I do not want to do something that I need to do, I usually procrastinate by cleaning or other such productive stuff as if to justify the procrastination. "Look, I am working!" Today it was more organizing old boxes of stuff.
Well, last time I sorted through stuff I ended up finding a letter that my past self wrote to me, which led me to typing a pointless ramble. I tried not to think about it this time, but that is difficult when I have not looked through some of this stuff in eight + years. I found a toy that one of my sweet brothers won for me out of one of those claw machines.
Next, I picked up a little pin trinket that was from my mother's childhood. Since I kept looking at the pretty little thing a lot, I had asked my mother if I could have it. She easily let me have it but one of my other family members said, "You might as well just throw it away now, Mom. You know she will just lose it." (I still remember exactly how I felt at the time. Aren't memories interesting?) Now I laugh a little at the memory while I hold it. [After this, the item packed away was a bear penny bank that the one family member gave me after I had not seen them in a long time. Of course, I treasure that, as well.]
Perhaps one of the most random/unnecessary things I have kept over the years was a pair of Old Navy boots that I probably got when I was four. They were special to me. ---So maybe I am a bit of a pack-ratter after all. Eep. Well, those were just the most random of them. I am not as bad as it sounds. I mean, I love memories. Would I have even thought about it without those little things?
Anyway, I also came across dozens of origami cranes that I did in my early teenage years. I did them all the time out of whatever was near -- napkins, notebook paper, candy wrappers (not licked, sorry.) Most of them have little numbers somewhere on them. There is a belief that if you fold one thousand cranes, you will be granted one wish. Sometimes, if I was confident enough to, I would give some away. It was usually (but not always) to people that I knew I would be leaving. It was like I would be sending them some of my best wishes. I hoped that they would look at them and know.

Anyway, what was I doing? Oh yes, organizing.....

Edit: Never mind, old boots are not even near the most weird of my keep-sakes. I just remembered that I have this:
....Not the books. The old Ruby Tuesday's cup. I guess I do have a problem. To be fair to me, I was threatened to keep this one, so... :p
...
Anyway, I'd love to hear about anyone's weirdest keep sakes so I can feel better about myself.
