several months into the job and sunghee is by now used to the corridors of the mbc building. mcing for the music show, which had originally been a task that had scared sunghee to a certain extent, is now enough part of their routine that they know they are going to miss it terribly when time comes for their contract to be officially over. they are used to the staff, the ones that look after them and the other mcs so well and with so much care, they are used to the routine and, most importantly, they are used to the job. they like the job. sunghee never thought it’d become something they enjoy so much.
today, they are not only an mc but also a performer. with unity recently having had a comeback, they are double busy – not only do they have to keep up with their mc obligations, sunghee also has to make sure they film everything they need for unity, knowing they are also likely to have someplace else to go after due to schedules. it’s a lot. enough that they only notice the person next to them in the line of the cafeteria is someone they know by the time they are almost paying for their coffee. “oh, hi,” a bow of their head, sunghee tries to give them a smile. “i forgot you were promoting. am i interviewing you today or have i already?”

OVERALL COMPANY
Most of the groups under Dimensions are making comebacks this quarter, which hopefully means good things for the quarter’s profits, but also means a higher stress atmosphere among workers. Staff that overlaps between groups under Dimensions, such as stylists and recording engineers, might be pulled thin over the course of this quarter, leaving interactions with them potentially more tense and brief when they do happen, and schedule mishaps aren’t impossible, with practice rooms and recording studios potentially accidentally double-booked.
Important dates:
June 8-13: Triple Fantasy Festival in Indio, CA, USA.
GAL.ACTIC
In April, the members of Gal.actic wrap up comeback preparations ahead of their new release. While its release might not be a high-charter for the group, it earns a certain amount of favor with those who keep up with new releases for showing a side Gal.actic hasn’t been showing as much with their recent comebacks. Album sales aren’t anything standout for the group either, in spite of several fan signs being held, but it gives Gal.actic a fun summer song they might be able to book some festival performances of next quarter, and the charity walkathon performance they book in June at the tail end of promotions is good publicity and positive media karma, which they could always use more of.
Important dates:
April 10: Fri. Sat. Sun. photo book shoot.
April 25: “Fri. Sat. Sun.” M/V filming.
May 1: MISSHA fansign in Gangnam, Seoul.
May 13: Release of “Fri. Sat. Sun.” & Fri. Sat. Sun. mini-album + press showcase, music show promotions continue through June 13.
May 14: Fansign in Yongsan, Seoul.
May 16: Fansign in Gimpo.
May 31: Fansign in Busan.
June 1: Fansign in Gangnam, Seoul.
June 13: End of music show promotions.
June 19: Performance (Fri. Sat. Sun & B.B.B.) at 1m1won Charity Walkathon (also performing: Chroma Crystal and 7ROPHY).
ALIEN
After Alien finishes music show promotions in April, they’re given the rest of the month before they return in May to begin work on their next comeback. Once they come back in in May, it’s straight into concept meetings and then eventually recording their next single album, which will include double title tracks “Bling Bling” and “B-Day”. They continue to work on their new comeback in the beginning of summer, with choreography [2] and wardrobe fittings being the focus for June. Though their fan signs for their latest comeback were kept to a minimum this time around, they’ll get two chances to meet with fans this quarter during fan signs in their roles as ambassadors for sportswear brand Kappa.
Important dates:
April 5: Fansign in Gangnam, Seoul.
April 9: End of music show promotions.
May 8: Kappa fansign in Yongin.
June 19: Kappa fansign in Busan.
June 20: M/V [2] and stage outfit [2] wardrobe fittings.
MARS
Now that their active Japanese promotions are behind them and left mostly to pre-recorded clips and behind the scene videos here and there managed by Dimensions to lure in anyone still pondering a purchase, it’s time for MARS to turn their attention more fully to their Korean comeback. April brings with it fittings, photo shoots, and music video filming on top of continued practice of their stages. The company gets those preparations completed by the end of April so as to allow the group to concentrate on their performance ahead of their comeback at the end of May. The comeback is met with what could be considered a more lukewarm reception for MARS — it’s what they’re known for and good at, but doesn’t seem to be a gigantic standout for most fans in comparison to the sexier “Chained Up”. Nonetheless, promotions are successful enough to turn a profit and they’re already looking ahead to a looming second Korean comeback of the year by the time the quarter comes to a close.
Important dates:
April 5: M/V and stage outfit wardrobe fittings.
April 17: Light Us photo book shoot.
April 20: “Valkyrie” M/V filming.
May 26: Release of “Valkyrie” & Light Us mini-album + press showcase, music show promotions continue through June 26.
May 27: Relay Dance video filming.
May 31: In&Out Dance video filming.
June 1: Fan sign in Yeouido, Seoul.
June 3: Guesting on Arirang Sound K radio show.
June 4: Fan sign in Yongsan, Seoul.
June 7: “Eye Contact” self-cam M/V filming at Dimensions HQ.
June 16: Fansign in Yeungdeongpo, Seoul.
June 21: Fan sign in Gimpo.
June 26: End of music show promotions.
June 28: Jambangee fansign in Songpa, Seoul.
7ROPHY
The quarter begins by finishing off promotions for “Oh My God” and before the quarter ends, they’ll be through almost an entire round of promotions for an entirely different comeback. Dimensions was quick to get to work as soon as “Oh My God” started showing charting comparable to their best digital success “Latata” and, instead of holding on to the era and milking it for all its worth, they’ve instead made the decision to aim for a summer hit with two more comebacks over the span of only a few months. The first is “Uh Oh”, which they’ll rush to record and learn the choreography for in April before completing the bulk of their comeback preparations in Ma so that the can make a comeback in the first week of June to get themselves in as one of the first large contenders for song of the summer. The comeback doesn’t end up being that, but it does benefit in the run-off of “Lion” and “Oh My God”, already making 2021 a more successful year for 7ROPHY than the previous one when it comes to making their name more known with the public.
Important dates:
April 5: Fansign in Gimpo.
April 10: Elle Song Association video filming.
April 12: Fansign in Incheon.
April 15: End of music show promotions.
May 1: M/V and stage outfit wardrobe fittings.
May 14: Teaser photo [2] shoot.
May 15: “Uh Oh” M/V filming day one.
May 16: “Uh Oh” M/V filming day two.
May 26: 100sec Choreography video filming.
June 2: Release of “Uh Oh” + press showcase, music show promotions continue through July 2.
June 19: Performance (Uh Oh & Oh My God) at 1m1won Charity Walkathon (also performing: Chroma Crystal and Gal.actic).
June 20: Try-lingual Live video filming (to be released: June 27).
UNITY
This comeback involves a lot that the members of Unity have to film. Not only do they have to film the video for their title track in April after completing wardrobe fittings and photo shoots in March, but they also have a concept video, a track video, and a music video for another song off of the album to film. All of the hard work pays off, though, as their comeback album hits it out of the park with over a million sales after its release and the digital charting of the title track is pretty impressive for a boy group as well. If anyone had still been questioning Unity’s position within Dimensions, there’s not much ground left to do so anymore after this comeback. They’re one of the top boy groups of their generation, and that’s something Dimensions will be proud to mediaplay in the aftermath of this comeback’s success.
Important dates:
April 2: Unity : The Past & Future : Ether video filming.
April 11: “Misfit” Track Video filming.
April 18: “Make A Wish (Birthday Song)” M/V filming.
April 26: “From Home” M/V filming.
May 1: “Make A Wish (Birthday Song)” M/V reaction video filming.
May 3: Release of “Make A Wish (Birthday Song)” & Unity Resonance Pt. 1 album + press showcase, music show promotions continue through June 3.
May 7: Fansign in Gangnam, Seoul.
May 10: Fansign in Jongno, Seoul.
May 11: Fansign in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul.
May 31: Fansign in Goyang.
June 3: End of music show promotions.
↳ CHAMPION
Near the end of the month, the CHAMPION members will fly out to Japan to hold their concert at Tokyo Dome. Decipher and Knight have played Tokyo Dome before, but Unity hasn’t. Regardless of history, it’s a pretty big deal that a fresh sub-unit is playing such a venue, so BC and Dimensions wants to make sure it goes off without a hitch. After the concert ends, the unit members will begin working on a comeback as they go in to record a single in the studio in June.
Important dates:
April 29: We Are The Future Concert at Tokyo Dome in Tokyo, Japan.
LUCID
Lucid spends most of April preparing for the fanmeeting they’ll be holding in May. In addition to performances of their releases so far (leaning heavily into their “normal realm” concepts, they’re informed), as it’s a fanmeeting, they’ll have talk sessions they also have to prepare for. Other than the usual ments, the members will be expected to answer fan questions and requests and give advice to fans (all of these messages will be pre-approved by the company). They’ll also play games on stage with each other. Their fanmeeting isn’t all the have to occupy their time, though, as they’ll make making another comeback at the end of the quarter with a return to form with the normal realm concept instead of an intersection like their last release was. They’ll record the mini-album in April and begin learning the choreography a little earlier than usual within the same month. (The choreography for b-side “One Half” will need to be learned as well.) May brings in the focus on promotional materials, although rehearsals continue behind the scenes at a higher intensity than usual to guarantee the members have the choreography nailed down for this comeback. Finally, they make their return in June with a warm reception that’s expected by many due to adhering conceptually to their most successful releases.
Important dates:
April 7: Performance at Nonsan Strawberry Festival in Nonsan (also performing: Chroma Crystal).
May 2: Dear. Reverie fanmeeting at Olympic Hall in Seoul.
May 1: M/V and stage outfit wardrobe fittings.
May 9: Parallel photo book shoot.
May 30: “Love Whisper” M/V filming.
June 15: Release of “Love Whisper” & Parallel mini-album + press showcase, music show promotions continue through July 15.
June 16: OMG Live video filming.
June 17: Guesting on SBS Power FM Cultwo Show radio show, Relay Dance video filming.
June 18: Fansign in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul.
June 19: Fansign in Mapo, Seoul.
June 20: Fansign in Gangnam, Seoul.
June 23: Guesting on SBS Power FM Power Time radio show.
June 24: Guesting on MBC Starry Night radio show.
June 27: Fansign in Gangnam, Seoul.
June 30: Guesting on KBS Cool FM Kiss The Radio radio show.
one arm slung through one of yuzu’s, eunah idly twirls her microphone around with her free hand. she’s pretty tired today. june 20th. one month from today, her second solo mini-album comes out. even as the staff from the youtube channel they’re filming for mills around, eunah’s head is lost in the clouds, only brought back down to earth when a voice calls their five. she unlinks her arm from yuzu’s and smooths out her dress. it’s a cute off the shoulder thing -- she thinks it might be her favourite outfit from uh-oh promotions.
five minutes later, when they’re walking onto the white set, eunah scrunches her nose as she spots the prompter. “i should’ve been allowed to wear my glasses,” she mumbles. eunah takes a deep breath, steadying herself on her mark, and then turns to yuzu with a hopeful, one-sided smile. “i hope we get french. i took it for a couple of semesters before i left the states.” not that she was particularly good at it, but ... maybe she’d have a little bit of a leg up. it would be naive to think that they’d throw either of them a bone and give them english. “what are you hoping for?”
there’s barely enough time for yuzu to answer before the set is hushed and the camera starts rolling. and ... portuguese. eunah lets out a nervous uuuh, finishing the exclamation with a laugh. the staff asks if they know any, and eunah quickly shakes her head no, both hands wrapped around the stem of her microphone.

notes: chunhwa got a piercing and a tattoo without permission, now she has to show them to their stylist.
When Chunhwa wakes up on the day of filming the music video, she does so already aware that she’s in for a day of being slightly yelled at.
The thing is, Chunhwa always stands for her decisions. They are the ones she makes, even if they are done out of impulse or spite, so she has no option other than to live with them, but Chunhwa also often underestimate the consequences of said decisions. Most of the time they are harmless ‒ unlike people assume of her, she’s not really that reckless ‒, but sometimes they are decisions that affect her standings in the group and also most definitely make Lucid’s staff annoyed at her.
Such is the case for her impromptu piercing acquisition.
All she had wanted was to go with her boyfriend get a piercing. It’s not her fault that they ended up piercing their navel and it’s most definitely not her fault that she also ended up getting a tattoo. At least the tattoo is fairly easy to hide, but the piercing… She knows most of the clothes that the stylists will put her in will do the job, but some of them might not. And they still have to dance, so it’s always a danger.
Lucid’s manager greets her with a scowl, having been made aware of Chunhwa’s stunt the night before. Chunhwa just smiles brightly at her back, throwing an arm around the woman’s shoulders and snuggling close. She’s already gotten her lecture and the reminder that she’s not supposed to pull this type of shit anymore, at least not without letting her manager know, to which Chunhwa had only replied that Jeonghwa had gotten plenty of tattoos without permission and unnie do you like her more than me? with an added pout for emphasis.
But as much as Chunhwa could get away with cuteness when it came to their manager, the same thing did not apply to their stylist.
So to lessen the blow, Chunhwa had gotten the woman a cup of coffee but it was her turn to change into the first outfit for the day.
“Unnie,” she greeted the woman, handing over the coffee.
Their stylist’s been in the business long enough to know what an extra deep bow and a gift mean and Chunhwa tries her best to ignore the assistants giggling at the older woman’s heavy sigh.
“What did you do?”
Chunhwa only smiles before lifting her shirt to show off the jewel. The look the woman throws her way is of complete disbelief and Chunhwa doesn’t have quick enough reflexes to dodge the slap to her arm.
“Why are all of you reckless like this?” Chunhwa would argue that the only ones that actively go out of their way to inevitably annoy someone from their staff are her and Jeonghwa but the woman cuts her off by leaning closer to take a look. “How long ago did you get this?”
She hums.
“Like… twelve days?” She doesn’t have to do the math for that, really, as she’s been counting the days until she reaches one month and she can’t stop the mandatory cleaning. “It’s swollen but it’s not as bad as it was last week, I had to wear low waisted pants the entire week for practice because otherwise it’d brush against it and hurt.”
“Oh, poor you,” Chunhwa purses her lips at the woman’s sarcasm. “You’re lucky most of the outfits for today are high waisted and the ones that aren’t cover your belly. If you get an infection because of the fabric rubbing against the piercing, it’s not on me. I reckon your manager has already yelled at you as she should, but really it’s like you don’t have a brain.”
“Unnie!”
She knows she’s not entitled to being upset at the woman’s words, but Chunhwa can’t help the quick thought that if it had been anyone else doing this they wouldn’t have gotten the same treatment. Logically, Chunhwa knows that isn’t true. They are all bound by the same contract, so all the same rules apply to them, yet she can’t help this ounce of insecurity. Maybe she should say fuck it and get the tattoos and piercings she wants as she very obviously is never going to satisfy them anyway.
Chunhwa smiles.
“Do you want to see my tattoo?”
The glare the stylist gives her is so cold it could freeze hell.
music show promotions for oh my god wrap up on april 15th, but there’s no sign of an opportunity for rest on the horizon. uh-oh is a fun song at least -- eunah will have to thank yoojin for that, when they’re inevitably burnt out from their back to back promotional cycles. on top of it all, eunah’s deep into preparations for her solo comeback in july. the tracklist is basically nailed down, and over the next couple of months, eunah will be pulled from the tail ends of 7rophy’s private schedules to music video sets of her own. she guesses she understands the company’s reasoning. they’re really pushing 7rophy this summer, of course her solo work isn’t exempt from that.
they’re all in major need of some time to destress, but that’s easier said than done for a group of workaholics.
eunah’s method of choice? movie nights. her favourite type of movies to binge? horror. she’ll have to treat yoojin to something sometime in return for joining her. eunah’s curled up on her sofa, crys the cat sleeping on the armchair next to her, with a blanket thrown over her lap. usually, she’d be sipping on a vodka soda, but she’s forgone it for tonight. she knows yoojin is jumpier than her, and she really doesn’t want to cause any spills. for eunah, this is equal parts a treat for wrapping up oh my god and a reward for a successful first portion of preparations for uh-oh. she’s the group’s weakest dancer -- in her opinion, anyways -- and for once she got the dance down in time with the other girls.
“come under here with me,” eunah says, lifting one side of her blanket for yoojin. she knows she’s not the most comfortable person to cuddle with, all sharp edges and knobbly joints, but tonight she’s primarily offering her shoulder as a place for yoojin to hide her eyes. “i put on an old american movie, because they’re not as scary. they’re really cheesy, usually,” her guilty pleasures, for sure, “so no need to worry! we can talk over it, and you’ll still be able to sleep tonight in time for the music video fittings.” a pause. “did you see the sketches in the prep meetings? i feel like my outfits aren’t gonna suit me at all.”
summary: the positive response to love whisper is nothing new nor unexpected

it’s absolutely no surprise to see how well-received love whisper is with the general public. everything about the song and concept is in line with what initially brought lucid success. dimensions basically copied and pasted me gustas tu and every other normal realm title track they’ve had and mashed it up to create love whisper. not that jaein is complaining because why should she, but she just thinks it’s lazy. they could have definitely kept to their more successful concept while still coming up with something slightly different.
this also means that the comments accusing them of copying and pasting their own music is inevitable. while jaein’s usually not one to go through comments made, she’s been scrolling through the comments on melon. most of them are positive, claiming things like this is the lucid i signed up for or this is the concept that lucid shines the most in. but there’s always the few that insist that nothing about lucid’s music is new anymore. she knows that these are probably the same people who ignore their nightmare concept and completely decided to disremember the fact that their last comeback was fingertip which sounds nothing like love whisper. however, she can’t really blame them. while fingertip didn’t drop off the charts for being different, there was no doubt that it was a lesser loved song by both their fans and the public to the point where she’s certain that people forgot they even had a comeback earlier this year.
she exits from melon and turns off her phone, deciding that she’s read enough netizen comments to last her for the month. the amount of eyes on lucid have only continued to increase since their rise, and she wonders when it’ll start to diminish. with new groups popping in left and right, she knows it’s inevitable. as much as she doesn’t want to admit it, jaein does have moments where she wonders what would happen when lucid reaches a point where they’re no longer relevant. right now, they’re booked all week for different appearances and content filmings. she lives day to day without knowing the next time she’ll be able to sleep on her bed for more than four hours and with wishes that it’ll all come to a stop. however, it’s gotten to the point where her daily life almost feels habitual to the point where she thinks she may not know what to do when it comes to a halt.
while she’s always wishing for time off or for all of this to come to an end, she never actually knows what to do when she does have time for herself. what does it mean to have a hobby? or to live a day without someone telling her what to do?
her thoughts are interrupted by her manager telling the girls that they’ve arrived, and she’s once again left to leave those thoughts in her head with no concrete answers.

summary: chunhwa has a lot of male fans
Because of their initial concept, Lucid had been mostly lucky enough to keep a fairly balanced fanbase at first. There was a bigger chance for younger women to show interest in the nightmare realm concept, and during Lucid’s first year that had clearly shown whenever one looked at the audiences of their performances and their fansigns. However, the normal realm concept had brought with it exactly the type of fans Chunhwa expected— the older men, the ones that had about as much interest in their music and they had in seeing a bunch of girls acting slightly cute and innocent. Chunhwa didn’t resent them for it necessarily, as she believed everybody should enjoy whatever they wanted to, but a part of her still bit her tongue whenever she was reminded of how much they were expected to cater to those men’s interests.
Their particular interest in her was easier to ignore when they weren’t in a setting such as this one. During performances, Chunhwa could pretend that it was just an overall thing, that the demographics didn’t weigh in more for some of them rather than others. But in fansigns, it was easy to pinpoint which of the Lucid members attracted what type of fans.
It was easy for Chunhwa to know that, out of her personal fans, the vast majority of them were men in their late 20s and 30s. Sure, some girls still liked her, because she was pretty and they wanted to be her, but being pretty also kept women away because Chunhwa was too pretty, in an intimidating and borderline unrealistic way. She knew a part of their fanbase resented her for it, but there wasn’t much Chunhwa could do about the face she was mostly born with.
She was professional, though, and whoever sat in front of her would get the best of her charisma and charm. It was what Dimensions expected of her and Chunhwa had signed a contract, after all. So long as her name was there, there were some things she couldn’t get away with avoiding.
Faces started blurring when you saw too many fans at once, but there were a few of them that Chunhwa knew too well. When the man sat in front of her, it took all of Chunhwa’s will not to let out a sigh.
“Sangwook oppa!” she still greeted him with a smile, meeting his eyes with hers. Chunhwa knew to play girlfriend with the man who had already attended the past two fansigns at this point. “How much did you miss me from yesterday to today?”
“Very much,” he smiled back at her, passing over a bag that the manager behind her took and added to the bag of gifts. “I got you another necklace because I saw you posted a picture with one of the ones I gave you last time. And another plushie, I hope you like them!”
“I’m sure I will!” Chunhwa only looked down to sign the album for him, in the page he asked for. She pushed down a wince at her face looking back at her. “How was work today? Did you manage to leave earlier again to drop by?”
“Kinda,” he was excited, the poor thing, when she passed over the album and took one of his hands in hers. “I got one of my colleagues to change shifts with me so I could come.”
Chunhwa, she realized, pitied him, a little bit. He wasn’t like some of the more intrusive ones, the ones that pushed too hard, that demanded too much of her. Chunhwa never saw him at any of the places she went to on her downtime, she was certain he wasn’t a fansite either, so he most definitely did not stalk her. He was just… always attending fansigns and performances. She thought it was sad, even, that his life had become this— switching shifts in the company he worked at just so he could hold hands with a pretty girl for a little bit. Chunhwa couldn’t resent him for it.
She squeezed his hands.
“Thank you so much for coming again, oppa,” the manager was already rushing them, but Chunhwa made sure to say goodbye properly. “And thank you for the necklace, I’ll wear it for sure.”
Sure, Chunhwa was written off as a bit bitchy at times, especially when she was having a bad day. But she still had a heart. If all she had to do to make the dude smile was play nice with him for a little bit, it was something she could do. And the smile on his face was a solid evidence of his happiness.

summary: chunhwa hates dimensions
There were plenty of reasons for Chunhwa to dislike Dimensions, she believed.
Evidence number one was the shit they pulled with her and the other members of Lucid that should have debuted in Shine. Sure, they eventually debuted in a group with a concept that was doing much better with the public than some generic group would’ve done, but the amount of emotional distress they put a bunch of teenagers through? Surely, that would’ve already been enough of a reason to dislike them. Then the sole fact that they have her dancing in school uniforms and tennis skirts? Another great point against Dimensions that Chunhwa will carry around in her heart forever. Last, but definitely not least, the part where Dimensions had been ignoring her for any solo opportunity for the past three years, even after giving all of her members projects for them to be a part of. How was she the main vocal and they weren’t allowing her to sing outside the group?
Ridiculous, really.
And today? Today was just another reason for Chunhwa to hate Dimensions even more than she already did. Reason being, their incredible decision to put Lucid in a plane from California mere hours before they had to be ready for a press showcase for their comeback. Whatever sleep Chunhwa had gotten in the plane was simply not enough to compensate for the fact that she not only felt but looked like a wreck.
It was obvious in the face of the makeup artist responsible for getting her ready. Comments weren’t made, but it was written all over the woman’s face that the bags under Chunhwa’s eyes would require double the normal amount of makeup to cover. She clearly looked as awful and she felt deep down and she had an annoying press conference and an even more annoying song to get through before she could potentially go home and sleep.
These could not possibly be ideal work conditions. Not that Chunhwa had anyone to complain to, or any grounds to do so, but still. The company couldn’t even think of the potential criticism they’d get if their group showed up for a performance looking completely battered?
If Chunhwa didn’t know better she’d even argue that the hangover she had two days ago was still hitting her. That wasn’t realistic but perhaps the rest of said hangover with the combined jet lag was truly messing up her brain. Her manager took one look at her and walked away, knowing it was very likely Chunhwa would be in a bad mood.
She couldn’t bring herself to snap at anyone, though. If anything, she took to sipping from the two cups of coffee someone brought her instead of talking at all. Andy, the traitor, wasn’t answering her texts, and Chunhui was busy with her own training. There wasn’t much for her to do other than to commiserate over the terrible circumstances she’d be forced to deal with for the rest of her day.
As she sank further into her seat while keeping her head steady for the people working on making her look like a human being, Chunhwa started enumerating the reasons she hated Dimensions from the start again.
