there isn’t a whole lot that goes on during these special events. socializing, the sipping of champagne, and some fake smiles as she takes in some compliments from higher ups. suji had a pretty successful year as both a soloist and with her group, so it was unevitable that people will come up to her and try to get a word or two in. the biggest topic seemed to be whatever her next music release would be, and while she’s constantly writing music, there was nothing specific she had in mind. the year’s only begun, and she hadn’t heard anything from gold star in terms of music releases, so she had nothing planned out. for now, at least.

after about a dozen executives coming up to her to ask about her music, she finally found it in herself to excuse herself to a corner table, taking a seat in what seems to be the first time in forever. she had been so desperate to sit down that she hadn’t realized that it was already occupied by someone else. upon finding that it was a familiar face, she let out a sigh of relief. “i think i’ve had about ten different people ask me what my next album was,” she says with a soft chuckle. “and it’s not like i hate discussing it, but i just had nothing to tell them,” she explains though he never really asked.

one of duri’s all time favorite things is music, but that’s something that probably wasn’t a surprise at all, considering the fact that he’s in the music industry. as well as the fact that it’s well known that he’s written a lot of songs, as well as the fact that he holds level ten certificates in three different instruments. perhaps, maybe duri’s a bit of an overachiever and it was something that he never actually realized at all. then again, maybe it’s more him being musically inclined in that manner and being able to do the things that he does. but, nonetheless, that wasn’t important right now.

he had a fun coming on, one to talk about music. it’s kind of how his friendship had started with the younger, a member of catalyst - better known by the name of ben. he’s a fellow songwriter and it was always nice having a friend like that, to say the least. he always liked being able to discuss the songwriting, showing off a new song that he had written. nonetheless, he had brought the programs up on his computer, before he’d hear the front gate bell go off on the panel. he’d step out of the office, making his way to the panel, before buzzing hyunbin into his front yard. “hi! come on in!” he says over the speaker, before stepping to the front door and opening it. “i forgot to ask, are you okay with dogs? if not, i can put the four of them upstairs!”

this isn’t jihoon’s first rodeo when it came to hosting. he had the opportunity to host the entertainment awards for mbc in 2021, following by the mbc gayo daejejeon in 2022 and now the base awards in 2023. to say he has gotten over his stage fright and worries about doing something weird on stage would be an understatement. he has never been one for stage fright, however, he has never been one to have to talk at awards shows, unless they were at international events. he was the unfortunate soul in the group that had to stand there and give a speech in english. 

hosting however.. hosting was easy, you had a card with everything written on it and you just had to read it at the appropriate times and move the show forward. however, it is stressful, if you are doing it for the first time. which is why he is currently looking at his groupmate with a raised brow. 

“you excited about this?“ jihoon asks, waving the small cards he was holding in the air, aiming the question about the whole hosting situation. he thinks hyunbin is lucky to have someone with him on stage, and the elder is more than happy to be there for support in any way shape or form.

bouncing of feet, much like a child who was excited. even though duri was rather tired, like he should be resting instead, but duri would always much rather work, than worry about his own problems. nonetheless, he finds himself backstage during the base awards, something that was easy to have to do. he already had the excitement of his own solo performance being over and done with, being the second opening act of the evening, so he had that thrill seemingly rushing through his veins in this current moment. well, that and the power of caffeine. 

since he was currently backstage, duri didn’t have the ability to go back out quite yet, since he couldn’t disrupt going back out  in the middle of everything. so, instead, he made his way towards the stage, where he’d be able to watch the performance that was on-going from where he was. he had always thought that the best seat in the house was being backstage - it always had the best view, after all. so, he had stood there, bouncing his feet to the beat of the music. 

however, he goes to turn to do something else, and that’s when he sees a familiar face coming his way. a happy giggle leaving his lips, before he’s waving towards the other. “ben!” he calls out happily. “ah, you’re doing a really great job at hosting!” he compliments. “how are you feeling?”
