Good times #fmsphotoaday #fms_goodtimes #fmspad #december #diciembre #2017 Aside from other (sometimes negative) things, we Dominicans are primarily know for our baseball players. We have a real passion for baseball. Our baseball tournament is played during Winter, with currently 6 teams. Today Quisqueya Juan Marichal Stadium, home of the Leones del Escogido and the Tigres del Licey, burned down minutes before a scheduled round robin game. It’s too soon to tell (the fire is still ongoing), but apparently it was due to faulty wiring in the press box (locally known as “Seventh Heaven”). The stadium, located in Santo Domingo (our capital) was built in 1955, and though it has undergone remodeling several times, the fire doesn’t come as a surprise. For us this is a tragic event. I chose this picture for the prompt not because I belong to an opposing team (the Aguilas Cibaeñas), but as a tribute for all the good times each and everyone of us has had at this legendary place. I’m sure it will rise from the ashes as a Phoenix and bring us joy for many years to come.
