20 September 2021 • I believe in science. • I believe that prairie grass once rolled through Iowa and bison tended the Earth. • I believe in helping the greater good, and that diversity is the power humanity needs to grasp with both hands. • I believe in the feel of soil beneath my finger tips, scanning for the secret to the cycle of life. Where’s the root of Death? Where’s the shard of light? • I believe that things often come in threes. There’s a balance in nature, an ecosystem determined to live despite the chaos. • I believe it’s easy to follow those in front, to autopilot the brain. But it is much harder to think, to question, to answer, and question again. But it is even harder to remain silent. The art of observation is a lifetime to mastery. • And yet, we still have Old Faithful, but the glaciers are melting. And yet, we have sustainability, but fossil fuels still power our cars. And yet, we have vaccines, but a pandemic equal to a 100 years before. • A human life is fleeting compared to Earth’s, but what I do know, is to be curious is to live, and to educate is to know. And to know, is to honor a life lived. • To remain ignorant is cemented in unconscionable fear, a safety net with invisible holes. But, the greatest gift from nature is this: I see you, I feel you, I hear you.
