The funny thing is that the signal coming from your microphone has to go through your computer. Irrespective of the used microphone, it never has enough power. Therefore, the signal has to go via a preamplifier to amplify it.
You simply plug your microphone into the audio interface. With the audio interface, you can regulate the input level. If you have the Shure SM7B, you should hang the Cloudlifter between them. Then the Focusrite Solo connects via USB to the PC.
