“oh, i am absolutely mentioning this again.” foggy shakes his head with a wide, shit-eating grin. seeing frank do anything remotely normal besides brooding is cause for surprise, so seeing him sitting on the couch with maeve dozing off against his shoulder almost makes foggy want to take a picture. “i’m never letting you live this down.”

“what the hell do you mean, only mostly? he’s dead! he’s so totally dead!” foggy’s face goes slack and drains to a startling shade of white as he looks at the surveillance footage in front of them. “and you killed him!” it’s a strange thing, sitting next to a man in person and watching him kill someone on a screen. foggy doesn’t like the uneasy feeling that frank’s presence leaves in its wake. “and i’m supposed to spin this in your favour? jesus christ, frank...”

“like - what?” foggy hasn’t been paying attention until right about now, and he can’t figure out if matt’s been telling a story or if he’s just trying to get foggy’s attention. “you are not the swiss army-knife of people,” now there’s a sentence he never thought he’d be saying, “you’re like - you’re like the sniper rifle of people. no one ever sees you coming, but they don’t stand a chance.”

anxiety ebbs its way up foggy’s throat. he’s holding tightly to the doorframe and hoping it will anchor him in place. despite knowing about matt’s secret, seeing him in varying states of beaten never fails to freeze his blood in his veins. “just wanted to check on you.” foggy’s voice sounds wrong to his own ears, warbled and choked up, forced out past a lump in his throat. he makes himself move forward and into the apartment to survey the dark blooming damage on matt’s person. “has claire come by yet? you look like hell.”
