It seems like an eternity, looking back on how I got here, but if you really want to know, I guess I'll tell you. Don't be afraid this is a tail of hell fire and vengeance, of a man pushing far past the limits of any other, and giving his soul in exchange for what some may call justice.
I remember it was a cold wet day in the middle of winter, my family was struggling to get through since our crops didn't produce much last year. I was getting worried, so I did what any self respecting man would do in my situation. I went down to the sheriff's office and looked at the bounties. I looked through them all before seeing the perfect target.
Barron was described as a heavy set man with a lisp and a bad attitude. He was said to have a horse shoe burned into his right arm. What got me pulled in wasn't his appearance, but rather his last known location. Pikes pool. That was a relatively popular swim hole about 15 mins outside my property. It felt like it could be a quick grab and decent cash, considering it was a fifty dollar bounty: dead or alive. After all he was wanted for horse thieving and was to close to home anyway. Everything seemed in my favor so I snached the bounty before anyone else could lay eyes on it.
I hopped on my horse, Strider, and headed towards home. It took about 2 hours to reach the spot from town, the sun was just starting to go down. Luckily for me there aren't that many people camping out here in the winter so when I saw smoke blowing from the Forrest I was pretty damn sure it was Willy. When I got to the camp, the sun already fallen, I saw Willy with three men who were not mentioned on the bounty, so he must have met them sometime within the last couple days. I crept behind a log where I could see over into the camp, keep in mind all I had was a muzzle load pistol, a knife, and a rope. I was woefully unprepared, but I was hungry, so turning around wasn't a choice. I obviously couldn't take four armed men alone, so I decided to wait till they were asleep.
