It’s maybe on a bit of a whim that Nick goes into the tattoo parlour, and certainly it’s not a totally thought out one.

Nick only has one tattoo, the rune on his right forearm, but it burns constantly with magic and loss these days. Like the very magic imbued in it cries out to be reunited with his coven.

Too bad John and Zatanna betrayed him. It’s a bitter reminder, the itch of the tattoo every day.

He doesn’t know what he can do about it. It’s not something he could easily remove--even with magic--but it’s a glaring reminder of his mistakes. Of his losses. And it’s been months since he’s seen either of the other coven members.

So he goes into the tattoo shop on a whim, yes, but he feels determined to at least assess his options.

Nick marches up to the counter and turns his arm over, pulling up his sleeve to show the rune in all its former glory. “What can you do about this?”

         “Oh?” That actually gets Victor to put his book down, to focus his attention to Sherlock for a moment. He trusts that it is interesting, knows that Sherlock’s not using it as a ruse just to get Victor attention. “Let me see!”

     He’s not wrong to trust; Sherlock would never use such a ploy. Whether it actually will be interesting to Victor though... He presents the find to his friend with a look reminiscent of a hound with quarry treed. “The museum at Barts has a special exhibit on this week. A very large collection of skulls— not all of them human! What do you say?”

don’t mind her, she’s just having a panic attack on the subway. usually it’s okay, usually she works the early morning shift and beats the rush, but today she has the afternoon shift and the cars are crowded and her claustrophobia is kicking in hard. she’s just going to close her eyes, ignore the stares, and imagine herself somewhere else.

          “Uh huh.” He’s not completely fucking deluded; he knows a couple of truths about himself. As far as a proper answer goes, though, that’s as much as she’s going to get.

           “That’s a perk of being an adult.” Alright, he’s lying— but there are just times when you really don’t want to hear what the other person is saying, even if they happen to be right. “It’s the conversational equivalent of sticking my fingers in my ears and going ‘la la la’.”
