Want to get your hands on a Noble? Congratulations on your first choice, good sir or madam, because the niche British manufacturer produces some of the most direct cars, sport stalwarts in the market.
And that, thanks to Q1 and Rossion Noble derivative includes the United States. But if you live in a place where Noble really selling their own cars, you’ll want to look at the M600.
The Noble M600 is almost as hard as anyone. It packs a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 from 650 horsepower to kick the rear wheels through a six-speed manual, and not much else: no ABS, no traction control, certainly no unity in the four wheels. Only 650 horsepower and weighing about 2,600 pounds. No gearbox flappy-paddle here without folding roof trick. Only the last bits are about to change.
Speaking to Dutch publication Autovisie chief Peter Noble Bolt Wood – a former racing driver and Ferrari F40 – revealed that his company is working on two new developments for the Puritan M600. One is an open roof, and the other a sort of paddle-shift transmission.
This is not the first time Noble have created a convertible sports car. In fact it was reported on the possibility of a roadster M600 a couple of years ago, when the company released a teaser image. But now seems to be moving ahead with plans.
Details are sketchy at this time, so do not know if the first is a single removable panel roof, a folding canvas roof, a retractable hardtop or something else.
Nor do we know if the gearbox will be a two-pedal dual-clutch sequential or torque converter automatic. But Wood and company seem eager to enter new markets, and apparently see both evolution vital for expansion without sacrificing performance.
Their order books may be complete at the time, but is expanding in China, Taiwan and Japan.
Here’s hoping – with or without a roof and open paddle-shift transmission through Rossion or self – that brings the M600 to North America soon as well.
