Hannah Hoch
(name of piece unknown)- This piece is more abstract than her other pieces and she has included natural forms for example plants as during this time she was inspired by Dawn Ades ‘s fascination with nature. The subject matter is the face in the center. Hoch has layered the sections of the face well and the almost black of the background helps the face stand out and adds depth to the peace.
Comparison between Hannah Hoch and KennardPhillips Artwork:
Personally I think Hannah Hoch and KennardPhillips work is not similar as they have completely different styles of collage. Hannah Hoch changed her style through the years, however KennardPhillips seems to stick to the same style of collage making. Although, both Hannah Hoch and KennardPhillips focus on world problems.
Kennardphillips
This piece is a bit different to the previous collages that I have discussed. This is a collage of citizens and a male that is high up in power. With the waving flag this could possibly represent the idea of victory and peace after a war. The figure in white is a larger scale than the citizens which could represent power. The citizens are looking up at the leader which could mean they support this person and that the person in power has a large impact on the country.
Kennardphillips
This piece is very similar to the David Cameron collages. This piece is a photograph of Teressa May layered with newspaper. The collage has been crinkled to add more character to the piece. The figure has no eyes which could convey the idea that she is blind to some of the problems in the UK as well as being blind to people's views. This piece would cause the viewer to possibly question their views on Teressa May and the bold necklace could also represent wealth and power.
Kennardphillips
Again, this piece is very similar to the previous piece I just discussed. It is a photograph of David Cameron that has been manipulated to give the piece more meaning. The ripping of the paper reveals another photograph of a large, high class building. Newspaper has been layered behind the photo of David Cameron and this creates a sense of depth. The ripping of the paper to reveal the photo possibly represents the idea that behind certain people comes great wealth and power which could be ”written all over their face” almost when you look at them that’s all you see.
KennardPhillips
This piece is a manipulated photograph of David Camron combined and layered with newspaper. The center of this piece has been ripped to reveal another photograph of a man walking in the street. The ripped paper could represent broken promises that David Cameron has made to the UK and the man is walking away from the minister and not supporting him anymore. This would maybe cause the viewer to re-think their views on David Cameron and possibly encourage them to act on their views.
Peter Kennard and Cat Picton Phillipps
Biography:
Peter Kennard was born on the 17th of February 1949 in London. He is a photomontage artist and Professor of Political Art at the Royal College of Art. Kennard’s aim is to show his involvement in the anti-Vietnam War movement during this time. He was originally a painter and then began photomontage to better convey his political views.
Context and Analysis of work:
KennardPhillipps is a collaboration between Peter Kennard and Cat Phillipps. They have been working together since 2002 to produce art in response to the invasion of Iraq. It has grown to confront world power, for example politicians and war around the world. Their work can be seen in streets, galleries, the internet, newspapers and magazines. Their work helps viewers to voice their opinions and look at these world problems in a different way through art. KennardPhillips’s aim of their work is for people to use their work as part of their own activism against political issues in the hope that it creates social and political movements internationally.

Hannah Hoch
(name of peace unknown)- again this piece seems to have a very similar meaning and subject matter to the previous piece that I have discussed.
Sexism was a very large problem at the time. As much as the female figure is a cartoon it’s a figure that would have been considered “perfect, beautiful, sexy” at the time. The figure is surrounded by male figures which could symbolize that many men at this time would itemize women. The female figure looks to be covering her ears this could possibly convey that woman felt overwhelmed and surrounded by men's sexiest and crude comments. This is what it means for me when I look at this art piece, however everyone has their own opinion.
The contrast between the muted colored in the background and the brightly colored woman helps to make the female figure stand out which could also mean that at this time women were the center of attention by men. Again, I think this because during the beginning of Hoch's career she focused on sexism.
