This object was collected from Himachal Pradesh - a northern state of India. The beautifully designed metal plate fittings at the corner makes the Baksa more appealing. It was used to store clothes and other precious belongings. The decoration of household objects among the folk communities is purely personal taste. In past decades skins of animals, including the wild animals, were used to fulfill multiple necessities like clothing, shoes, furniture, household decorations etc. Now a days, the use of wild animals skins are limited to a great extent due to ban on the poaching of wild animals. Therefore, such objects are now rare and unique and can mostly be seen as a part of museum collection. Acc. ‘सप्ताह का प्रादर्श-50’ (03 से 09 मई, 2021 तक) *बक्सा, लकड़ी से बनी एक पेटी* वेबसाइट की लिंक - https://igrms.com/wordpress/?page_id=3432 बक्सा स्थानीय मज़बूत लकड़ी से बनी एक आयताकार पेटी है और इसकी बाहरी सतह हिरण की खाल से ढांकी गई है। इसे भारत के एक उत्तरी राज्य हिमाचल प्रदेश से संकलित किया गया था। इसके कोनों पर सुंदर रूपांकन युक्त धातु की पट्टी की सज्जा इसे और भी आकर्षक बनाती है। इसका उपयोग कपड़े और अन्य कीमती सामानों को रखने के लिए किया जाता था। लोक समुदायों में घरेलू वस्तुओं की सज्जा विशुद्ध रूप से व्यक्तिगत अभिरुचि के अनुरूप होती है। पिछले दशकों में जंगली जानवरों सहित अन्य जानवरों की खालों का इस्तेमाल कपड़ों, जूतों, फर्नीचर, घर की सजावट आदि जैसी कई ज़रूरतों को पूरा करने के लिए किया जाता था। वर्तमान में जंगली जानवरों के अवैध शिकार पर प्रतिबंध होने के कारण उनकी खालों का उपयोग काफी हद तक सीमित हो गया है। ऐसी वस्तुएं अब दुर्लभ और अद्वितीय हैं तथा अधिकांशतः संग्रहालय के संकलन में देखी जा सकती हैं। #baksa #woodenbox #folk #folkcommunity #himachalpradesh #igrms #museumfromhome #objectoftheweek #ethnograhicobject #museumobject #museumofman #museumofmankind #museumofhumankind #experienceigrms #igrmsstories #staysafe #covid19 https://www.instagram.com/p/COZZjbOj5di/?igshid=83ukowtmrp4z
