Ok @taylorswift can we get like a movie version of this teenage love triangle because I've been wanting to watch a movie all day without knowing what (and also not wanting to stop listening to folklore) and I just put my finger on it that that is what I want!!
@taylorswift : *released new music*
Me, desperately searching for Easter eggs: 🎵 were there clues I didn't see 🎶
Honestly, I was worried after seeing the aesthetic of the album because it brought to mind a certain sound/style that I just couldn't see @taylorswift doing but from the first song I was reminded of something we've seen time and time again -
Taylor does not experiment with music, she makes it. She does not dip her toe into new styles or tones, she dives in (sometimes literally @ cardigan mv). Taylor takes each new album as a chance to become engrossed in a new art form and honestly that is why no one compares. How could they? Shes doing what nobody else is doing and shes doing it so freaking WELL.
Talent. Pure and simple.
"Speculation, over time, becomes fact."
This line right here is, to me, the essence of the whole album - of her whole career. While @taylorswift hasn't become what the media has portrayed her to be, there came a point where no one cared what she was or wasn't, only how she was painted. That brought freedom, in a sense (which is what reputation is all about). But this...this is taking her mind's vast expanses and putting them on paper, this is creating worlds that are indestructible, if only because they are not real. This is making them real. Folklore gives people so much to "speculate" that they'll come away with nothing but muddied waters. I can hear it now:
"The time tables dont add up"
"Taylor and Joe are broken up?"
"She's cheating on him"
All these (and more) speculations show how desperately people cling to what they dont fully comprehend. Bits and pieces are cheaper than the whole so no one bothers to pay full price. The space in between the lines builds up until the canvas is blank and everyone is convinced they have the full picture.
In a way, @taylorswift is a mirrorball, she shows us all what we're grasping for, what meaning we come in hoping to take away and we get it even if it was never intended. This can be good or bad, depending on the person, but either way its taught her to be sharp...and boy is she ever!
In other words: THIS ALBUM IS EVERYTHING!!!
Taylor calling a song delicate was an Easter egg for this entire album change my mind
Y'all the fact that folklore refers to stories and tales of a particular REGION really makes me feel like this is gonna be personal and hit swifties exxxxxxxxxxxxxtra hard ❤❤❤❤❤❤
