-Toadstone Amulette Pendant- (Revival) This was a setting popular in the medieval times. Most often to secure the stone, toadstone, shell, bezoar etc, which were believed to have magical protection powers agains curses, illnesses and poison. This Toadstone amulet was entirely hand fabricated, all parts forged from 950 silver. Soldered using a mouth blowpipe and engraved using a sharpened nail. No castings No electric tools. It features two 15mm Toadstones (Lepidotes). Medieval Toadstone Amulette Ring (Revival work in progress) Hand fabricated, all parts forged on the anvil. Engraved using sharpened nail tools.Features a 10mm Toadstone. No casting No electric tools. -RESERVED- Some info on Toadstones: For nearly 500 years (13th-18th century), Toadstones were then considered a real ''stone'. It is said that Toads produced precious stones inside their head that had great powers against malignant tumours; that they were an antidote for poisons and that they protected against enchantments of witches. During the plague they were laid to the heart to strengthen it. According to physicians of the same period, the stone could be cut out of the toad's head. Another way of extracting the stone was to place a toad on a piece of red cloth which would make it spit out it's stone. It would then have to be taken rapidly if not the toad would swallow it back again before one can seize the precious gem. It was supposed to be an antidote to poison and in this it is like batrachite, supposedly formed in the heads of frogs. Toadstones were actually the button-like fossilized teeth of Lepidotes, an extinct genus of ray-finned fish from the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods.
