Kohima’s Electro-Folk/Folkwave quartet @runmondayrun returns with their second single - Zongza, a folk lyric of two legendary Ao lovers, Jina & Etiben. It tells the story of Jina's deep yearning to meet his lover while Etiben was on her way to the paddy field with her mother. In desperation, he beats the traditional Ao log drum & chants love tunes to Etiben in an effort to relate his thoughts & feelings to her. “When Are You Going To” by Azul Toga // When Are You Going To - Single (2015)

If you find this on the start of your work or school week, allow your brain to day dream in the world of “When Are You Going To” for a little while. Postpone starting anything intense, or continuing anything, or really doing anything other than listening to this effortlessly beautiful melody on repeat for a while. Portland based lo-fi / dream pop pop artist, Jonathan Clowdus (under the moniker Azul Toga) has been quietly amassing a wonderful collection of tracks for a while, but this new gem is something truly special. When you hear people throw around the “dream pop” tag, it’s rare that a track truly inhabits that tag with the kind of deliriously lovely daydream atmosphere that permeates throughout this stunning, sweetly melancholic lullaby. You’re going to want to get lost inside of here.

“I Will Ride a Horse” by A Grave With No Name // Feathers Wet, Under the Moon (Out 5.5.15 via Lefse Records)

I have absolutely loved hearing Alexander Shields’ musical project, A Grave With No Name, grow and mature over the years - from somber, lo-fi bedroom pop to a gorgeous chamber pop project. The artist’s latest single is the stunning “I Will Ride a Horse”, from the forthcoming (fourth) album, Feathers Wet, Under the Moon. What starts a gentle acoustic number, blooms into an absolutely sweeping, orchestral beauty - emotional, poignant, and cinematic. I’m floored by this. One of my favorite songs of the year so far.

“of Asheville” by Sunshine Faces // Letting You Know (Out Now via Swamp Church Tapes)

One of my favorite Bandcamp discoveries as of late has been the wonderful new album, Letting You Know, by Chapel Hill’s Sunshine Faces. The album is the work of artist, Noah Rawlings, who manages to weave a collection together youthful nostalgia, melancholic romanticism, and gently textured lo-fi production into a series of songs that are absolutely overflowing with promise. Of course, the promise of an exciting future for the artist can build as you get lost inside the ten tracks that make up Letting You Know. Try starting out with the sweet longing of the gorgeous track, “of Asheville” - delicately building from a softly charging beat to a rumbling, haunted beauty. You can grab the album for a name-your-price fee at Bandcamp, right now. It’s absolutely a must graB for fans of Alex G, Coma Cinema, and R.L. Kelly.

"Haunter" by Gengahr // She's A Witch/Haunter 7" (Out 3.16.15 via Transgressive Records)

Sometimes, i find myself way into a new track without having stopped to learn anything about the band responsible. Just a random listen on Soundcloud or Bandcamp and then mini-obsession ensues. In the case of Gengahr and their fantastic new track, "Haunter", I will certainly be adding them to my bands to watch list. The London based foursome have crafted a hypnotic, autumnal stunner - part eerie slow burn, part gorgeous mid-tempo psych-pop ballad. It's really something special and you would be doing yourself a disservice not getting in on this as soon as possible.
